If its in europe gta 5 better be kick ass, cause about 60% of all of us want gta 5 to be in america, but alot of other people who want gta london, so if is in europe or any-other place i hope its better than gta 4, gta sa, and gta vc, cause i really dont want gta london

And what the f*ck is wrong with Europe? I think I'm the only American who doesn't think that people in Europe ride horses and double decker buses as transportation, drink tea, eat spaghetti and wear perfume all the time.

im not against London, but imo its not time for that yet. In my perfect GTA London, the game is set during 2012 olympics and your an athelete who does anything to try and win the gold. that includes taking steroids, taking out opposition, bribing/blackmailing judges. that sorta stuff. if anything itd make for a kick ass dlc.

hell i might go back a concept...

You know, Americans who have never been to Europe and quickly judges that GTA should never be in Europe shows nothing but ignorance to the world. I'm not saying that the next GTA has to be in Europe, but Americans must face it and can't hide the fact that they think USA is the only modernized country in the world. Many people here down in the South think that BMW is an American company, and that France never won a war. Everyone here says "British accent" and it pisses me off, because the Scottish accent sounds nothing close to the English accent. It's a shame because 40% of Americans here in north Houston have Scottish ancestry.

I don't really see any reason why a GTA set in London, or any other European city for that matter can't be as good if not better than one set in American city.

Many great british crime films have been set in London over the years. One of my favourites being "The Bank Job", with Jason Statham.

It would be a breath of fresh air, but in saying that there are alot of American cities that have potential too. Like Chicago, Boston, Detroit, New Orleans, Seattle, St Louis, Kansas City, Atlanta, Dallas, San Diego etc.

I'm not realy fussed where it's set. Aslong as it retains the quality, and attention to detail R* are known for.

Exactly. Most of Europe is culturally very different from America, which GTA is based on.

@Theblackproject, If we don't live in Britain, how the hell are we supposed to know if they have different accents? IMO, they do all sound the same, but I've never been to Britain, and certainly don't live there, so I don't know. I'm sure many european people think all American accents are the same, which is far from true, but how can you blame them? They don't live here.

And you obviously weren't born in America, otherwise you would learn to accept America's ignorance.

Hahahaha, I love this guy ♥

1) What kind of dumbass believes BMW is an American company?

2) Of course the French have won wars! Does Napoleon Bonaparte ring any bells?

3) I've heard a 100% Scottish accent before first hand, our communication was so bad he gave up with words and immitated a lawnmower. Wanna know British accents? Ignore the James Bond films >_>

While I cannot say they will never have GTA in Europe (anyone recall GTA: London, 1969 and GTA: London, 1961?), the chances of it are very slim because as people have pointed out, Grand Theft Auto is a mockery of the American culture.

When you listen to the radio stations in GTA, you hear them talk about pharmaceutical companies profiting and people not having insurance to afford medical care, or political ads that slander one for being liberal or conservative (or even being corrupt) and just the general gluttony and greed that people perceive about the United States, hence the mockery.

It wouldn't have the same effect if it was set in Europe, because the mockery wouldn't be as "intelligent" (for lack of a better word). I mean, honestly, if they made a GTA in Europe now, the idea of mockery would probably have everyone wear a beret, drive on the left side of the road and have the people be rude to you.

You know these kinda topics really piss me off, for starters it doesn't matter where it is set Rockstar will do it justice. It's a virtual world loosely based on an real area. Secondly I think it is high time it moved away from America and is set somewhere else, somewhere different for a change rather then repeat the same trio of areas which quite frankly will get boring very quickly.

I'm trying to figure out why people believe the GTA writers, who are masters of sarcasm, couldn't be self deprecating if push came to shove and they decided on a European setting.

That whole "the humor wouldn't be the same" argument is stuff people say to sound smart.

anyway, i know i had a thread like this before, but what i think now is: that r* are gonna make the game set where ever they wan't and it will be bought and played no matter where it's set, so these threads are a moot point!!!!!

And what the f*ck is wrong with Europe?

...it´s too peaceful, mate. tounge.gif

Only in the U.S. you have that variety of different ethnical (crime) groups altogether in one place.

You COULD do it in Europe, but it would feel somehow artificial and out of place.

Actually, no, it's amazing how many people in Europe can tell which part of America from an accent, there is no "American" accent outside of TV Acting, people usually narrow it down like "Oh yeah, that's a New York Accent", "That's a Texan accent", etc. We Europeans are quite smart like that. wink.gif

I don't give a sh*t where the game is located, as long as it's an awesome game.

Too much home country "pride" going on here.

Er are you living under a Rock? We've got multiple ethical crime groups over here. Where do you think your precious mafia came from? Why the hell would it feel artificial?

I have a simple question for all of these hardcore "GTA should be in America" people.

Would you rather have a kick ass game in Europe, or a poorly made mediocre at best game in America?

You can bet your bottom dollar I'd choose the kick ass game in Europe. (And look at my profile flag, ladies and gents).

Location isn't everything, ya know.

I doubt that would happen, but I wouldn't mind if a mission, or two took place in another country. Similar to going to Saint Marks Bistro in SA.

Lets say the game takes place in Vice City for example you fly to London for a drug deal, or something.

I trust Rockstar to produce a stunning GTA no matter where or when it's set.

I can see the arguments for both a U.S. based GTA and a landmark location elsewhere in the world. (Though perhaps not Burnley as one person suggested colgate.gif ).

The fact of the matter is that London would work; Paris would work; Tokyo or Hong Kong could work. But then so would a return to Vice City; so would a return to Los Santos or San Fiero.

So long as it's somewhere that people can identify with and that has a distinctive character and atmosphere, we're good to go.

I'm just stating an example, not what I think would actually happen.

Rockstar will put out a quality product, regardless of setting.

Brazil would be an interesting option, if you ask me.
