Scigheras Posted October 11, 2010 Share Posted October 11, 2010 Hello everybody this is my first post on the forums, although I've been lurking here for a long time I have all cars in my game modded and of course that results in the taxi bug (taxi's everywhere and not more than 2 different vehicle models on the road). So for at least the last 3 months I've been searching and looking for a solution, Trafficflow and Real Traffic Spawn did not work for me. But I have finaly found one so I thought I should share !!! All you need to do is the following: 1. Download Vehicle Selector by C06alt. 2. When in game press F4 for the Vehicle Selector menu to come up. 3. Use a trainer or whatever to get a lot of money. 4. Buy as much cars as you can (current maximum is 50). 5. Restart game. This mod saves every car you've bought in game, and this means that when u start GTA4 all the cars you've bought will be loaded instantly in the game memory, and therefore these cars will all spawn random in game (at least I think this is how it works). It's really great to finaly have realistic diverse traffic. The traffic is also more realistic because it doesnt spawn just random cars like Real Traffic Spawn, but it spawns the cars exactly the same as if it were a vanilla unmodded GTA4. There is only one thing, the current maximum of cars to buy is 50 wich means no more than 50 random cars can spawn. If C06alt would change his mod so that you can save like 150 cars, all cars in game could be bought one time and then we would have exactly the same traffic as in vanilla GTA4!! Scigheras Posted October 12, 2010 Author Share Posted October 12, 2010 No. And I think that is because the game only has to load the model in the memory, and will then spawn all kinds of variations by itself. The model will be loaded once, because the game has to load the saved car, and then, since the model is in the memory anyway, the game can spawn all kinds of variations of it. If you don't want to spawn the vehicles then don't spawn them, don't even bother pressing F4. This is just to fix the taxi bug not cheating. Sorry for the tiny bump, but Im starting to think that the taxi bug also has something to do with the carcols.dat file getting larger, i say this because i have two cars, which isnt enough to cause a full taxi bug, but i notice whenever im driving a red toyota supra, that their is alot of red cars on my screen, then i drive a blue nissan skyline, and now their is red and blue cars on the screen, i also notice the taxi bug happens more in daytime then nightime, also i noticed if you start a new game with only broker unlocked that their will be alot less more taxis, i teleported to the other islands and then i started seeing more taxis, it seems the game likes having as many islands locked as posible to reduce the taxi bug, mabye someone could do more experimenting on this as right now im a bit busy to test it? It takes significantly longer to load the game (I saw all of the character screens twice), my player model is invisible, my HUD is gone as is the map on the pause menu, and there's still nothing but taxis. The only version I can find is v1.0 Beta, so if anyone knows if theres a newer version or another mod that works with 1.0.7.0, please post here... peank Posted July 7, 2011 Share Posted July 7, 2011 I apparently have the same problems and it is mighty annoying... I dont have any trainers yet so I cant really confirm that this thing will work, however it seems like it is not a solution as it only loads 50 models into memory, if this is even true. Basically if you have a full replacement models for every vehicles (just like some car packs out there), outside of the 50 that are in the list, they never spawn? I tried the traffic control and it just seems to crash my game for whatever reason. The script makes it crash and I'm not even sure why that is. desertfox11194 Posted July 10, 2011 Share Posted July 10, 2011 I don't know about anyone else, but I have a 512MB graphics card and Traffic Control System sucks down video memory just as fast as any other solution. I'm not sure why people say its the only solution for people who don't have top of the line graphics, because it doesn't seem to me that there is one at all for those of us who can't afford a 1GB+ card. My game uses all of my system RAM, all of my VRAM, and 3 GB of a paging file, and still there are textures missing and it eventually goes RESC10. If I remove TCS, everything runs smoothly. Yes it crashes the game. actualy NO not for me for ( eVehicle i = VEH_ADMIRAL; i <= VEH_MAX; static_cast<eVehicle>(i+1) ) { RequestModel2(i); } first off i created an enum for vehicle models only. Note: i added 1 fake car at the end of the enum (VEH_MAX = 0x99999999) then created a second copy of RequestModel() static void RequestModel2(eVehicle model); i put this code in a script with scripthook and bound it to a key then waited till the streets were full of taxi's and then hit my key combo and wallah streets were full of diverse traffic.. i noticed the traffic bug pops up at 757mb or 758mb used on my GPU (1gb dedicated) its predictable lol And although when i loaded my so called fix it seemed to work it was a bit laggy at times and im not sure if it was because i was running in a window with visual studio open and windows media center (watching tv) plus other apps loaded up. (i always do GTA IV testing in a window and do other things at the same time) I have a couple ideas and theories to this problem, first off the pre loading the models idea i think would work better if we detected what area of the map the player was in and then maybe load only the cars used in the cargrp.dat section instead of ALL of them at once I was also thinking i wonder if the root of the problem is some how related to code connected to the Peds. as in they are set to pick cars from cargrp.dat but what if the problem was the peds were having a problem picking the cars they want ?? know what i mean ?? I have also tested the natives related to CAR_GENERATORS and that makes no difference i can bind a key to disable and enable parked cars and it made no difference at all for my tests It may be REAL hard but i think there HAS to be way to FIX this problem and not just band aid the issue.. I really don't ike the idea of using any mods that make me define customs cars, all i want is to be able to use the default cars EXACTLY as they are in game with one difference -> custom car models, thats it. thats all i want LOL Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

jpm1 Posted June 26, 2012 Share Posted June 26, 2012 (edited) if realistic traffic would have been possible it would have been implemented by the company . but when you think of the level of detail of the game it's pretty logical in fact . GTA is overdetailed to look realistic and nowadays hardware just can handle all that data . i have Just cause 2 installed you know and the problem is quite the same , graphics are fantastic but when an AI car turns into a street you can go then into the street and search for it , no way you can find it , the car has just disappeared . i'm fine with the game like that , a realistic traffic would have been perfect but as we say in France we can't have the butter , the butter money and the dairywoman (dairyman) . i'm removing all my city crap in my install and at each step i gain fps , i'll try a traffic script when i've finished it all , but i don't dream too much Edited June 26, 2012 by jpm1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
