I popped GTA III in my PS2 earlier today for the first time in a long while and surprisingly played it for quite a long time (2 hours almost). It really was actually the most fun I'd had playing any GTA game since 2002. The atmosphere, the city, the raw, ruthless freedom to commit as much chaos as you want.

After this I thought there wasn't many forum topics around these days that are actually for people just to rant about the best experiences they've had playing this game, so here it is. Post whatever you like, the most violent killing spree you've been on, the funniest thing you've done, or just the great feeling you got the first time you played GTAIII (especially back when it was first released). Here is one of mine I can recall.

Just walking around the Red Light District the very first time I played the game (I was 7) and soaking in the atmosphere. The steamy pot holes on the roads, the leaves blowing around, a dark/pre-storm sky during the early hours of the evening, while touching shoulders with pimps, hoodlums and hookers. I myself felt like I was somewhere very unsafe, and at that point I knew that I wouldn't be putting this game down any time soon.

I remember when I was 11 and I picked up GTA III and I did the misty mission and I brought her to the woods, killed her then tea bagged her, good times.

Nice falsetto story there, chump, you can't even duck in GTA III (nor are there any woods; and her body will just disappear upon killing her; this story doesn't add up at-all).

I remember when I didn't knew Liberty City at all and every time I took a ride in a car I always found something new and mysterious.

I was very scared to go to Portland, because of the mafia walking around in St Marks. Good old times...

I used to only have staunton and portland unlocked, I remember one day I loaded up the game and due to a glitch the bridge was lowered, the pure joy I felt as I drove across the bridge, the airport hit me at first, and then when I discovered the dodo I was in awe, I had played the game for about a year and hadn't even seen this island. Ahh memories, actually I think I'm inspired to play this now tounge.gif

Games took forever to beat for me back then because I only had a few hours every week to play them, so gta3 lasted months for me. Me and my brother used the same save file, he was the one doing the missions really while I just played it to f*ck around and crash cars. It wasn't ages until we finally got to the third island. Those were the days, all the kids in school saying chatterbox quotes and sh*t about pogo the monkey. It wasnt until Vice City that GTA really became hugely popular.

The jokes, the story and just playing a masterpiece.. now i beat it 100% and me and Claude have tons of stories from our 100% Adventure biggrin.gif

You fail badly, I stop on her head then moved the joystick a little bit, making him jog forward a bit, which would be hilarious as an 11 year old, and it stays for a little bit, so just shut up before you say something incredibly retarded, "chump".

I remember back in 2002 on my cousins PC, we were playing GTA3, but he had a sh*tty PC, so we used to play with the top down view...

Later, I randomly got the game and I realised that it was the game I used to play with my cousin. Thanks cousin you made me discover GTA! tounge.gif

I actually remember discovering the Dodo. I couldn't get to Shoreside Vale and I was so pissed, so I took the subway, the last train, and I realised that when you exited that train, you spawned above the station (Under the ground), so I jumped in the Blue Hell and respawned near the Airport! I went to the runways and I saw a Dodo in a hangar, I thought you could easily fly it, then WTF, it can't fly!

That's how I went to Shoreside Vale before unlocking it. I used to save my game at the SV safehouse.

I'd give anything to go back and play GTA III again for the first time!

The first time i actually played it, it was a fake version for the ps2 and would only work for like 5mins and then crash!

I played GTA III to death back then, best gaming hours ever! Portland kept me entertained for hours! icon14.gif

Excuse if I'm wrong, but that's called 'running on someone's face', not 'tea-bagging'.

As long as his nuts are under her face then an 11 year old is potty humor satisfied.

I just live this game since beginning (2001) - in my country it was 2002, but I had pirate version back then - next I bought even 2 copies + trilogy. I was 7 when my best friend bring me this "backup". I was so crazy for this game. I remember i ended it maaaaany times to 100%. I just love this game and i feel that I will show this game to my kids in the next future and I will tell them that this was their dad's favourite game - even with GTA i haven't so much fun since it's premiere (no big hype, cause' Rockstar wasn't giving much movies from beta - so people haven't so much "hype" about this game.

Exactly, Back when I was in school , I had homec class and we were sewing some patches to T shirts, my friend beat me to it and said ..

"My Friend Joey Sewed his Hands together!" I replied "Wow, you're learning some real skills. How about the salary, and benefits?

laughed so hard and got in trouble, after detention we went home and played the F outa that game

I used to play the game, park a car in a alley and listen to the radio while I did Homework.

I'm glad to hear that people feel the same way I did back when it was new. I (like OnePiece) used to share a save with my brother (who was 13 at the time), then I bought my own memory card and started myself from the beginning. Me and my brother raced to finish the game, and we ended up finishing it the same night.. me at home and him at our neighbours house.

@dingleman: if you've only just started the game, how come you've got $8million?

I just took that picture then on a complete game. I just took it to replicate the atmosphere I was trying to describe.

My best gta iii memory was getting 6 stars in 47.18 seconds. Also 2 hours isn't a really long time. When I first got IV for my PS3 I played for like 14 hours straight!

GTA III Era games changed me. I'm an RPG Platformer gamer. Playing pokemon and Mario and animal crossing. the only GTA like game i ever played was True crime ( a game that collects dust in 2 rooms now. i have GC and PS2 versions) I was interested in GTA cause i thought it was like True Crime, glad it wasn't.the atmosphere was so great, it was like a dirty hidden side of new york or something. after a few days, all i wanted to do was kill. i killed so many people i bet the triads would have hated me before the Toni missions. after trying the missions, the game became 10 times better. the Leone missions and the beeper thing and the trap and finally getting to Stanton. i was so amazed and confused about Stanton and killing Salvatore. I'm now a die hard gta fan because of those experiences.

Algonquin Assassin

The earliest memory of GTA III was in 2002. I remember that day. I was in high school at the time, and I was extremely excited about getting it.

When I came home I immediately tore off the plastic from the game cover (PS2), and threw it straight in.

From the opening sequence I was just stunned. After I went to the safehouse with 8 Ball I remember going back to Callahan bridge with the baseball bat, and beating peds senseless.

I still have my original copy of GTA III, and play it from to time time. Not as good a VC, but none the less a classic. icon14.gif

GTA III was the first GTA game I played. In summer 2002 when I was 9, we bought a Playstation 2 with many games. GTA III was one of them, and it was of course the most funny game too. When I first played this game, I had never seen anything like this, because I had played much SNES, Mega Drive and Playstation 1 before. The Playstation 2 graphics were MUCH better.

Around 2002-2003, GTA III was my favourite game, and I also played the game with my brother and a friend. They also thought the game was awesome. In the beginning, the most funny thing was too shoot and play with the police, but I enjoyed the Missions too.

Since then, I have bought most of the GTA games, and today I rank this game as the third best game ever, only behind GTA San Andreas and Pokémon Gold.

Today, I play the game occasionally when I happen to have a PS2 in my living room.

I have never heard of GTA 3 at the time, back then I was so crazy about vice city and how it was the biggest thing that ever happened in our lives (we were kids), when I finaly got VC I was so overjoyed and I played it for months, I played it so hard that it literally melted on my Driver, so I went to the store to get another one, I asked that dumb a$$ storekeeper for GTA who is reading her magazine and didn't even make eye contact on me, she pulled out the two disc video game where it says GTA 3, I didn't mind the title cause I thought it was the same thing, when I got home I was so dissapointed when I installed it, I hated the graphics, you can't duck, can't buy property, can't knock-out stores,no motorcycles, no Choppers, the prostitutes are ugly, you can't fly the stupid dodo without pissing yourself off and for some reason the wings are cut off, the weather looks pretty miserable, the lead character is mute, no side missions likehotring or dirt ring, the last mission was just hard and boring but I just finish easily, when you drive there is always some @-hole who wants to ruin you perfectly mint car, after I finished the game; I told myself that is one of the Greatest experience of my childhood, now its my most fave GTA of all gta's
