Should GTA V have an "Undead Nightmare" DLC pack?

Recommended Posts

WhistleBlower

I know that certain mod users in the past have created zombie apocalypse scenarios for PC versions of GTA Vice City and whatnot, but with the upcoming DLC release for Red Dead Redemption I wonder if we'll be seeing something similar for the next Grand Theft Auto title? I mean, if that's the case I think it's likely this will be the first Grand Theft Auto to incorporate a main menu screen similar to Red Dead Redemption. Of course it won't have anything to do with the game's story -- we're just talking about extra bonus content to make the game more fun and brutal.

What do you think?

The zombie game has been done over and over (Nazi Zombies and Zombie Uprising in SR2 to name a couple). I'd prefer to take on wave after wave of Mafia hitmen as it fits in with the theme of GTA whilst having a new take on the survival genre.

I think it would make it too much like Left 4 Dead.

I thought Left 4 Dead's gameplay was awfully repetitive. It also didn't help that it was linear so you could hardly catch a break. I'm sure Rockstar could achieve a lot more since they're famous for their open-world environments.

On the one hand it wouldn't really fit too well, but on the other one... heck, I'd love to play a DLC pack like that. I enjoyed the "Long Night" mod for GTA Vice City very much... I can only imagine what would a zombie mod look like on the latest Grand Theft Auto game.

NO

In my view, we dont need this zombie crap in GTA. I think it is a pointless idea and waste of time and reseources. Just what is the obsession with zombies in video games these days? I really dont understand it. I would much rather have more DLC in the form of new episodes and playing as different character, just like the GTA 4 Episodes of Liberty City. GTA is purely a crime action/simulation game and nothing should alter that in any way, even as an option. GTA should be kept as GTA and left at that.

By the way, there are plenty of zombie games out there for those who are so fixiated with zombie themes. There is Resident Evil 5, Left 4 Dead, Dead Rising, there is a ton of them. Its a different theme altogether and I dont think it has any place in GTA.

Exactly what I meant when I said some people hated fun.

So... sick... and tired... of.... zombies.

Seriously though, Zombies are everywhere; from Red Dead to Left 4 Dead, From Call of Duty to Resident Evil, Saints Row 2 to Dead Rising, Scott Pilgrim to Borderlands...

Zombies are the new FPS games of the gaming; ininspired, overdone, bland and stale.

Go ahead and think of some other DLC pack R*, just no more zombies...

@ xNewtype Acex - No offence bro, but I dont care for what you meant. And no I dont hate fun, that is the very reason why I play GTA games, because I find them fun in the first place DUH! What I do not find fun is having zombies in a GTA game, that would definitely ruin the fun for me. I wanna play as a criminal and have dealings with crime and the underworld and that I find fun, not shooting zombies. There are many other games I can buy for that zombie crap. You do not dictate to me what exactly I should find fun in a game and what I should'nt. I do not find that zombie stuff fun in general - so just accept the fact that there are actually people like me that do not want or like it, rather than tell me that my idea of fun and everybody else's idea of fun should be the same as yours.

Oh wait....By the way, Red Dead Redemption having a new zombie mode does not make me like the game more. In fact, I was p*ssed off to find out that the new Red Dead DLC was about zombies. I was more hoping for some GTA-style episodic content. In my opinion RDR should have stayed zombie-free, but its not so that can give you something big to smile about.

@ Sammii Doogles - I'm with you all the way. I agree with you 100%. That guy Newtype Ace will have a major problem with your comment though - he will see you as a guy who just 'hates fun'. Then again, you probably could'nt give a damn about what he thinks !

I'm just waiting for Madden 11 Zombie Mode. Then the industry will officially be swarmed with zombie games.

@xNewtype Acex, I'm really surprised at you. I thouhgt you'd be the first one to shoot this idea down and spear it. Yet you support a zombie mode in GTA? What is going on here?

Go back and reread my original post.

I say yes, just don't make it part of the story.

and I also said:

That's for the people that hate fun, it would be an optional arcadey mode.

emphasis on:

optional

As in, you don't have to play it, if it was DLC you wouldn't have to buy it, I never said make GTA revolve around zombies, and it is true Zombies are overdone in video games, but there has never been a free-roaming zombie game where you can kill zombies in a huge city, complete with euphoria and dismemberment this would be a great OPTIONAL mode for those that want it. (Dead Rising is good, but it's no quite what I'm saying)

You don't like zombies? Good for you, don't play this mode/buy this DLC, but don't steal the fun of those who want it.

I'll agree though that I would have liked more if the DLC for RDR was expansion packs like a prequel story with Landon Ricketts or more missions with Jack. since I believe that the zombie crisis would have been better in an urban setting.

@xNewtype Acex, I'm really surprised at you. I thouhgt you'd be the first one to shoot this idea down and spear it. Yet you support a zombie mode in GTA? What is going on here?

I love zombies, and I've always wanted a zombie game where you free roam on a huge city while killing 'em, so an expansion pack for GTA would be awesome.

Now as I already said, not a zombie-centered GTA game, but a cheat or arcade mode where all pedestrians turn into zombies, complete with a grim atmosphere, and dismemberment.

I find it surprising to have a topic made here in the GTA V forums related to an idea for a zombie DLC for GTA...

First of all, all this zombie crap is everywhere! From Left for Dead to COD. I mean seriously, if they're gonna make another DLC for GTA for that matter, leave the zombie sh*t out of it, and move on with the base of the criminal enterprises. GTA is going to stay the way it is, unless things are changed of course. But my point is, screw zombies!

@ xNewtype Acex - How exactly can I 'steal the fun' of those who want zombies in the next GTA ? That was a very stupid comment. Just like you said yes to the idea, I've said no to it, its that simple. What if I had said:

" You want zombies? Then buy a zombie game, dont force it on us who dont want it in GTA"

What would you say then? I'm pretty sure you would'nt think I was making any sense there. You cannot force it on us, as you are not GTA's creator. None of us are gonna have a final say in what happens in the GTA game so I really don't see why you felt the need to make that bizzare comment. I'm simply expressing my view point on this idea thats all, I'm not taking anything from anybody.

I dont want zombies in GTA at all and that is the bottom line, even as DLC or optional. Next thing you know, people like you will be asking for aliens and dinosaurs, maybe even a Godzilla. After all, you all think 'its just more fun'. I'd rather the DLC or optional modes be used for something else more directly related to the subject and theme of what GTA is supposed to be about, which is action and crime/organized crime. But that is my opinion as to what I want, its subjective and not factual, so just relax man. Maybe Rockstar will provide an optional zombie mode in the next GTA game and give zombie fiends like you something so nice that will make you all jizz in your pants with excitement.

At least we can agree on the Red Dead part.

CryptReaperDorian

I thought the zombie movie mission in GTA VCS was fun, and the zombie skin in GTA IV multiplayer looked more like a serial rapist. However, I don't want a DLC featuring zombies. The fact is that I'm loyal to the GTA franchise, and I will buy every DLC that comes out for the next GTA. That would in way almost force me to buy a zombie DLC that I really didn't want to exist in the first place. I'm the type of person that wants to have every GTA (I have all but GTA CW and GTA London 1961).

My dislike for zombies in non-zombie related games is how overrated they are. I wouldn't mind the arcade game mode like SR2 had in which the zombies only exist in the game. . . in the game.

" You want zombies? Then buy a zombie game, dont force it on us who dont want it in GTA"

I think you don't know what "optional" means.

But, I'm gonna leave it at that.

You cannot force it on us, as you are not GTA's creator. None of us are gonna have a final say in what happens in the GTA game so I really don't see why you felt the need to make that bizzare comment.

Except I'm not forcing it, the point of this thread is discussing whether the next GTA should have a zombie mode/dlc/whatever, I already said I would like it, and give my reasons why, you already said you didn't like it, gave your reasons and I just tried to refute your statements, plus I even said that if such mode was included, it shouldn't be the main focus of the game and a completely optional feature.

Also, that was not a bizarre statement, and I don't even know why you think it is, it's the same thing with almost every argument about features.

"You don't like X feature? Well, you don't have to use it."

How is that a "bizarre" comment?

I dont want zombies in GTA at all and that is the bottom line, even as DLC or optional. Next thing you know, people like you will be asking for aliens and dinosaurs, maybe even a Godzilla.

"You can't have zombies cause I don't like them!" - You

"It's ok, make it optional and everybody wins." -Me

"NO, NO I DON'T CARE" - You

I already said my reasons why a zombie mode would be awesome in GTA, aliens & dinosaurs I am indifferent.

After all, you all think 'its just more fun'.

More fun? Hell yeah, but fun is subjective, that's why if there was a zombie mode in the next GTA it should be optional.

I'd rather the DLC or optional modes be used for something else more directly related to the subject and theme of what GTA is supposed to be about, which is action and crime/organized crime.

True that, but then again it could just be a "turn all peds into zombies cheat", and there you go, everybody wins, lovely.

But that is my opinion as to what I want, its subjective and not factual, so just relax man.

I was never mad, I'm just surprised why people are against optional stuff to do in a video game.

Maybe Rockstar will provide an optional zombie mode in the next GTA game and give zombie fiends like you something

They already gave us zombie skins for multiplayer, that's a start.

that will make you all jizz in your pants with excitement.

Oh my fellow forumer, you don't know how many pants I'd ruin.

san andreas state

how about like that guy said just keep it as a cheat

its the best comprimise and to be honest i am sick and tired of this pointless topic its called grand theft auto not kill every zombie in sight

if you want zombie buy a freakin zombie game

and is the discussion of jizz neccesary, there are kids on this website (that shouldnt be on it because it is a mature game, 18+), but kids are a huge factor in the gta franchise because probably half the people that buy gta is kid but thats the parents fault

anyways i think we should just keep the zombie crap to a bare minimum (cheat codes)

now that ive thought it over f*ck that sh*t

like that guy said just let me shoot cops and hookers and ill be fine

not to mention sammi was right way to many f*ckin zombie modes/games out already

Wow, since when did "let's discuss whether this OPTIONAL downloadable content for GTA V is a good idea or not" turn into "Let's nerd-rage over something as though it's already been confirmed"? Seriously, I feel sorry for anyone else who wants to bring their ideas to the table if that's how you want to act.
