Shall i buy the cd or download the dlc

Recommended Posts

Ive got an xbox which my cousin plays, he always play GTA IV. So i leave the disk inside, i have the Lost and Damned DLC so he can load a save and play it.

But i want TBOGT now, i was wondering if i download the DLC i would still be able to play it with the GTA IV disk inside.

And if i bought GTA Episodes which obviously comes on disk, then to play the vanilla GTA IV, i would need to take out the GTA Episodes and put the vanilla GTA IV, right? But what if i load the saves from GTA Episodes whilst i have the vanilla GTA IV, will it ask me to insert the GTA Episodes or can i load and play it with vanilla GTA IV disk inserted?

If you download TBoGT, you'll be able to play it with the GTA IV disc inside. The advantage of the DLCs is that by downloading both episodes, you can play IV, TLAD, and TBoGT without the need to switch discs. Plus, you get a complete and combined soundtrack that you can listen to on the radio in all three games.

Any save that you make on EFLC can still be continued with the DLCs and vice versa, but only if you have the DLCs.

I bought the disc set for EFLC, and was very dissapointed when I couldn't play them straight from the start menu of IV. It seems like for those of us who bought the discs, we should be able to (with verification of purchase) download the content for free and have access to the advantages Shinsta312 mentioned. I regret not going with the DLC as I really do NOT want to buy it TWICE!!! (no matter how much I enjoy it)

Yeah, I always buy games, I don't trust the download feature. And I don't trust Ebay or Amazon either. One of my friends ordered an Xbox 360 and got an empty box after he payed in advance for that. Call me old fashion but I go to the store and grab the game, it's so much easier and reliable.

well the only pro of the DLC that ive heard is all the music and TV shows are combined from the 3 games into one.

there are 2 cons. 1 is DLC can cause issues plus u have to worry about backing it up if you get a new PS3, or running low on HDD space if you have a first gen. PS3 like i do.

the other con is its $10 more for the DLCs. $19.99 EACH at the PSStore while the disc is $29.99 for both eps.

i say having all the songs isnt worth 10 bucks, since most of us dont play this game for the music as much as the crime wink.gif

plus EfLC features a pretty good soundtrack (perhaps better than vanilla IV)

don't forget another PRO to DLC and a CON to discs: switching discs between games...I play these games so much, I'm afraid the discs are wearing out!

I've already had to buy III, VC, and SA twice because the discs became worn to the point they wouldn't read anymore!

someone told me about no-cd cracks you can get to save the discs, is there any value to this?

you just conned your own pro and proed your own con

if playing a game too much wears out the disc, then it would be a pro to get the EfLC disc so you dont wear out the IV disc. if you buy the DLC then you will be using GTAIV disc all the time. switching discs may be a hassle, but i dont think anyone plays this game for less than an hour at a time so when disc changing time comes, so does taking a break, going to the bathroom, etc.

i still dont think DLC is at all worth it for $10 more, that con probably outweighs the rest.

I got TLAD and TBOGT via the Playstation Store. I think it was worth it, since the soundtrack is now combined (GTA IV Soundtrack plus TLAD/TBOGT soundtrack), and I can switch from TLAD/TBOGT back to GTA IV without the need to change the discs.

old question relating to this kinda, is it possible for EFLC boys and DLC heteros to play together in multiplayer?

On PS3 and PC yes, on Xbox 360 yes for TBoGT and no for TLAD, due to Xbox TLAD DLC being older version and not updated.

On PC, I'd say DLC is the best bet because you could find all the music that's exclusive in EFLC and put it on Independence FM and have almost everything at once.
