Having trouble with the Sharks on East Island

I took over the businesses on the West Island easily enough, but East Island is proving to be a major pain in the ass.

 

Actually attacking and taking over businesses is challenging but not frustrating.

 

But it's the instant-death Gang Ranchers and constant attacks that are really grinding my gears.

 

I usually have to reload saves multiple times because as soon as I step out of my save point, my businesses are getting attacked.

 

Then I have these Shark death squads with AK-47s firing out of their SUVs. I die in milliseconds. This is ridiculous.

 

So basically it boils down to luck? Just reload saves until you're given enough time to get new body armor and make it to the next business site before your sites get taken over or you insta-die to a Gang Rancher?

 

That's not good game design at all.

 

I love GTA games so much - I've played all of them. Vice City Stories was the last one I had to play, and now that I'm playing it, I've actually had three or four moments where I felt like quitting the game for good. I never felt like that with any other GTA, not even San Andreas while doing Supply Lines.

 

Supply Lines was really hard, but it was genuine difficulty. There is nothing difficult about playing the Shark Death Squad lottery. It's all just luck. That really bothers me.

I kinda like the Shark death squads, - unlike the SA gangs, they're not just a nuisance.

They're miserable drivers, so a little clever maneuvering can shake them off. Or you can just travel by helicopter (they might swim, but they sure as hell can't fly )

 

Another option is to find a good (slightly elevated) spot and work on your "Gang members wasted" stat

 

As for the continues attacks on your sites, you just have to live with that some attacks goes unanswered. They'll need at least 2 undefended attacks on one site before they can take it from you. There's also a glitch/timing issue which makes it nearly impossible to get a 100% defense stat.

Happen to me too, I eventually got tired of being attacked and went on a rampage against their assets.

Just try to destroy all of their bussines's without defending your own sites, then after youve done that just repair them.

All you have to do to avoid the attacks, is after each territory you take over, go save and reload(reloading is important after you make the save), and then the attacks will have stopped. This method works great and allows you to take all the territories rather quickly. Just a heads up.
