What Things Annoyed You In GTA IV?

Recommended Posts

*Waits for the typical GTA IV complaints such as not having anything to do, not having as many features as SA, the social system etc.*

Well it's true...

On Topic: The only thing I didn't like was the 200 flying rats. Such a painstaking, and pointless thing to partake in really.

I don't see what's wrong with those complaints.

I was going to say the friends system, but I guess I should just shut up if I don't like IV....

Never said there's anything wrong with them. Just rather "typical" that's all.

True, but typical usually means that it's an actual problem and not just some fluke for one person.

When you post in a game specific forum, it's likely you'll hear a lot of the same things being said over and over again because there's only so much to be said about the game.

You know I think the game is awesome but it'd be great if they had a way of scaling the randomisation.

It's more a limitation of hardware, but if there _was_ a way I could hotrod my PS3 and double the RAM, then it'd be good to have all kinds of cars on the street instead of the same three or four appearing, especially the way it works in MP. I go out to the parking lot and there's a choice of two cars to grab.

No safehouse in broker/dukes

So Niko lived in the gutter when he first arrived in Liberty City? tounge2.gif

shame it got burnt down

Not really. You can still save vehicles in the parking space, so its exclusion wasn't that big of a deal.

yeah but I would have preffered being able to save my game there. In game I hardly ever end up in broker/dukes because theres no safehouse . I would have liked a safehouse in meadow hills/willis near where packie and little jacob live

For startes:

1. Stupid no brain peds that walk around everywhere and bump at anything (Mostly Niko).

2. Stupid drivers that always needs to pass around you and hitt you on the back of the car.

3. Some of the glitches and bugs that I run'd to.

4. Few harder missions.

5. Safehouse in Alderny.

And that's all smile.gif

I love almost everything about gta and especially IV....it SO lived up to the hype where I am concerned. I feel compelled to respond to something that was mentioned in a couple of replies: No checkpoints in missions? this is GTA! there has NEVER been checkpoints in missions, except for the very LAST mission. IV is no exception to this tradition.

1. I would have liked the "trip skip" feature brought back. "Catch the Wave" was a boring and long trip only to have Phil eat a bullet

2. 200 flying rats was a bit much, tho I loved the concept! 50 from each major island would have been plenty! in total, SA had more hidden packages than IV, with the 100 tags, 50 photos, 50 horseshoes, and 50 oysters (250 total). So, in perspective, I can live with 200 pigeons easy enough.

3. not enough rewards for accomplishments. IV is the first gta where weapons are not stockpiled in your safehouse (fixed in EFLC). with 200 pigeons, it would have been nice to see a reward after every 20 or so (gta III rewarded a new weapon every 10 packages).

4. no proofed cars to collect. its been a gta tradition to be able to find (sometimes creatively) bulletproof or damageproof vehicles. I know this adds to the realism in the game, but I really miss this aspect of GTA. (this is probably my biggest beef with IV)

My dislikes about GTA IV:

1. Francis McReary - Its not just the fact that the guy was pure scum, he was an overly interesting character tbh, the corrupt cop has been done so many times before. I was more than happy to stck a bullet in his head.

2. Dating - I wouldn't have minded if the girlfriends were a bit more entertaining, but none of them were the least bit interesting and were all quite annoying.

3. Friends - I don't think that this is a bad concept, as it was a good way of finding out more about different characters and the conversations really added to the story effectively. The reason why it is on my list of dislikes is because it is annoying to always have to drive from one side of the city to the other just to pick them up for a two minute activity.

4. Scripted chase sequences - The fact that the chases were scripted took the excitement out of some the missions.

5. Flying Rats - Killing them is more mundane then hunting for packages. At least with the packages you got rewarded along the way.

Despite these problems, I do believe that IV is the strongest GTA of the series. R* did a fantastic job by including a captivating story (unlike SA which was just ridiculous) and by getting the basics right (aiming, cover and vehicle handling etc) they have laid the foundations for a fantastic sequal (or prequal).

You'r right there were more hidden things in SA, but they were varied up at least so it didn't get repetitive as quickly. And you didn't have to worry about cop chases while collecting them. Oh, and SA was a lot cooler to explore while getting hidden packages imo.

For Me

1 Cops keep shooting at you when you are already dead

2 no checkpoints

3 brucie and dwayne getting mad at you just because you dont call them for a long time to hang out

4 4 stars in drug wars(The Ballad Of Gay Tony)

5 Gang members using grenades in gang wars(The Lost And Damned)

6 getting 3 stars for shooting a cop(why cant they keep it like the old games?)

7 having to choose between killing dwayne and playboy(i loved both of them and i wish R* didnt add the mission where have to choose to kill pbx or dwayne)

8 R* could have added a new island

9 Too many cops(I dont see that many in real life)

The police aren't an issue for me, sure the AI could be better but I'm sure R* will sort it out in V. As for there being too many cops, when I was in NY last year I saw more cops then I do in LC.

I don't like its shadows! It is horrible in my pc, like it was sprayed! I don't know if in your pcs is like that. I didn't liked some plot events, like when Ray Boccino died but I loved the game!!!!! It's very fun to drive on it, and the city is very detailed!!!!!!!! I like the music, I don't know why so many people complain about it. But I think it should have a country station, but maybe country isn't popular in NY. I hate to kill pingeons because they are very cute, but I like to chase thinks like secret packages, oysters, horseshoes and things like that, because we get more used to the map. I hate the GPS voice!!! I like to hang out with friends, I guess the other GTA's would be a lot better with this feature, but I hung out with my friends so many times that they stopped to talk sad.gif !

No replay editor for consoles. It's so damn annoying, I have an awesome moment then realise I'm playing the console version.

Yes. If Rockstar made the Video Editor available through DLC, I'd be willing to pay a ridiculous amount for it. What I wouldn't do to be able to record my own clips, even if the editor itself had to be reduced slightly (due to RAM).

I loved GTAIV, but some things that I didn't like:

-The "friends" thing. It's a cool concept, but needs to be done better. Drive across the city to pick them up (why can't they meet you as people do in real life) and then bring them back home. What the heck? Am I a chauffeur?

-This is NYC. There should be places to eat EVERYWHERE. I had to drive around at times to find a place to eat to replenish my health.

-Alderney could have been done a little better. Don't like the "sky" highway and it's just a clumsy borough.

-Algonquin should have 5x as many cars and pedestrians. Ever been to Manhattan? It's congested as heck. I know there's hardware limitations, but it should be even busier. And yes, I know about increasing the traffic density.

-I felt like the action revolved around me too much. I should be a part of the city, not THE city. More accidents, more crap the pedestrians get themselves into. Police cars chasing regular cars, etc etc. Not that stupid solitary cop running with his gun out after a lone pedestrian. It would be funny to have some random guy that I didn't piss off just hijack me or rob me.

RJHNY1 I like the friends thing, but I agree with you, almost everytime we have to be their chauffeur! Bring them at home sometimes it's OK, but not everytime! And I agree, there should be more places to eat. I don't agree with Alderney, I think it's way more interesting than Liberty City, I love it and I love its Plumber Sky Highway, it's very cool to drive it. I agree about Algonquin, I think maybe that's why I don't like Angonquin thaaat much, it would make more sense if it was more congested. And I agree about the city, I think more random things should happen viddy_pirate.gif
