The Refinery

OK, this has been driving me nuts.

 

The refinery has a main entrance at the South end.

 

However, from watching other people on the radar in multiplayer it appears definitely possible to get over the wall around the North East corner from the inside - but I haven't had a line of sight to see how it is actually done. It's easily do-able if you can park a vehicle next to it and jump on that first, but I know the guys who pulled this trick didn't have one.

 

Does anyone know how to do this?

Do you mean this wall?

It's hard to tell without having the game loaded, but on the picture above, you can drive a car up that hill at high speed and easily clear that wall right there.

Yes - I can get in from the outside easy enough. Also the same place in the photo above, execpt that's a different side I think to the one I am reffering to.

 

From the inside you definitely don't seem to be able to jump high enough in single player. I can't remember the last time I tried in MP, can you jump higher than with Niko?

No I don't think you can jump higher in mp although sometimes it looks like

an invisible hand is lifting your character a bit to reach the top of a wall.

 

Anyway, I posted the picture to make sure we're talking about the same

wall because from the inside you have to climb a small building and then

jump over it.

To get over the wall you run along the chainlink fence then jump. The little curb against the fence gives you the extra height needed to reach the top of the wall.

judging by the map I don't think that's the refinery he is taking about. the one he's talking about is close to where you begin NOOSE.

I don't know, King, the directions match up. The one in the picture does have a main entrance at the South end and he is getting over the wall on the North-East corner...

I should've known about this back when I was still playing cops 'n crooks...

I didn't actually realise you can even stand on the curb next to the fence - I didn't think it was wide enough, so I never tried this, and would probably never have figured it out. I feel slightly better now that BoozeT says he didn't know about it either!

I mostly play CnC, and that is pretty much the standard exit for that spawn.

I used to always run straight to the south because getting trapped in there is not a situation you want to find yourself in. It just never occured to me to go to freemode and leisurely look for another way out...

It definitely is possible. In CnC it is a good way out, except it takes some time, and you end up in the middle of the road. If there are cops nearby you're dead in 5 secs.

Lol, any body that plays CnC a lot knows this trick, its a horrible place to spawn I think especially if you have noobs on your team who don't know the way out

This is true.

 

However, if the Cops have spawned close enough you are in a lot of trouble either way because they can just as easily beat you to the main entrance at the south end of the refinery.

 

Its good to have the option though - and potentially send one of the minions over to get a car round to the front a bit quicker.

 

I still wonder how people found out about this in the first place - the curb's very subbtle, it didn't look to me like you could stand on it next to the fence. I also wonder whether this was accidental by R* or whether they deliberately put it there so you could get out that way.

Just wanted to call back in and say thanks to the people who taught me the trick of how to climb out of the back of the refinery.

 

In this match it properly saves my bacon!

this reminded me of a game i was in, It was 1 vs 3, I was a cop, against 3 crooks, working as a team they decided that the boss should climb a top of a tower within this refinery, whilst another would stay with him and another would get a chopper, anyways guess boss thought I'd be stupid to try climbing up the ladder to him , so I just stayed near the spawn point, looked at map to see what the other player was doing and thought wtf?

 

so i waited there, killed the other crook next to the boss, but couldnt kill boss, bullets wouldn't penetrate through the railing at the top. The helicopter crook came to pick him up, but couldnt land on the tower because it was too small, needless to say after a few attempts all i see is the boss falling out of the sky after trying to jump in the chopper, i thought it was a good try,

Getting out asap from this location is always the best option imo - although I've picked a Boss up from here with a Chopper once before. I prefer to use the escape over the wall though only if Cops reach the front gate in numbers straight away. There's a danger if you climb over the wall at the start a cop car could be on you quickly and you'll have nothing but a pistol.

I noticed in your video there appears to be two weapons swawns inside the refinery? On ps3 there's only one and it tends to be exactly where you spawn, most of the time a crook accidentally gets it. I think of all the places to start with noobs on your team, this is the worse, they always seem to run around in a circle trying to find the escape route.

 

so many times jumping over the wall has led to instant death , civilian cars are a pain for this

I think it depends on if you have pickups set to "regular" or "many" as to wether you get one or two inside the refinery itself. We always play "many" to give the boss a fighting chance if the cops spawn close - so I could be wrong.

im not sure myself, i'm presuming there's another raised platform near to the main exit/entrance.

 

consoles dont have the option to control weapon spawns, as in many - regular, its a pity because i've always thought the boss ought to come better equipped.

You can get over the wall by using the pipes that are on your left @ the 50 second mark of you vid.
