What do YOU expect in the next GTA?

GTA games since the release of III have become 1 of the biggest videogame franchises in the world. The biggest of last gen and 1 of the biggest of the current gen. I think 1 thing that really hurt IV was expectations. Now this is my opinion because alot of people thought IV was perfect as well as alot who didn't. Since III speculation on what will be in the game has been a huge thing. Then when we finally get that little info and then when more and more info gets released the speculation gets bigger and what people want and what they expect gets crossed into what's going to be in the game.

 

SA for example is a much different game then what was originally expected and what differed from the beta to the released copy. Building and managing a casino, gang turf all over the state, running your gang, team based robberies and o much more were all originally supposed to be in SA but obvious limitations persisted last gen do to the aging technology. Then with IV because how large SA was on last gen technology speculation and the such was huge. The original IV was even supposed to be the entire Liberty State. Then info started coming out and speculation and words from R* went wild. Talk of being able to set up meetings for missions, how there was supposed to be a gang based off MS-13 called C-11 was going to be a major antagonist, how Middle Park was going to be crazy and have stuff after dark such as loonatics, how the projects and certain areas would be more dangerous after dark and much more. Alot of this was speculation, some was internet rumor, others had factual basis and were just cut and so forth.

 

I'm pretty sure anybody who was on here before IV got released and when those 1st trickles of info were coming out witnessed how all the speculation and threads were popping up about what IV possibly could have been with various links to new info, artwork and so forth. That will no doubt happen when the next GTA officially gets released and the Next section is no longer called the next section. My thread however is about what people REALLY expect will be in the next GTA. Alot of people had extremely high hopes with IV and alot of it didn't happen but alot of it was because alot of people including myself thought IV would be SA x10. If what we think will be technically possible. financially possible and realistcily possible for the next GTA I think we'd be able to think what the next GTA may actually be like before the real info comes out.

 

Area:

I don't expect the full USA or international travel but what I do expect is either a large city like LC with much more detail and alot more to do and places to go or maybe a area based on a metropolitan area with 3 or more cities of various size such as the DC,Baltimore, Philadelphia and VA proximity to each other. Or if it's in Vice have the main Vice City based on Miami and the metro area based off Dade County with Miami Beach, South Miami, Opa Locka, Liberty City etc.

 

Cars:

I expect the car physics to be altered so driving isn't as wonky but still has that semi realistic feel. Look at videos of how lambos just breeze down a road and how they hit turns smoothly at quick paces. Now imagine driving an Infernus down a street during a police chase and as it speeds up switching gears to lave the police in the dust. Some type of insurance on cars is something I believe most players want. I personally never drive any of the cars I keep during missions or when trying to cruise the city mainly because I don't want it destroyed and because of the physics it's kinda hard to not push a car in LC and not have it get banged up or worse flipping over. If you have a type of insurance system just pay when your car gets destroyed a certain price and poof your car is back at your garage.

 

Phone:

The phone has become the most important thing in the entire GTA world. Despite the only real meaningful thing is managing contacts and that's about it yet it's still the most important thing in the game world as it would be in the real world. How about letting you advance through phones to pick your style. Not needed but as an option. Let the phone become the hub of your world. Letting you access the internet for all the essintiel things you would need instead of going out your way to a TW@. Basically taking away the pause menu and making the phone the holder of all your stats, mission progress, a sort of GTA parody of Google maps for the game map. Manage your contacts, set up meetings and dates etc.

 

Mission Structure: I think this would be the most welcomed as well as surprising change in the series. When you meet a new contact they'll give you their number like usual since IV but instead the contact location doesn't pop up on the HUD map. If a sort of gameplay element such as Respect or Reputation or even both play a role in the game the contact has to have a certain degree of either or both before contacting you. Once they contact you a meeting place will be selected. Once you complete your mission and is paid then maybe the contact gives you a location such as their home as in past GTAs or maybe the only time they contact you is when they call you or you call them. Once that specific mission strain starts by receiving or calling the contact, the contact marker will pop up on the map where the contact told you to meet them. Or maybe they don't meet you anywhere and hey just tell you what to do for the mission and what to do afterwards.

I really like your ideas, they make a lot of sense to me. I would really like to see these implemented.

like your ideas save for the insurance one. just keep your cars in their parking spots and it'll be fine. as far as area goes i think they could make it a two or even three city game, each city being 3/4 the size of liberty city in IV. as far as mission structure i don't expect this but i would love it if it were more open ended with a respect system like gta 2. side a hates side b, kill lots of members of side b and side a offers you missions. also they never really went back to vice city's asset missions, i'd like to see something like that again. more side missions please! as far as the phone it should be able to do more, back in 2007 when they were finishing the game not everyone had a smart phone. now it seems most people do, with the success of the iphone and droid (i still don't - just got my first phone that can take pictures this year lol). so the GTA V phone will be a smart phone, i do expect that, which means you don't have to go to a computer to surf the web. instead of having to go somewhere to check your email it would be right on your phone. also there would be little games on there you can play.

 

the only thing i expect in the next GTA is there will be some criminal activities, it will take place in some metropolitan area that's a knock off of a real life city, it will be third person and open world. there will be cars and radio stations in the cars. there will be guns. there will be innocent pedestrians. there will be cops. there will be thugs. the game area will be surrounded by water. you will have a smart phone at some point in the game if it takes place in the present day. you will be a human between the ages of 18 and 90.

I expect that GTA5 will keep us entertained till playstation 3 and xbox720 and that it will kick call of duty a55.
