People just need to relax and enjoy the game. God, it's just such a lot of fun, especially when you get people who really try and play along.

I had this guy cornered down a pier and I created a whole line of forklifts to give myself cover, he blew up every one of them but I was still dodging between them until he blasted me. It's fantastic, really top notch fun. Let's not take it too seriously.

I joined a free mode game the other day, i landed to pick up 'Mr Tee Jay Gold' and they decided to blow me out of the sky instead with a rocket launcher, i tried to kick them out, then he tried to kick me when i hadn't done anything wrong, then his friends; xXDANGER 911Xx , RitzerRGB07, DEADMENRUNNING, and someone else all kicked me out, fired rockets at me then eventually i got kicked out :@

 

At one point i was sitting in a blown up car with people firing rockets at me and 3 helicopters flying around me i felt like Liberty City's most wanted

Well, just don't kick. People will turn into assholes when getting votekicked and will haunt you for the rest of the f*cking game. If friends are there, they also kick, just because they are friends. You also shouldn't start kicking because you trusted someone you don't know and got blown up. Just do not f*cking take the game seriously, it's only a game. Come on. If someone wants to kick you, and you happen to have friends in the same game, wouldn't you be the one who returned a votekick? You seem like the person who does those things. Stop whining. it's not the fact that i got blown up that annoyed me, well it did but they didn't just try to kick me and leave it at that, they repeatedly kept kicking me, clogging up the screen with the kicks and blowing me up with rocket launchers, just kick someone and leave it at that, i went to algonquin and hid in an alleyway and they got out of there helicopter and blew me up, i even sat there in my blown up Contender while i was having rockets fired at me, even after that i was being guarded by one of them

did you read the description of freemode? it says "Liberty City is your playground but not all your playmates are friendly." Harrassing people in freemode is one of the oldest traditions of GTA4. If you are not comfortable with this try Katamari online.

People that fly around in buzzards and spam rockets at innocent people = sad excuse of a pilot

"Innocent". Nobody is innocent in free mode. Everyone's a target, and must either fight or defend. If you choose to race up and down the runway, don't get pissed when some chopper plows into your group while 'staging' at one end of the runway, and don't get pissed when a racer turns on the group and fires a rpg right before the race starts. It happens simply because it can.

 

When I get bored, I fly to the top of the hangar with the sniper rifle, and play long range target practice with the runway racers. Nothing like popping a tire on the lead car, and watching him lose control and take out the whole pack.

 

The game is based on blowing things up and shooting people. If you want to 'play nice', get one of those racing games with no damage or play the sims or animal crossing. GTA is not the place for you.

Kicked - happens all the time, some peeps stage a mission and don't want to be disturbed... so *poof* you're gone.

 

helicopter - Hell yeah! I love being chased, especially when I shoot someone out of their beloved annihilator. Cat and mouse is the best part of free mode.

How hard is it to avoid them all together. Someone hides by the annihilators, we just migrate to the dock with the 6 choppers parked. They hide in random parts of the airport, just avoid that area. Don't forget about the chopper on top of the police station by the airport.

 

Just ignore them. They'll get bored and either leave the room or join in on your fun.

Also, guys, do not forget that you can create your own free mode room by getting out your cellphone:

 

Online > Custom Match > Private Slots > Max

 

That way no one can enter in the room you are in and you can invite whatever friends you wish to the exclusion of all other people.

free mode is kinda like a blank canvas, u can create some spectaculare stuff but it seems the majority of players prefer smearing poo on a wall

agreed. if you're not using a mic, kicking the best way to get a pilots attention if you're looking for an air/ground fight. most experienced gta players don't get upset when they have a kick placed on them... there's usually some method to the madness.

Yeah, Swooner's right. on XBL at least, if you want to challenge a pilot to a duel or have an air/ground thing, then doing a 'double kick' is the standard invitation. It saves clumsy amounts of messaging and things.

 

But there is one thing I can't stand and that's if someone kills me while I'm trying to do something like shoot out a pilot. Normally I won't shoot at someone unless they're shooting at a friend of mine. But if someone kills me for no reason while I'm in the middle of shooting out a pilot (which does require a fair bit of concentration) then I will get a little annoyed.

 

This actually happened to me in a game recently. Someone killed me while I was in the middle of shooting someone out. I hadn't done anything to them in the past and they just did it. I let it slide the first time, but as soon as they spawned from being killed, they'd kill anyone they saw regardless of what they were doing. So in what can only be described as game rage, I spawn raped the kid (he literally was a kid) on the ground till he left the game, then followed him through 4 separate games, killing him as soon as I saw him in those. In the end I realised I was getting a little too annoyed so blocked communications, muted, put on a bad review and then hope I never see him in a game again.

 

But sometimes, if a person deserves to be killed for being a phallic symbol in a game, then they will get it. If you don't like someone, then remember it's just a game, don't let the annoyance get the better of you and just find a new free mode if worst comes to worst. It can be annoying when an entire game turns on you, but if they won't leave you alone, sometimes it's best just to leave.

If someone is spam kicking me i point out to them that in order to spam kick you have to unkick me, before you can kick again, so really they are not sure if they want to kick me xD
