Play without committing crime

Anyone ever tried to play without increasing the crime stats? You think this is impossible? It's not, but it's really hard...

So far it looks promising. Ok, you can't avoid getting stars, because some missions just increases your stars, no matter what you're doing. But you can still keep it low.

And you can't avoid stealing some bikes, because Angus jobs increases your crime stats by one each time. Also stealing with Jim (Liberty City Choppers) increases it by 4.

At the moment I'm at 42.88% and my crimes stats is all 0 except of "bikes stolen" (14), stars and cop chase time; especially 0 kills, 0 people run down and 0 fires started. Also 0 stolen cars, boats and helicopters.

I try to complete this game without becoming a murder. Ok, maybe the last mission (Get Lost) may be impossible to complete, but I will find out. smile.gif

That´s interesting.

I thought this same thing right after first run of Vanilla. Trying to finish as ethically as possible.

Even without trying, though im a bit ashamed, i haven't stolen a single vehicle in TLaD before finishing story mode (aside from those bikes in a mission). I ALWAYS used my Hexer, everywhere.

Also whats funny, before finishing storyline i only visited Pay N Spray ONCE. lol.gif

Yes, I tried this with Niko, too. But I havn't found a way to solve Concrete Jungle - these three guys are "immutable", they can't be killed by others, e.g. police. And more worse, they split and run into different directions.

With Johnny it's much easier, but still challenging. smile.gif

I once saw a webpage where some guy had done this with vanilla gta. It looked like a .txt file. Appaerently one of the hardest things is keeping the peds run down to 0 because the game counts it as a run down even if you touch them with the front bumper.

wow, who sets out to play GTA without commiting crime?

It's a game based on crime. lol.gif

But I do applaud whoever can do a feat such as this. It would be hard, not to mention very aggravating always loading once you die or bump into someone... or some sh*t like that.

In GTA IV is easier, because there's a lot of public transportation alien.gif

Not really, because if the taxi driver hits a citizen it counts as an overrun in your stats. sad.gif

You are pretty far already. How did you do that? I never tought iw would me possible.

There are lots of ways to complete the missions:

let your mates kill the enemy

call the police

pursuit them until they crash and the car explodes

push them from stairs / ladders

shoot on explosive barrels

let them overrun by others

...

Without committing a single crime? Or just by killing only as few as possible?

You can wait until it's night, than there are less peds around.

If I remember right, there's about thirteen you _have_ to kill to complete the missions.

Also in the fire fights what you can is shoot dudes until they're staggering around and weaponless - I don't think that counts as a kill.

Ah, should've just checked bookmarks.. - here it is

The point is, there isn't much a difference between killing one or more persons - you become a murder by doing it.

That's why I usually stop my "less crime" run at the point where I can't find a way to continue without killing.

And thanks for the link. But this dude become a murder at Concrete Jungle where I stopped. wink.gif

This is to boring for me.

my method is...

Take out your gun.

Kill your enemies.

Destroy their cars

End everything with a 6star chase.

i just don't see the point.

The point is, that this game is far too easy. It's no challenge to take out the gun, shot everbody into the head and finish the game short after.

But playing GTA (which is obviously designed to kill people) without killing or even committing crime than you have to be creative.

For people using cheats to proceed this non violent gameplay is nothing to have fun with. For others it may be an option.

Not true. Its not creativity or a challenge if you chase your oppoment and his car explodes by accident. or if you do your buddies do the work. More challenging and creative is when you do it all by yourself. Using doffrent weapons, Getting the right cover. Shooting with blindfire... Its far more fun and challenging.

yeah I don't see it as a challenge I see it as purposely breaking the game because your bored lol.

Maybe its just not for me but the game is challenging enough (what are you god?) I look at people who say this or this or this game is too easy and think dayum I wish I could be this good.

I found the game plenty hard and can't even contemplate denying myself what is essential to the game being fun just to make the game even harder.

It seriously takes me 20 tries to do the final mission don't tell me thats a walk in the park to you tounge2.gif cause then I'd question your humanity.

I can't play the entire game without killing anyone. That's a bit stupid, this game is all about crime and killing other people or being killed. smile.gif

I do try to be realistic though, for example when I'm driving I don't go over the sidewalks killing all peds my front bumper finds. It's different in missions, if anyone wants to kill me, I will kill them first. Niko is a criminal after all, and you can see that on many cut-scenes. However, he doesn't kill just for fun, he kills because he has to.

So I try to be realistic. Kill as few as possible outside missions, don't harm civilians, just kill or harm those who want to do the same to me. It makes the game very interesting in my opinion. Of course that once in a while I forget these rules and all hell breaks loose. tounge.gif

I only did this after beating the game for the first time, the first run was full of crimes.

Exacly. When I play as Niko I really want to fit into his role. I dont hurt everybody cause its fun. If a pedestrian says sxxthead to me I only start to fight. Sometimes I use my gun to finish him If he had a too big mouth.

screw that being realistic... I shoot and kill whoever I damn well please whenever I damn well feel like. I'll sometimes go out of my way to drive on the sidewalk and run over as many people as possible... that blood is a new paint job for me lol.gif

You wouldn't say so if you ever tried it. You can't sit around and wait until your buddies finishes the job. No chance, they all die.

I finished the game pretty fast playing it the way it was designed. Even the last mission, I made it on the first try.

You don't have to play without killing. It's just an option if you need something challenging or different. Anyway, play as you like, I don't tell you how you have to play. smile.gif

BTW: I can't play the entire game without killing, too. I'm stuck at 57.27%. I can't avoid to steal 14 bikes, because it's part of the mission (see first posting). And I can't avoid getting stars. I personally find to avoid stars more annoying than people run down. Because I can control to hit a pedestrian but I've less influence if there are cops around.

My average speed is 64.5 mph (favorite bike Hexer) and I didn't hit much peds.

I like trying minimal-crime runs on all the GTA IV games. Helps my conscience. XD

Yeah, ain't tried TLAD yet, but TBOGT is a bitch. Leg shots kill a lot more than in IV.

are you sure its 64?

confused.gif I can't even reach higher than 41.xx average speed in MPH....

Unless there is a way to do this like only drive on highways?

EDIT: Well the last mission in GTA 4 isn't hard, unless you start it without body armor/without a lot of ammo/without certain weapons and rush in rambo style.

Guys, this makes no sense. GTA is all about stealing cars, cop pursuits, killing bad guys and sometimes, do collateral damage, because it's unpredictable, like a fat guy ordering desert when everyone else wants to leave, lol.

We just discovered a translation bug. Change to any other language than English and you'll get a km/h value but it still says mph.

So the correct average speed is 64 km/h and 39 mp/h respectively. A pretty slow value in contrast to those high speed driving. But missions with Billy or activities with buddies are always slow driving to be able to speak with them. And in races I used to wait on the second one to knock them off their bike. devil.gif

Anyone knows how to disarm someone with a pistol on purpose without killing him?

Sometimes it works with a shutgun or rifle by shoting on the hand. But that's more random than on purpose. They usually die before they drop the gun.

And did anybody ever disarmed someone with a firearm by using a counter attack? Is that possible?

That's so non sense. You cannot finish the game without shooting anyone. What about the mission with the drug mule at the airport? I wasted as many cops possible to get out alive and drove Martha in a wasted car back at her place. What about last mission? HUH? Use a water pistol? Call the police to shoot the cops?

You'll encounter lots of cops earlier in "Bad Cop Drop". First I didn't expected to come further without killing but I've found a way. That's the challenge.

I've reached 57.27% without killing. I'll try later to continue, now it's BoGT time. wink.gif
