Lack of money spending opportunities

Recommended Posts

Does anyone else feel that there really isn't much to spend your money on apart from weapons and ammunition? Clothes? yeah but i mean the most expensive is a suit for $2000 and you get 1000's every mission Food and activities don't cost much at all, health bills when you die cost a little bit but not much considering the amount of money you'll have particularly after "Three Leaf Clover." In past GTA games you could buy houses and at least. Don't get me wrong I think GTA IV is one of the best games i've played alongside Red Dead Redemption, Oblivion and a few others but just the large amount of money you get with little to spend it on and Niko continues to talk about how he does the missions because he needs the cash..the question is, What for?

Let me know if you disagree..Input/replies will be appreciated cheers

sure. this is something which shall be changed in gta 5.

take mafia 2 for example. even though there isn't pool, bowling, hookers, etc.

you feel that you're in debt. you have to get money together at some points.

gta 4 should've been like that, too.

loansharks should come around now and then to collect from you. niko mentions roman is in debt even when you're already in algonquin. (roman gets into debt the whole time). we shall pay this money.

Yeah we can only hope.. i know it's not really that sort of game but hell make us pay rent or bills or something..anything there is only so much ammo a guy needs

mos def. i would really appreciate to have to decide whether i repair my car, buy a new suit, buy ammunition or go out with friends.

this would really be great.

i tell you what i did with the 1,3 million dollars. i most recently killed all pigeons. and sometimes the police came after me. instead of escaping this one star, i shot any cop that crossed my path. of course, death was inevitable.

after i woke up at the hospital, i lost lots of money. when i finally got 100 %, i bought ammo to the max only to find out it is gone with the next loading. lol.gifsuicidal.gifmercie_blink.gif

however. i started over. but the trophies i got. i'm just in bohan and already got too much money. even though i should be broke, really broke right now. cab business and apartment gone

Yeah like a new immigrant shouldn't be rolling in the cash after a few weeks..make him build his way up . I want to have to save hard for something i really want in this game and it just is too easy to buy whatever you want which is a shame because everything else about it is awesome

The hospital costs $10,000 or 10% of your money, whichever is less. Try dying more often. Or get busted. You'll have to re-buy all your weapons. If you manage to eat up the big money earned during the story life will become more difficult as it is for Johnny in TLAD, who never makes as much money from the story.

Yeah, this is one of the biggest complaints about GTAIV. Lack of cloths, lack of real estate, surplus of money. haha, what good is all that money if you have nothing to spend it on?

I'm confident this will be fixed in the next game because this is wayy too common of a complaint to have flown under Rockstar's radar.

How is having too much money a problem? For people who die and buy weapons often, it'll be a pain to play the game if money is limited. Do you want those people to shy away from GTA? There's an achievement to reach half a million and a leaderboard on who reached that amount. Rockstar didn't see this as a problem, it was intended for Niko to be super rich.

I've never really been bothered by it. For the hours I've put into GTA IV I rarely take much notice how much money Niko has.

Atleast it's not like GTA III where Claude gets a ridiculous sum of money for completing a simple errand. Yes GTA IV could've handled the money a bit better, but then again Niko gets paid accordingly for the profile of his objective.

The most I've ever had is only 600K. While that's alot of money to you, and me that's almost pocket money in GTA terms. TBOGT went further back. TBOGT promised a more glitzy, and glamouress side of Liberty City littered with nightclubs, and beautiful women yet there was LESS to spend money on than GTA IV.

While I understand it's an expansion pack R* could've added a bit more money wise considering the style it goes for.

I found it ridiculous how Roman was in debt and you guys were running away from people chasing you for money, with Niko telling Roman "we have nothing" when he's walking around liberty city with $700,000 in his pocket.

The money shouldn't just interact with the buying system, but the actual game storyline. You'd actually feel like you needed to get some money, when storyline events come out of your pocket as well as guns and repairs.

My problem isn't that there is too much money, its that there is nothing worthwhile to spend it on. Everything that I have to spend money on, are necessities like ammo for guns, hot dogs for health, pay n' spray for cars and medical bills when I die. Nothing is being spent on amusement like with buying sports cars or homes etc. Yea, I could buy clothes, but there are not many and they are cheap (as opposed to cars and homes which would be priced at $100,000+), so pretty soon I have bought them all. And the medical situation is lame. Your bill should be the same price every time like in previous GTA's instead of 10% of your money. I shouldn't have to pay 10 thousand dollars for a medical bill, simply because I have $100k on me. Thats ridiculous and unrealistic. Also, it was weird playing through the story with Niko and Roman complaining of being in debt, when no even half way through the game, you're paid $250,000 for a bank heist. After that mission, they should not be acting poor anymore.

Making the hospital very expensive is a probably a joke about the cost of health care in America. Ten percent could be an obscure reference to the film Coma where an evil hospital administrator cackles, "These great hospital complexes are the cathedrals of our age." Ten percent is the traditional tithe to a church (the word tithe means one-tenth).

When Niko has over $100,000 the hospital bill is capped at $10,000, so either that's the actual cost for whatever care Niko needs, or Niko has awful health insurance with a $10,000 deductible. As an illegal immigrant he probably can't sign up for insurance or government assistance.

This game suffers from the same thing oblivion does: You are alone.

It would be much better if they had a party system. So if Jacob, Dwayne and Packie came every mission with you, then you could buy them weapons and armor, you'd have money to spend. If they died, you'd have to pay their hospital bill, bail them out, cars they drive, etc. Anyway, the idea of having my 4 friends with automatic weapons in a turismo laying waste to my enemies sounds kind of cool.

Also, you don't pay rent. . . I suppose Roman does. I also assumed that when I get paid, some of my paycheck automagically went to Roman.
