Hate having to insert my disk always, don't you?

Recommended Posts

there are plenty of methods, no dvd cracks etc etc, easiest is to buy the game from steam or some other digital content provider. discussion of other ways to do it and where to get them are against the forum rules.

I hate the disc because the securom makes my DVD drive spin the disc for a long time and make a horrible racket. It's stupid that pirates can play this without any hassle but we have to faff about with disc even though we used online activation etc.

My sentiments exactly. Its cumbersome to play the game on breaks at work as the drive has work related cds - would have to lug around the disk and switch thereby increasing the odds of disk scrathes etc,.. sigh. Peter paying for Paul.

If talking about GTA4 then there is an official legit patch from R* which removes the securom CD check, it doesn't work for the DVD release of EFLC though which is annoying!

There is a similar one for the EFLC DVD release too.

There is? I couldn't find one, will have another look.

A mod actually condones this?

Why in all my years...

But seriously, I have the Steam launcher for EFLC. Want a PM?

Besides that event, when securom had shared a no-dvd launcher on their site (can't find that thread because the search doesn't work), you could play the game without a disc since its release just by replacing the launcher with the steam-version one, which is almost the same (different version). The same with EFLC.

Anyway, I can't get why are you so bothered with legit ways. You have bought a game, you have activated it, you know that you are not breaking the law, so why not just using some crack to simply avoid an annoying cd-check? Is it some kind of principle?

I wasn't aware it was removed, whatever the reason it shouldn't suddenly make it illegal to my thinking. Besides our rules are mainly about not posting links to cracks or telling people openly where and what to do.

Because this prevents things like using Live or playing online. Some people like these things.

Actually the ''official'' method does not prevent you from playing online or using live, everything works and why shouldn't it?

Your game is legit and fully activated and verified by Rockstar and GFWL.

Maybe if you use some kind of pirate crack it might break things but I can only guess about that one.

As long as game is activated, it will work. The official no-cd fix does just that, removes the CD check as Securom sucks major ass on some PC and legitimate software license owners can't get it working properly under any conditions.

Power users will never bow to corporate douchebaggery. You do as you wish - just don't come back to us crying and accusing of "breaking rules."

Sorry, wasn't my intention to break any rules.

I already tried making an ISO of DISC 1 on my HDD and mounting it.

^ Double standards. These two statements are contradictory.

He made an ISO out of his original disc. So what, you can do that w/ Nero and any other burning application.

Only that he goes around accusing legit users of "breaking the rules" while talking about making ISOs himself.

Actually, if you have a mate who has gotten the steam version of EFCL, aks him to send you his LaunchELFC.exe, that will most certainly work on your DVD version of the game. (I use it myself smile.gif)

I guess it's some kind of principle for a lot of people and I can understand. To some I also guess that using a crack is encouraging pirates to do their work because they know in some way (host traffic monitoring tools) that people are downloading their program.

I didn't check cause I use my disc too but I don't like using my disc all the time. There's always this chance of the disc to break because you use it too much lmao. Yes it did happen to me. I was playing Diablo 2 for a long time and then 1 day, BAM, the disc broke to tiny piecesinside while it's inside my cd-rom. It also broke my cd-rom player on my computer... no surprise there. I was freaking out ...especially by the amount of damage that cd caused lmao.

Can't steam figure a way to insert your cdkey in their system so it's registered so you don't have to use your disk.
