The Next Big Thing

What do you think would/should be the next big thing to introduce to the series? What will forever change it?

For those of you that don't know I'm talking about things that have been in the series since it was introduced. To put this in perspective:

Innovations Of The Series

These are just examples, not all of them. With the exception of swimming and helicopters(both absent from LCS) all these things have remained ever since the were introduced. The things in the IV games are added as I feel they're pretty big and it's a safe bet they may remain in the series.

GTA

Since this was the first nothing was technically added.

GTA II

Not to familiar with this installment so I'll leave this alone for now.

GTA III

. 3D third-person perspective.

. Boats

GTA: Vice City

. Motorbikes

. Flyable Helicopters

. Weapons in "classes"

GTA: San Andreas

. Ability to swim

. Free-aim with any weapon

. Place a marker on the map

. Dating

. Showing health of who you target

GTA: Liberty City Stories

Nothing as far as I know.

GTA: Vice City Stories

Same.

GTA IV

. Friends

. Cell Phone

. Re-try Mission

. Taxis

GTA IV: The Lost and The Damned

. Mid-mission Checkpoints

GTA IV: The Ballad Of Gay Tony

. Ability to replay missions after completing the story

GTA: Chinatown Wars

Don't know much about this either but the drug dealing feature seems to be a big deal and may be included from now on.

GTA Next

You tell me. biggrin.gif

Note: This is NOT a wishlist topic!

In Vice City stories:

The Ability to jet ski and go to concerts.

The Next GTA:

Theres not much more R* can add as all I can think of.

Other than maybe triggered eplosives that you can set off in some buildings confused.gif

Maybe the abilty to swim under water, which you couldn't do in GTA IV (lIKE YOU SAID, ITS NOT A WISHLIST).

But what I think would be reall cool , would be to get a crow bar and open up sewerage pipes and drains and be able to go inside then; finding homless and maybe you get to allie up with some.

Just a thought, wanted to be always able to do that. Also, the skdving could improve. More basejumping I think. And

you can do acrobaits in the air

I made a topic simular to this one some months back. I however claimed that GTA is dependent on fundamental changes this time around, to keep recieving good critics. Anyways, It seems like fans have difficulties coming up with new and unique ideas to be incorperated into the game. Most of them focuses on updating allready excisting features or including features from other games. I´m not saying that I´m more creative than the rest of you, but it is crutial being able to think outside the box. After all that is what rockstar tend to do. I have one Idea that I think GTA could benifit from.

Full control over the character:

You know when you can achieve something just by the press off a button? Like when niko defends himself in hand to hand combat; He dodges the punch, gets back in position, punches back with his left arm, then the right arm, spins around 360 and then delivers a fatal kick to his opponents face. Looks cool, but what did we do? Press two buttons, thats all. Wouldn´t it be nice to have more control over his attack-moves?

Same goes for carjacking. You press Y, he approaches the drivers seat, opens the door, aims at the driver with a AK-47, threatens him to exit the vehicle, when he does he whacks the driver´s face with the back of his weapon, then finally he gets in the vehicle. All of this just by the tap of a button! Imagine the possibilities here! If something as fundamental to GTA as carjacking could be transformed to an interactive "minigame", it could refresh GTA without even making any changes to the original formula.

Of course, this feature better be executed in a brilliant way. They shouldn´t make carjacking too hard or too tedious, as it would ruin the game. But if it is done in a good way, this would be awesome. How would you wanna jack a car?

Remember the empire building in Vice City Stories? You would attack a racket established by one of the other gangs, take it over for yourself, and have to defend it periodically from their retribution.

In the event that the main character of the next game ends up in charge of a gang or an empire, I'd like to see them greatly expand on this. Perhaps venturing into legitimate and illegitimate businesses and building those ventures up be it by your own hand or that of your men, as long as there is plenty to do to keep yourself busy after the main mission strands.

Chinatown Wars was released before TBoGT, so CW was the one that introduced the option of mission replay.

As for some new innovations...

...umm...

Destructable environments, maybe? I think GTA V will have a lot of new and exciting things, but none of us would have thought of most of them.

GTA: Vice City Stories

Had building an empire. I really think GTA VCS is underrated, a great game with a lot of original features.

It also had a way deeper story and protagonist then the previous games. It had love, witch at the time was something very new to the series as well.

GTA: Chinatown Wars

Didn't play it (don't got no handheld), but wasn't there some kind of drug trade.

*FACEPALM*

You guys don't get it do you? I'm talking about things that changed the game as a whole, not little things that don't mean much.

In Vice City stories:

The Ability to jet ski and go to concerts.

The ability to jetski is pretty much the same as boats on a smaller scale. Not only that but it's only been in VCS so it's not what I'm talking about.

Remember the empire building in Vice City Stories?

It's only been in that one game so it doesn't count.

Dont forget in sandreas you could fly planes

This too. I didn't "forget" I left that out because it's only in SA. MAYBE VC if you count that seaplane and III if you count that "clipped" Dodo. Also in those 2 flying a plane had pretty much no use thus didn't innovate anything.

Chinatown Wars was released before TBoGT, so CW was the one that introduced the option of mission replay.

As for some new innovations...

...umm...

Destructable environments, maybe?

YES! Someone gets it. Thanks for the info also, didn't know that. Will edit my OP accordingly.

Once again, I know. The problem w/ VCS's original features is that they are ONLY found in VCS, not in games after it like I'm trying to point out.

Thanks for the comments. Sorry if I came across as offensive but I needed to set that straight.
