Flight Training...

Recommended Posts

We saw in GTA:SA that there was flight training offered. However, one could simply park a car next to the Los Santos Airport, hop the wall, and FLY, no training was necessary.

Now, this is of course different for cars, the protagonist in each game was obviously of age to where it was common knowledge as to how to (despite the other driving schools offered in SA) drive, same for boats and bikes.

In MY opinion, I think we saw a LITTLE bit of this in IV, if even subliminal. Niko, having served in the military, knew how to use weapons, no "training" was necessary for him at all given his past.

What would be neat to be implemented in V is a "heavy", more realistic lockdown on aircraft.

One would have to be taught (a story-related mission early on in the story-line perhaps) as to how to fly. Now don't get me wrong, the controls would be just as simple as we saw in Vice City, San Andreas, and IV, but almost just for humor and realism, a flight instructor would take you through the basic and advanced controls of each aircraft.

Do you really think that CJ REALLY knew how to fly a massive passenger aircraft like the AT-400 in SA? Highly doubtful.

I'm sure K^2 will weigh in here, lol, but I just think that there should more realistism concerning piloting an aircraft.

Well, canonically he did, remember flight school, plus this is GTA Universe, the world where if you know how to fly one type of plane, you know how to fly everything.

Seriously though, I'd like to see flight school come back, but make it optional though, as I know most people didn't like it.

I'm kind of playing politics here, but I'm against flight being forced on the player. Reason for it? Better flight for these of us who want to fly. If everyone was forced to fly, flight complexity cannot be that great. Remember Supply Lines? Remember how many topics there were about how impossible it was? I want more missions like that. And it can't happen if these are forced for everyone.

Other than that, sure, why not have an advanced flight school. Just don't make it part of the main story.

I don't mind them being optional, but I wasn't a fan of the flying school being in SA's storyline. I didn't find it particularly hard, but I can see why some people found it irritating, and the last thing you want to do when playing a video game is feeling angry.

No I'm against that. Ther player should not be forced to learn to take flying lessons in a GTA game, no way. I hated that part in San Andreas where CJ had to go to flight school before being able to fly the planes, it was so annoying. I found it quite hard at first and I was stuck on that part for a good while. SA is my second favourite GTA of all time, but I really hated that part.

Maybe if its included as an option simply for more different activities then I'd have no problem with it. If it's a compulsory requirement to go to flight school before being able to fly a plane, then my answer to that is a big fat NO.

Flight School is a waste of time. I mean its not really FUN. Maybe it kills time but it shouldn't be mandatory at all. I for one don't give a sh*t whether my character would know how to fly a plane or a helicopter, I just want him to do it. If it's a problem then maybe every protagonist should just have a justification for knowing how to fly, like Luis having that 'crash course' pilot certificate on his wall.

Schools in SA were "Advanced Driving schools", as in not basics of driving a car , or piloting a plane. So ofcourse you could've driven one in LS Airport.

Well, there could be flight training IF you want it,but it should be hard to break into the air field and steal an airplane, because aircraft does not have keys. And some aircraft may not be able to steal due to: broke down,no fuel, etc.

And when you enter the airport and you dont have a pilots license, you should no tbe automaticly wanted until you get caught. Maybe you can find or steal a pilots uniform and get away with it.

Also the airfield should have interior, with aircraft at gates, where you can enter/exit an aircraft at a gate.

That would also make it harder to steal aircraft (especially large ones.) because a learjet can have stairs that you can walk up and try to open a door.

And a larger jet should be able to be stolen from the gate, but its a high risk you'll be getting caught.

ALSO: You should be able to enter the airport and press a button at an office to go on duty, then you so to an assigned gate, load passengers while fueling, and fly them to the destination,Wind, rain, etc should also effect the aircraft during flight.

I agree. It kind of defeats the purpose of having a flying school if aircraft can be accessed so easily before unlocking the flying school.

Personally I think stealing any aircraft before obtaining the flying school should result in an instant wanted level. Or when you complete the flying school you unlock a pilot's uniform, and that's the only way you can get passed security at the airport gates. Not having the correct uniform will result in a refusal of entry.
