Build Up Your San Andreas Gang

Welcome to Build Up Your San Andreas Gang

Theme of the Week September 18 Rooftop Action

Welcome to Build Up Your Gang: San Andreas Edition, the famous BUYG game created solely for the gangs of San Andreas state. The game is simple: pick a gang and write stories about them; you get graded and paid for each story, the money can be used to buy guns, vehicles, locations, rackets and businesses, drugs, and new gang locations. All of these can be used to make your stories more interesting; more interesting stories means more money. Do you have what it takes to build your gang to rule over the drug market, to have the best henchmen in San Andreas, where every stinking penny counts?

Have fun and enjoy the game!

Kaizer Chief and the BUYSAG Staff

These kind-hearted fans will contribute to the running of the game. They will rate stories and offer comments. The BUYSAG staff consists of:

Rules1. Read all rules carefully before enlisting into a gang.2. Proofread your work, all stories must be typed up on Microsoft Word or another equivalent writing program that can pick up small mistakes.3. Don't post half finished stories or stories with half a plot; make sure it has a beginning, middle and end.4. Flaming: if you flame anyone, your character and stories go up in flames with you, and you receive permanent banning from the game as well. Also, no non-BUYSAG-related talk; however, you can discuss ideas, threads and plans for future BUYSAG stories.5. No double posting; if you have something else to say, re-edit your post.Guidelines1. Each gang starts out with $1,000, a few weapons and a minimum of one vehicle.2. You may not use any weapons, vehicles, or other gang trades which you have not purchased; if you want to sell anything your gang owns you will receive half the price you purchased it for.3. Any BUYSAG staff may choose to randomly confiscate items, weapons, vehicles and rackets and businesses. Take note that your gang will only receive confiscations if you have begun buying drugs. Confiscations will be dealt every Sunday, along with asset cash distribution.4. The BUYSAG staff will PM you if you have been inactive for a significant amount of time asking for you to post in the topic within the week; if you do not, then you will be wiped from the tables.5. If you decide that you want to switch gangs, then your story count so far is bracketed. Each new story you write is added to the bracketed number, as well as starting afresh with an unbracketed number. The bracketed number is used for multiple of five bonuses. The unbracketed number is used for other rewards, such as weapons and vehicles, as well as unlocking the bonus vehicles for your gang.6. If you wish to expand your gang's property, you must purchase new properties. Simply declare a location within San Andreas for your gang to have. If you’re buying a property which is in a city where your gang is already established, then it’ll cost $300. If you wish to expand to another city, it’ll cost $600.7. You must show respect to the gang leader and to the higher-ups of the gang.

Rackets, Assets, and Businesses
Rackets, Assets, and Businesses are a great way to earn your gang large sums of money. Rackets are the illegal way to earn cash while Businesses are more or less the formal and legal way to earn cash. However, they all go to the gang's cause and if the feds find them, they will be confiscated.

How to work rackets and businesses and assets is very simple, it only requires two things: a building and an asset — the asset is the only income you receive as the buildings themselves generate no income. Each Racket/Business costs an initial fixed price. Upon purchasing a Racket/Business, you gain ten free Assets. Once you purchase a building and assets, they will be displayed in your gang's box.

All additional Assets cost one quarter of their racket or business's initial price. So if you purchased a weed farm, it'd cost you $1,200, and you'd get 10 assets along with the purchase. This means that each week you'd earn $350. If you pay this $350 for an additional asset, then the next week you'll earn $385, and so on. Only three rackets or businesses can be owned by a gang at one time.

Drug Rules and Regulations
1. Once your gang purchases drugs, the only problems are with the authorities of San Andreas (i.e., the BUYSAG Staff).
2. In order to be able to use drugs functionally within your gang, you must post two stories: One describing you buying the drugs, the other showing you selling the drugs.
3. BUYSAG Staff will act as San Andreas Feds, FBI and police. We have the power to confiscate weapons, cash and vehicles, randomly. However if you feel like you are being treated unfairly, any of the staff will be more than happy to cooperate. If you don't like something being confiscated, maybe you should have stayed out of the drug game, playa.
4. Money from the Wholesale amount will immediately be added to your gangs money status.
5. Do not abuse the drug system, buying increased amounts over and over will result in the Feds finding you and confiscating all of your stash. You are limited to 3 drug purchases a week.

Other solid ways to make money...

Theme of the Week
Every Sunday, a staff member will post a new THEME for the week. The theme will usually be a common gang activity, such as "breaking out of jail" or "heavy shootout". Each theme will be accompanied by a few rules, and during the week, all writers can post stories related to the theme, and earn a small bonus. The amount of the bonus will be dictated by how good your theme story/stories are. Some themes will require a single story, while others might require more than one. For the current theme of the week, look at the top of this post.
Gang Wars
Gang wars are another great way to make money; the rules of a gang war are simple. A gang war is initiated by one gang member addressing another, if the gang member accepts then it will start. They're a great way to add some exciting action into your gang members' lives. A gang war consists of 3 stories: a beginning, a middle, and an end. Each member must write three of them; the winner will win a cash prize of 20% of the loser’s cash, and either a vehicle of their choice in the loser's garage, or one of the losing gang's properties. One BUYSAG staff will moderate the gang wars. They, and only they, can solely decide the winner, depending on detail, grammar, and punctuation, among other criteria.
Bounty Hunts
Every once in a while, BUYSAG staff members will post a bounty. The staff member will specify a target’s name, and the conditions and locations where he can be found. The staff member will specify the amount of chapters that writers need to write in order to complete the bounty. The first writer to write that amount of chapters, describing the bounty hunt and conforming to the provided details, will win the bounty. Bounties will vary in reward; it is logical that larger bounties will require more chapters and might even involve multiple targets.
Also, to diversify things a bit...

Create Gangs
In this version of the game, you have the possibility to create new gangs that you must join in when you created them, which means that you must say "Adios" to your previous gang for 10 chapters. It'll cost $500, which will be taken from the new created gang's account. That means that the new gang will start with $500. The zones that they'll have will be your decision but weapons and cars must be approved by the staff. You can only create a new gang and join it if you have written 10 chapters for your old one or if you have a total of ten chapters with your bracketed chapters number.
Have fun!

Alright, I've re-launched this, grabbing codes from a bunch of places. Note: I've tried to keep things simple. No more ridiculous rewards for 120 stories, no more police departments/civilians (this is BUYG after all), no more BUYSAG Corp (we can call ourselves the staff because that's what we are) and certainly no cents in the prices. Just the good ole BUYG with some tweaks.

If anyone's got suggestions or anything, post them. Otherwise, let's try to fan the near-dormant flame of BUYG by joining and posting stories!

EDIT @Tyla: I saw your incredibly helpful post a little too late (right after I clicked "Post New Topic" for this topic, in fact!). Those codes would've helped a lot, though thanks anyway. Regarding the prospect of including Vice and Liberty Gangs, I guess you have a point, although to be honest I think we could simply not encourage people to create Vice and Liberty versions of BUYG, since barely any people frequent those forums anyway.

Sound mate, nice work.

By the way, last version when you bought a business, it'd come with 10 assets instead of 1.

Do we still have the rule that if you haven't used a weapon/car that your gang has in any of your stories, then you can sell it for full price, but if you have used it, it sells for half?

Could I join the Ballas at the Idlewood Crack House please.

Thank you. And ain't no one going to be hacking my account either.

I like that rule, and I agree that without it it'd be a terrible deal to buy assets.

The other one seems like a trivial rule to me. Most default weapons don't sell for much anyway. And in other news, I'll join the Triads at Wu Zi Mu's office.

Geez... All my Red Jacks chapters are in flames...

Guess I will take another gang. Let's say; The Leone Mafia Family at the Caligula's Casino.

P.S. The "San Fierro" for "Wang Cars" with the "Grove Street Families" is green instead of lightblue.

The Leone Mafia Family, the Forelli Brothers and the Sindacco Family should have three properties like the other gangs or at least, we could add another property to the Forelli Brothers.

Both of you added. Good spot on the colors, Landstalker. About the Forellis, what do you think would be a good property? I don't think the Forellis were featured at all in SA, we simply gave them The Visage because it was assumed that they had a stake in Las Venturas's casinos.

The Forellis are a Liberty based gang though, thats why they only have one property because they don't have claim to anything else. The Sindaccos could have the printing factory seen as they counterfeit chips to taunt Woozie. The problem with the families is that its all a casino thing with them in San Andreas so there isn't really a lot else left to do with them. I haven't access to the game or else I'd try provide some solutions.

Guess you could probably give them one of the smaller hotels/casinos or something? Like the pirate hotel/casino (the one with the pirate ship outside it) or something?

Also, can we start posting stories or should we wait for the original frequent visitors to join in first?

Thanks.

I don't know but I am thinking of two spots. The final choice is yours, though.

The Safehouse in Creek (Las Venturas) or the Safehouse in Redsand West (Las Venturas) even though CJ owned them.

EDIT: And the Sindacco Family should have the "Chip Factory" they owned before CJ killed all of them for Woozie (Wu Zi Mu).

Omini: Start posting whenever, the sooner the better!

Landstalker: I like the safehouses idea. They're quite isolated, which would suit a Mafia hideout. I'm thinking we could give the Creek one to the Forellis and the Redsands West one to the Leones. Then, the Sindaccos can have the chips factory and then the three Mafia families will all have three spots each. (We could also give the Pirates in Men's Pants to Forellis) Thoughts?

EDIT: Meanwhile...

Theme of the Week (Sept. 18)

The theme for this week is Rooftop Action. This means any sort of combat that takes place on a rooftop. You will need to write only one chapter to claim the bonus for this week's TOTW.

The reward for this week's TOTW is as follows:

  • In addition to your chapter's rating, you will be given a bonus of 400% (i.e., you will earn 5 times your story's rating).
  • An added bonus of $50 will be given if the story involves someone falling from the rooftop in epic fashion (as determined by the rater)
Good luck!

A reminder to staff that stories are being graded out of $100.

?Pirates in Men's Pants?

I'll get working on my Chapter 1 now then... has been ages since I've done any form of creative writing...

Though the houses out in Creek and Redsands West seem a bit... small... for Mafia activity? To me the safehouse up in Prickle Pine seems a lot more likely to house the mafia.

Good call... I guess the Forellis can have Prickle Pine then. Now that I think about it, Creek is really tiny. tounge.gif

That's because Creek is a motel/apartment room... if the mafia owned the entire motel/apartment complex, then it would be fine really... I think tounge.gif I can't really remember just how exactly big/small it is.

May I recommend adding another feature called "Raid"? Where you raid law enforcement for arms, and the amount of weapons and what weapons you get from that is determined by who ever rates the story.

The weapons received from raids would be limited. Such as you'd only get between perhaps 1-3 weapons and would be displayed accordingly (eg. AK-47 (3) would imply you have 3 AK-47s available). Using a weapon you have limited supply of would bring your weapon count down by 1, but in the story you can have your entire gang wielding the weapon and it would still only be bring the count down by 1. To limit it of course, you could say only do 1 raid a week or something? Maybe even 1 raid per gang as opposed to 1 raid per poster. Just a suggestion there biggrin.gif

Interesting. I suppose it could work, although we'd need some more rules in place to determine what weapon is received, I think. Leaving it all to the rater is a bit too subjective. What do you think of:

  • One raid a week, per gang.
  • You could personally choose what weapon you get. You would do this by mentioning it in the story. However, you can only raid weapons of which you already possess one of its category (i.e., you could only raid for an SMG if you had either a Tec-9 or a Micro-SMG).
  • The amount you get would depend on the rating. For $80 to $100, you'd get 4. For $60 to $80, you'd get 3. $40 to $60, 2; $20 to $40, 1. And below $20 would mean that your story sucked and the raid failed.

Thanks buddy. I do think the current banner we've been using is unnecessarily large though. We should use a smaller banner, or just some welcome text, like it is now. Graphics shouldn't be everything in BUYG.

I think the weapon you receive should depend on where you try to raid. Perhaps you get to choose the weapon, but also the likelihood of that weapon being in the location you raided should effect it in some way. You're obviously not going to get a M4 from a police station. Though the idea of raiding for the likes of a SMG would be so people could get the chance to write about an effective drive by, but if they already have an SMG to do it, then there's no point in raiding. Unless of course you can sell the guns you raid on the black market.

I like the setup you guys have here. biggrin.gif MOVING ON.

Raid rewards could also include extra 'stashes' from the evidence locker or something. You could use a random number generator to 'roll' the reward.

For the first time in my life (I think), I'll try to write at the third person of the singular, for my chapters.

Nevermind. I'll stay with my usual syle.

Landstalker: They've been eliminated. I thought they were too similar and over-complicated things.

Omini: Way more unrealistic things have happened in BUYG wink.gif Anyone remember lynchem'all? Yeah, but anyway, I don't want to introduce anything too strict. I think we should have fairly lax policies that allow people to make decent money — big money if they try hard — but not crazy money. I can tell you that in BUYG, after a while which weapons you use in your stories become less and less important to you. I will have a think on the Raids feature.

This is my first time in a BUYG, so where the line is - I've no clue. But if anything comes to mind for improving the Raid aspect then I'll be sure to let you know.

Ok. What about if there's a gang, the winner gets a 'hood of his/her choice from the opposite gang.

It is praticly like in the game. CJ attacks a Ballas 'hood. The Gang War starts. The winner keeps or win the territory.

What about the winner of a gang war gets to choose to take a free vehicle of their opponent's, or a free property?

Do what you want to do.

My last question; What about the Loco Syndicate? They are, basically, a gang. Even though CJ Wiped them, they could be a great asset to the game.
