Aside from the BORAT voice...

Recommended Posts

One thing I 'HATE' most about GTA4 is how Niko your character apologizes for EVERYTHING he does! It's so bloody annoying!

I hope they do away with the character voice because he's just not going to think what is on the players mind whilst playing. For example you kill that cop whose been shooting you and ducking behind trees - you finally get him and think 'HA! GOT YA PUNK!' - but then your character voice ruins it by saying "Sorry man!" or "My bad, sorry" or some other dumb ass apology.

I also don't like how your character twitches and never stands still for more than 2 seconds. I prefer the old GTA3 character - silent and still - a stone cold killa!

No, you're wrong. He does infact say sorry and various apologese after shooting people. He never backs up or verbally justifies his own actions. He criticises his own actions.

Not cool, sorry.

My bad.

Sorry man.

Sorry.

etc etc etc

I also despise how they made him WARN people compulsively before killing them. I just want to brutally kill - not sympathise and show reason/mercy/empathy - JUST KILL!

Don't MAKE me kill you.

Stay down.

Don't get up.

You WANT me to finish you?

Do you WANT to die?

Don't make me finish you off.

I WARN you, don't get up.

etc etc etc

I think he's only being sarcastic. I love Niko but you're right CLAUDE IS THE BEST inlove.gifinlove.gif

About the voice, I'm the only one who thinks Niko's voice is almost identical to Cesar Vialpando's voice?

I can't understand why you might want that, but it's a normal human reaction to show remorse.

Total psychopaths are the only kind of people who don't experience some kind of blow-back after murdering someone.

Ok, here's why I would want it. After you kill say over 40,000 in GTA4 (as I have and not online either) - it becomes very unrealistic that your character Niko should still have the CAPACITY for remorse/empathy/compassion. I think it's safe to say that anyone who kills over 200 people is likely a psychopath devoid of these normal human emotions. But when your character has murdered thousands in cold blood - it's extremely unlikely he would express apologies and warnings when doing violence to people.

If you're criminal rating says you're psychopath after killing hundreds of people, then the game's rating system must consider you the devil himself after killing droves of thousands.

Say, you are methodically portraying a serial killer in the game - stalking and killing innocent people for no reason what so ever. It completely ruins the effect and vibe you're trying to achieve when you're character starts apologising and reasoning - warning people etc. I want the next GTA character in GTA5 to be likened to Michael Myers in Halloween. Cut some ones head off with a peice of broken glass, carry it for a bit, disregard it - dropping it to the floor - with zero compassion or remorse - and no words, no talking.

Lets face it - Niko, and every other GTA character we play as is DESTINED to be a psychopath mass murdering stone cold killer - because it's goes with the territory within the game. You can't play this game without killing people - if not by accident running them over etc, then by jobs you take on where killing is how you complete the mission.

I can't understand why you might want that, but it's a normal human reaction to show remorse.

Lol. Sorry - major typo. that first sentence was meant to be

"I CAN understand... "

And to Cobra Hunter:

Neither of the GTA protagonist kills for, well, killing, that´s optional to the player, you can pass the game only killing people you need to kill in missions.

Also, you´re thinking of a silent protagonist? What the f*ck?

That would kill all of the Grand Theft Auto storyline, plus how would we accept missions? Interact with the bosses?

That´s just basically no storyline at all, only killing, killing, killing, killing, raping, killing, killing, killing, and killing for the rest of the game. Is that what you want? It would get boring easily, without fun missions. GTA III sucked because of the inconsistency of how Claude managed to climp up so high in the criminal underworld, he´s just a lapdog.

In short, a silent protagonist would kill. The whole.f*cking.Game.

Seriously.

NEGATIVE!

I said I don't like the character APOLOGIZING and WARNING people when PLAYING the game - when INTERACTING in the game!

This does not mean the character cannot speak in the story line (that YOU find so important - not me).

The character can speak, talk and accept missions in the story video sequences - but when playing the game he should just be silent and let the gamer do the talking.

It's like - for example... You cross the street and a taxi spawns out of nowhere (as they do in GTA4) and you get knocked to the ground. When you get up - YOU - THE 'GAMER' might say; "You f##ker I'm going to kill that taxi man for that..." - but just as you're about to shoot the cab driver in the face - the computer game character stupidily attempts to predicts what you're thinking at that moment and BUTTS IN saying something dumb like "Don't MAKE me kill you." or "You don't want this!" etc.

I want to play the game, shoot the $hit out of someone and say my own catch phrases, like; "What you say about my momma? You feel sorry for who?!... *BANG! BANG! YEAH! BANG! YEAH!*... You ain't gonna talk $hit now are ya?" Then when I take his money... "Hit the jackpot!"

I don't need the computer to think for me - the gamer - I have my own personality and voice too. I don't wanna hear BORAT speaking in a retarded broken english accent that sounds like a delicatessen or some $hit.

And in the video sequences - they should have a voice for your character that sounds like Richard 'The Iceman' Kuklinski. At least he has the voice of a real killing machine.

So, in actuality. A silent protagonist - like in GTA3 - would actually redeme and revive the whole entire franchise.

As for rape... Who said anything about 'rape'? I didn't mention anything about that. Just killing.

If it's that much of a problem why don't you turn the sound down? F*ck some people bitch about the most retarded things in GTA IV.

I know I'm not the only who feels this way, but a silent protagonist wouldn't "redeem", or "revive" the franchise.

GTA is not a serial killer simulator. We're not playing as heartless pieces of scum like Ed Gein, Ted Bundy, or Charles Manson. Yes obviously the game does include alot of killing, but the general theme is spread out through the entire criminal underworld. Not just murder.

Honestly playing as Claude was about as exciting as watching paint dry. I like protagonists with a bit of complexity instead of being spineless robots.

I completely agree with you.

Cobra if you don't like Niko talking well maybe you should

Mute the TV.

Play MP FM and kill peds.

STFU

or play a different game.

Hell if you liked GTA3 so much go play that.

Dude, go outside and take a walk, you sound so pent up.

I really could care less about what the character says, so I don't mind and actually enjoy that Niko says things which you seem so overly-frustrated about. I think it's funny when he nails someone with a car at fifty miles per hour and just tosses back "sorry!"

Adds to his character anyway. He's genuinely good but has a tough time proving it.
