Logo for a car blog needed!

I'd like a logo for a blog called "VehiCast". I want it to be written as one word in all caps like VEHICAST, but with the words VEHI and CAST in different colors or gradients. I want it to be 3D block letters (if possible) with colors of Silver, Grey, Black, and possibly red or blue. I'd also like it to have a shiny or chrome tint, if that is possible.

Narcis, I believe you did the 3D with Xara but then how did you apply the gradient? Took it into PS I guess but with what tool did you select the parts that had to be colored?

created the gradient in photoshop and applied it in xara, there is a texture option

Yeah.

 

1. You make a design in PS, or GIMP, with all the colors you want.

save it as .jpg, .png, or whatever.

 

2. Then make a second one, that's an all blacked out version of the 1st one, with a white background.

save it as .bmp

 

3. Trace the blacked out version with Inkscape, save as .emf or .wmf

(To get the shape of the design in xara)

 

4. open the .emf or .wmf in xara and then go to "texture options."

open up the original version and apply it as a texture.

 

Narcis applied the texture only to "text faces" in the options.

 

looks pretty cool.
