LOLZpersonok
My game lags on my computer. Yes, I meet the minimum requirements, but the game lags still. I have the lowest settings. It still lags. My specs are: Windows XP Home SP3 ATI Radeon HD 4670 1 GB VRAM 2.50 GB RAM AMD Antholon Dual Core 2.11 GHz Processor Before, I made the game run smoothly. But I can't remember how I did this. Does anybody have a solution? Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/459876-gta-iv-performance-issue/ Share on other sites
mkey82
Previously you probably had some different GPU driver/game version. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/459876-gta-iv-performance-issue/#findComment-1060139074 Share on other sites

LOLZpersonok
Previously you probably had some different GPU driver/game version. Yes, the Graphics Card in my computer was different. It was a Nvidia GeForce 6100. But I had another computer, same specs (except OS) and it had a new graphics card installed. It had no lag/slow performance issues. So I have no idea what's going on. mkey82
It was running smoothly on a GF6100? Otherwise, you're low on processing power and that's killing you. Which patch are you using? LOLZpersonok
It was running smoothly on a GF6100? Otherwise, you're low on processing power and that's killing you. Which patch are you using? Okay. First, I said I was using an ATI Radeon HD 4670 graphics card with 1 GB of video ram. Second, it is low lag, not to bat, but undesirable. The game runs smoothly with the same specs on another computer. Third, I believe my patch is a 1.0.7.0. The supposedly most recent patch. I'm not getting mad, or anything. P.S. My game cost me $50 for nothing. If I can't get this slow performance gone, I am not going to be happy. The game ran smoothly on THIS computer, with THESE CURRENT SPECS. And no, GTA IV will kill a Nvidia GeForce 6100. Modern Warfare 2 runs smoothly on this computer. No probs there... And no, I never tried the game on 6100...I know it will give me RESC10 error. mkey82
You mention the 6100 yourself, I asked what changed on the PC from the last time you ran GTAIV. Patch 7 usually hinders performance but you will need it for online. Patch 7 usually hinders performance but you will need it for online. Okay, so here's the full story. I had a computer that I gave to a family member. Before that, I had it for gaming. It had a Nvidia GeForce 6100 graphics card. It had same processor as this one, and same RAM. It has Windows Vista Home Premium. It was upgraded to a Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT graphics card, but it still had performance issues with GTA IV. I don't remember what I did to fix that, but now I have this computer. It's specs are: Windows XP Home SP3 2.50 GB RAM 2.11 GHz processor ATI Radeon HD 4670 1 GB VRAM The game HAS run smoothly before. I don't know why it won't now. This computer had a RAM upgrade, from 1 GB to 2 and a half GB It had a graphics card upgrade, from a Nvidia GeForce 6100 to ATI Radeon HD 4670 1 GB VRAM Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/459876-gta-iv-performance-issue/#findComment-1060148665 Share on other sites
mkey82
OK, the last time it ran smoothly, you were probably using some other game version (I guess it's not patch 7 nor 6 as those take away performance from most people) and most probably some other GPU driver version. I recommend trying with patch 4 and CAT 9.8. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/459876-gta-iv-performance-issue/#findComment-1060149023 Share on other sites

LOLZpersonok
It's the ATI catalyst software package. You can it here http://www.ngohq.com/home.php?page=files&g...veme&dwn_id=898 That update is for Windows Vista - and with patch 4 the game won't run. The oldest patch I can get is 1.0.6.0.
