nerner
This has worked on another forum which I casually visit so lets see if it works here too. The football quiz was a reasonably successful idea but as this incorporates many different sports over a long period of time it should be even more popular. The Rules: The object of this contest is to answer the questions posted and to provide the least common correct answer among those submitted. For each question, your score will be equal to the number of people who submitted that response. Your score for each day of the contest will be the product of your individual question scores with each day's score being added together to generate a running total. Lowest score wins. For example: If you answered 'Tampa Bay Buccaneers' to a question, and 5 other people did too, you all score 6 for that question. Your total daily score is the product of all your daily scores. So if you get, say, 1, 1, 7, 9, 4, 3, you'd end up with a total of 1 * 1 * 7 * 9 * 4 * 3 = 756. Your overall score will be the sum of your daily totals. In the (unlikely) event of a tie I will award the leading/winning position to the player who has scored lowest on most occasions. In the (unlikelier still) event of this failing to determine a winner, the winner will be deemed to the player who has scored the lowest total on any day of the quiz. Your answers need not be correct in order to score points. If I ask “Name a World Cup winning nation,” and you respond with “Algeria” - you will score the maximum awarded for that question plus 1 (i.e. - if the highest points awarded is 6, an incorrect answer will score 7). If you fail to respond to any particular day's question set your score will be calculated in the form of a penalty. That penalty shall be equal to the day's highest individual score multiplied by 2. Entries must be sent via the PM system. Entries must be submitted before the stated deadline in each round (this will be approximately 36 hours after the question is set). No collaborating - to be honest you'd be daft to do so anyway as you'd be ruining your chances of a unique answer. All determination of answers and anything else requiring judgement are at my discretion. There will be no appeals or contesting of the results; I will make the final decision. You can, however, reduce the need for doubt and judgement on my part by properly spelling your submissions and being clear with your answers. I will, if necessary, rely on my interpretation of the intent of your answer. So if I asked "Name a Lancashire football club" answers of 'Manchester United,' 'Man Utd, or 'Man U' would be valid, while 'Manchester' or 'United' would not ('Manchester' could easily refer to Manchester City and 'United' may be interpreted as Ashton United). Make your answers clear and concise, as if I cannot identify the intent of your answer you will be assumed to have answered incorrectly (see earlier example). Good luck!! Seddo
I know the aim is for unique answers but what about Googling answers, is that valid? Edited September 27, 2010 by Seddo
nerner
I know the aim is for unique answers but what about Googling answers, is that valid? Google could in some cases be the only way for you to find answers. But in a way the point is to find answers which you don't think that others will get. So yeah, google is encouraged. darthYENIK
I definitely used google on all questions except the first (I have no knowledge of soccer trivia, so that was just a guess), and the NFL and hockey questions. More hockey questions, please.
Ari Gold
More soccer questions. To keep it interesting, make sure that there are no two questions about one sport in one round. Also, I'm assuming that the 'winner' is the one with the lowest score. But if I miss a few rounds, aren't I guaranteed the lowest score anyway? I'm really not going to be coming onto this forum everyday just to check this trivia quiz.
nerner
Your score per round will be taken into account if there is a discrepancy between rouns participated in by you and by others. But lets not worry about that yet. Some of the answers so far have been insanely popular. This round will be left open for another 48 hours, therefore will close at 4:30pm on the 1st of October GMT. The next round's theme will be announced then and so will the scores.
