Convert Retail Save to Steam?

I was just wondering if this was possible at all. I'm kinda adept with hex editors, if that could help. I'm only about half-way through the game...far enough where I don't want to start over, but not far enough that I wouldn't mind missing the rest of the game.

Steam is version 3, which uses version 2 saves...

No, I didn't want the game completed. I just wanted my save.
