Dead reckoning mission problem

Actually in the mission "Dead reckoning", after getting instructions from Salvatore to go to Paul, the game always crashes when I'm on the way. It came to my knowledge that since Paul has to eventually be killed, is it wise to use the "Destroy all vehicles" cheat without actually travelling all the way to see him or is it necessary to go and talk to him?

 

Any other suggestions for games crashing in a specific scene/mission etc.?

Game freezing/crashing can be caused by a Scratched and/or dirty disc, or the PS2/PSP lens could be wearing out, making the game take longer to load.? Is this the PS2 or PSP version?

Are you using the Original(big) model or the Slim model?

 

Have you tried cleaning the disc and checking for any scratches or smudges? Have you tried a new disc? Does the PS2 lens have dirt or dust on it?-this is easy to check on the slim model, as the disc tray opens upward, which lets you see the lens. If the disc is scratched, try getting a new disc and see if that fixes the problem.

 

Another cause of game crashes on the PS2, can be if too many/certain cheats are active-I had SA for PS2 crash a few times as a result of certain Gameshark codes being active, but once I reset the PS2 and played without the cheat device, the game played fine. So, are you using Cheats and/or cheat devices?

I figured out the problem. It was in the road which led to Paul's boat. The game crashed everytime I used a vehicle on that road. I tried using a different route and the game didn't crash. But why does the game crash on that particular road? I tried using it after the mission and it still crashes unless I'm on foot.
