How many more GTAs will we have?

Just wandering how many more GTAs we will have. I think 5-10, because there are several more ideas left, and GTA is the most popular game of all time, so it will go on for long time.

Probably about 4 - 5 full GTA games, plus a lot of downloadable content and things. The reason behind this is the time it takes to create a new GTA game. In this speed 5 new GTA games will probably take about 15 - 20 years. I'm not saying that I'm annoyed by this, I think it's important that they don't release half finished games.

When GTA eventually does come to an end, wouldnt it be super badass if Rockstar remade all the GTAs with graphics from future game stations?

For me, it's not necessarily about how many GTA's we may see in our gaming lifetime(s)... it's more about how long the core nucleus of the team from GTA III to IV stick around, so for me a crude generalization of the formula for a Grand Theft Auto in it's simplest form would be;

 

GTA = Sam Houser + The Benz + Dan Houser + Lazlow.

 

When you start subtracting any of these guys away, GTA might start to be more of a parody of itself then of the world it's attempting to parody.

I agree those guys are all vital to the entire GTA series without them things would probably start to go south.

As long as its a) profitable and b) R* come up with good characters, storylines, missions, weapons, locations, missions, vehicles etc then there is no reason why they would stop making them

Think how many cities in the North America, the British isles, Australasia, maybe even South Africa, India and Singapore etc would make for a good GTA location alone. They're not going to pack it in after only having used a small number of settings

Every IV era protagonist has a conviction for grand theft auto on the LCPD database, and there are several others who also have commited the same crime, all with interesting histories and who are from all sorts of places including Glasgow

Grand Theft Auto franchise will go forever until Rockstar Games closes its doors . If the scientific fiction movies will turn out to be true in the future , we would probably be able to play games in virtual worlds without any need for a TV or a console . Briefly , the futuristic technology will determine if the current franchises will continue or not , let alone that at that time , there may won't be the so-called franchises , instead all the companies will cooperate together under one name to create games with different genres in virtual worlds that we can discover by ourselves rather than controllable characters .

Until the sales of the Grand Theft Auto series plummet and is no longer profitable for R*, the franchise will continue to live on.

 

In all seriousness, if GTA V were to be a total flop, then that would likely spell the end of the franchise, however, I don't see that really happening.

 

I would like to see it continue for a while. The game is still quite popular (hell, even IV is still selling well and it's been out for over two years now).

Agreed. I hope R* don't give in to all the complaints about GTA IV not having features that were around 6+ years ago, and provide us with new, and exciting features for GTA Next/V.
