Barry Spock
I've just really got into the MP racing section (both IV and bogt). And it seems like when you've got 6 or 8 racers making it unscathed through the first corner on some of those tracks is crucial. Do you have a strategy or do you think it's just luck in not getting rolled? Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/458278-racing-the-first-corner/ Share on other sites
Dnero
I always let the other players go ahead of me at the start of the race if it was more than 5 people, I just don't like being pushed and body slammed. After that I'll do my best to get in front of the race. If I'm in the front, I usually go as fast as I can to get away from the other racers. While on the back, I usually wait til the other racers spread out. RED_
You have a big chance of winning the race if you make the first corner when there are a lot of players. Generally i'd try and dive down the inside, this normally works as people are so worried about fighting cars around them that they dont brake hard enough or dont turn enough. While i do that though i ease of the gas so i have better control in case someone hits me. Legacy-666_
If Im placed in the front of the grid I usually try for the hole shot, but if Im stuck in the back I usually try to avoid the carnage of the 1st corner. The trick to winning is a nice clean lap with no crashes. TASO
Try to sign up in race LB topic..there you can find some extra clean events where all racers "try" to drive clean.. Brown Sugar
If Im placed in the front of the grid I usually try for the hole shot, but if Im stuck in the back I usually try to avoid the carnage of the 1st corner. Legacy-666_
I like to use a high view and am constantly looking behind me to see where the other cars are. unfortunitly there are some players who would rather use you as a brake rather than push the brake button on their controller. but if you can get that 1st corner clean then that usually takes care of them for the whole race and if you have clean laps you should have no more troubles. I guess this goes for all driving, I play heaps of freemode and out running a sports cars with an ambulance all because you can take a corner cleanly is very satisfying. Barry Spock
unfortunately there are a lot of people who like to ruin races and simply crash into you and then there's the people who are simply no good at driving so they immediately crash into you Yeah but that's part of the game. I've noticed that even the vetrans occasionally get caught up in the first corner cluster-f*ck. If in the front row I've been taking a fast inside line and if at the back, slowing down a bit and driving around the edge of the pile up. Seems to work -- now I've just got to master the other corners Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/458278-racing-the-first-corner/#findComment-1060110750 Share on other sites
Legacy-666_
which view do you use. Heaps of people use the bumber cam but I like to see whats going on around me so use the highest view. Barry Spock
Yeah, I think I know what you mean - I like the behind the car view, and the 2nd one, that's a bit further back. I'm usually too busy to be pressing R3 to be seeing what's going on behind. Bumper view makes me a bit giddy. And think the Infernus can be a pretty good car for some things, but the behind view is too low on the infernus because of how low the whole car is. I wish there was a way to have it permanently a bit higher. Turbo Lag
If I have a very quick start and manage to get away from everybody, and the first corner has a solid wall that I can slam into, I do slam it and get away from there as fast as possible. I'd usually slow down to the highest speed possible around the corner and graze the wall to guide me along. It's not really a good 'racing' strategy, but hey it's GTA, I have GT5:P for my clean racing. If I'm not at the front, I simply hold back and then hit the apex perfectly and continue along my way. A lot of people suck at racing online and will try to push you, as long as you avoid that, and if you're decently skilfull, you should be fine. Hector Tavares
for TBoGT race mode, there's a trick i like to call the "Rocket Start". at the beginning of the race, when the countdown begins, hold the R1 and X (classic) or R2 (standard) to rev your engine. when the timer says GO! release the R1 button and your car should get a HUGE boost of speed, literally catapulting it into the lead, WAY ahead of the pack. this way you may not have to worry about Fender-Bender tards ramming you going into the 1st corner. i recommend this trick with anything that's 4WD. just try to avoid people in front of you. nothing's worse than trashing your new Ford GT even before the 1st turn. Patchey
I try to maintain speed, but I ease off a bit to fit through the first gap I see. Does anybody else like those close, competitive dirty races as much as I do though? It's so satisfying to edge a guy right into oncoming traffic and fly ahead of him for the win. Barry Spock
for TBoGT race mode, there's a trick i like to call the "Rocket Start". That's interesting. I often notice a few people in every race always get away ahead of me. I always thought it was network lag or something. I'll have to try the rocket start.
