Pancho the great
Hey guys. SO I have a problem. I currently have 4 hdmi devices (xbox, ps3, pc, HD tv box) but I only have 2 hdmi slots in my tv. Ive looked on ebay and seen you can buy splitters. But as far as I can tell you can have multiple tvs coming from say 1 xbox, not multiple devices into 1 tv. Does anyone know of a device that will allow me to use all 4 at once without having to swap wires around? Thanks
Booze
You're looking for an HDMI switch, which basically does the opposite thing a splitter does: it routes several signals to one. Of course it can only output one at a time, so that's where the name comes from (you switch between signals).

Booze
No problem at all Edit: One little thing: hdcp (copyright protection) may or may not be a problem. If the one you're buying doesn't support it then I think you can only connect devices to it that don't use it. I know the Xbox doesn't use it and I don't think the PC uses it, so you should be able to hook those up to the switch. The PS3 however does use it, but you could connect it to the other hdmi port on your TV. So that leaves the HDTV box, of which I'm not sure if it uses it. Worst comes to worst (you bought a switch that doesn't support it and the HDTV box uses it) you could always buy a second switch that does support it, I don't think they're that expensive anyway. Anyone feel free to correct me on this... Edited August 16, 2010 by Booze T
