GTA IV Looping sound

Recommended Posts

So i have gta iv with patch 1.0.6.0. when ever i try to play it the loading music still plays when niko appears on the screen in the appartment. Also tire screeching and horns loop and other sound effects go muted. The only fix i have is to restart my computer, but if i exit the game and then start the game again, the problem will occur. I have a few mods installed:

-v1.6 crown vic

i know this has been posted before but i cant find a solution:(

My computer specs:

GIGABYTE GA ma69g s3h

AMD Athlon 64 x2 2.5Ghz 4800+

ATI Radeon HD 5770

G.Skill 4x1gb

Thanks

No, the looping sound issue isn't caused by mods, it has to be connected with the OS as usually a fresh OS install fixes it. You can try updating your audio drivers, but that usually does nothing. Also, try using crapcleaner to clean up the registry a bit.

that didn't work either. the only fix i found is to restart my computer every time i want to play it. what net frameworks do you have installed on your working gta iv? i have 1.1, 2.0 servise pack 2, 3.0 service pack 2, 3.5 sp1, 4 client profile, and 4 extended.

also i have c++ 2005 redistributable, c++ 2008 redistributable- x86 9.0.30411, c++ 2008 redis- x86 9.0.21022, c++ 2008 redistributable- x86 9.0.30729.4148, and c++ 2010 redistributable- x86 10.0.30319

An easy way to fix this issue:

Click start

Click control panel

Click audio devices, or wherever you can get at your speaker settings

Down where it says speaker settings, click advanced

Click performance tab up top

Where it says hardware acceleration, Slide it to the second last notch at the beginning

Now, try to play the game. This fixed the issue for me.
