Car Geneology (Comparison, Competition)

Here is the information i can give to you about what cars you drive in GTA IV, and how they compare with the rest of the cars in that section, since i am a wizz at cars:

SuperCars

Turismo= 2003 Ferrari 360 Modena: This car has some fast acceleration, but the top speed isn't as good as the actual Ferrari entails. If you want to get a good head start or make that photo finish, this is the car for you.

Infernus= 2005 Lamborghini Gallardo or Muircelago: This car has the fastest acceleration of all the supercars, but because of this, it's handling does give the car it's drawbacks. But, if you like to get out of the traffic jams that racers develop, this is one awesome getaway vehicle.

SuperGT= 2006 Aston Martin Virage: This is the 'worst' car to choose from the list of supercars, although it is the car with the best handling, but it only has that because of it's consistently slow top speed and acceleration. If you so happen to race with people who can't make that correct turn any time, you can easily defeat them with this vehicle.

Comet= 2005 Porsche 911 Carrera GT: I was surprised to find that a porsche like this was actually the best car in the SuperCars section. The Top Speed is the highest out of all the four, the Handling is pretty decent, and the Acceleration also has some gratifying levels. This is my car of choice whenever the opportunity arises, so get yourself a COMET!

Sports Cars

Banshee= 2004 Dodge Viper: This Car has the fastest top speed, and is only third towards the Coquette and the Sultan RS. Despite the monstrous torque that the car has, the Banshee is probably the best vehicle for blowing away your opponents with dust. hell, it's mine!

Coquette= 2004 Chevy Corvette C6: This Car is only second towards the Sultan RS' Acceleration, and has a very smooth torque when driving. But, the Top Speed is quite low that people will be cursing under their breaths when someone suddenly jabs ahead of them, but it is a good car nonetheless.

Sultan RS= 1999 Toyota Altezza: This Car has one of the maddest Accelerations that any car in GTA IV has. In fact, it could probably even top out the Infernus' Acceleration if not for the Infernus' unaminous speed. Honestly, both the Sultan and the Banshee are good choices for racing, it's just that one has Top Speed and the other has Acceleration.

Feltzer= 2006 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class: This car is outwittingly the worst choice when paired with the rest of the Sports Cars. Only the people who have played the game for the first time believe that this Mercedes-Benz actually has the potential, but, it does not.

Muscle

Sabre GT= 1977 Oldsmobile 442: Obviously, everyone knows this is the car of choice for any race in the Muscle Class. We've known it from vice city, we've known it from san andreas, and we still know it now. So, no exceptions!

Dukes= 1968 Dodge Charger: I really don't like how bad the handling and the acceleration this car has. I would very well not suggest it to anyone who is reading this topic right now. Also, the body is so long that it can grow attached to it's environment like a magnet.

Vigero= 1979 Dodge Challenger (Some argue it's a Camaro, but the rear and front fenders and the rectangular hatchback look quite like a Challenger): Although this car seems very compact and torque heavy, this is actually a decent vehicle to plow through the racers with. Being so much shorter than most of the cars, and with a competitive acceleration, Vigero's are sometimes the way to go.

Stallion= 1978 Chevy Chevelle SS: This is also another pick of the litter. Like the dukes, it has bad acceleration and handling but unlike it, it is not quite as long to hit every pole, sidewalk or niche in your way.

2 Door

Blista Compact= 1986 Honda CRX: I was hoping this would be the best vehicle for all 2 door cars, since it had a starkingly high acceleration and top speed back in vice city, but unfortunately, no. But, unless you like holding the silver medal, this is only the second best car for you.

Ruiner= 1986 Chevy Camaro: This is the best car in the 2 door section, and why? Well, if any of you who have seen Knight Rider, you would understand why the Ruiner is the best car.

Futo= 1985 Toyota Corolla Levin: Although this is a shrimpkin, this car has some pretty mad Top Speed and Acelleration. But, unfortunately, it cannot compare to the Ruiners speed and acelleration.

Fortune= 1991 Ford Crown Victoria: Like all Town and Country cars made in their time, they exceptionally suck at reaching top speeds, and at worst, quickly. Barely anyone suggests this car, and only if the exception of high traffic requires them to move swiftly but surely.

4 Door

DF8-90= 1998 Pontiac G6: With the futuristic name of the car, this is actually quite a fast car. Also, the handling can also account for such a strange name of the G6.

Sultan= 2004 Mitsibushi Lancer: Without all of the cool modifications from the RS, the sultan can be quite a slow car. But, the Handling hasn't quite lost it's touch, and it manages to keep up with the rest of the crew in this car section.

Presidente= 2007 Cadillac CTS: Since this car sounds like an executive vehicle, it's obvious this is not a fine choice for very rough races such as the ones in the Grand Theft Auto multiplayer. Unless your bringing the president with you to the race, theres no reason to choose this car.

Feroci= 2006 Lexus GS: Once again, this a car that isn't really necessary to drive with the foot slammed on the pedal. So, when you ever get the choice to do this section, choose either a sultan or a DF8-90.

Executive

Cognoscenti= 2000 Maybach 62 Sedan: I've never actually tried out any of these cars, so i can't really tell you which one is actually the best out of these. I guess this one is as slow as slow ones can be, thus that it might have some really good handling in mind.

PMP 600= 2005 Chrysler 300C: Looking at the wiki, I see that this is the second fastest vehicle of all the other cars in this class. But, I noticed how quickly this vehicle can get up to top speeds so be aware of that.

Oracle= 2003 BMW E65: The name of the car gave me the impression that this is a slow vehicle, and yes, it is. The third slowest in the group, with the exception of being a pricey business car, is not one to choose.

Intruder= 2004 Infiniti Q45: This is the slowest car in the game, but, i was tempted to believe this was the fastest car at this class. The Intruder had caught my attention of it being a fast car, but, unfortunately, I for the first time had chosen the ugly duckling.

Modern

Sentinel= 2002 BMW 7 Series E23 (i looked up the wiki, this is the correct model): I liked the speed and handling of this car back in GTA III and Vice City, and once again, it proved to be the best car of this section.

Premier= 2004 Chevy Cobalt: I always enjoyed the compactness and mpg of a Chevy Cobalt, but when placed as a Premier in a deadly GTA race, it doesn't match up.

Lokus= 2003 Lexus GS: Whenever i encounter a car with a strange model name, i disregard it as a fast car. This is one of them. The only way your going to win in this car is if your playing against a bunch of newborn babies.

Hakumai= 1986 Honda Accord: I looked up the details of this car, and it's maximum speed doesn't even go above 100 MPH. So, since a Honda Accord is only used for "Safe and Reliable purposes", this is the worst vehicle to choose from this group.

Vintage

Peyote= 1957 Ford Thunderbird: I was surprised to find that this was the fastest vintage vehicle of the group, but i guess they always say, "it's a THUNDERBIRD!".

Voodoo= 1960 Chevy Impala: I loved this car's speed back in Vice City, but with the introduction of the Peyote, I have to reluctantly don this the second best car in the section.

Manana= 1968 Cadillac Eldorado: I noticed what a extreme facelift that this car had gotten, and i had also noticed how terrible this car was. The poor handling, the teeny mouse motor and the small transmission all account for the Manana's poor reliability...on the racetrack.

Virgo= 1978 Lincoln Continental Mark V: Luxuries like this make me dread the poor speed of these vehicles. Nothing like the Virgo matches up to any of the cars when trying to go for dead last.

Police:

Police Cruiser= 2001 Ford Crown Victoria: Apparently, this car was at the top of the list of the fastest vehicles on the section, but i concur. Most people disregard ever choosing this vehicle because all Crown Victorias are not meant to be fast.

FIB Buffalo= 2006 Dodge Charger: This is the immediate choice of car that I take. Since Dodge Chargers have excellent top speed and acceleration, the Buffalo is a good compliment to it's capacity.

NOOSE Patriot= 2004 Hummer H2: I was surprised to find that despite the vehicle being based off a SUV, this vehicle can accelerate and reach top speeds about as fast as the Buffalo. Also, because of it's sheer size, it's an excellent vehicle for Rustlers and Blockers.

Police Patrol= 2005 Chevy Impala: This car is quite slow, and is only a moderate step up towards the Police Cruiser on account of improved acceleration and weight.

People Carrier:

Cabby= 2002 Dodge Caravan or 2003 Chrysler Voyager: I was hoping that the Habanero was the fastest vehicle, because i was in a recent match where driving the Cabby was dwarved by the Habanero. Now looking at it, maybe my driving skills don't account worth sh*t.

Rebla= 2004 BMW E53 X5: The Rebla acts like a counterpart towards the Habanero, but once driven, you can obviously tell the difference between the two.

Perennial= 2004 Honda Odyssey: I wasn't too fond of Perennials back in Vice City, and i'm still not a fan of them today, so don't expect me to put anything positive about this vehicle.

Habanero= 2008 Lexus RX: I thought at first that the Habanero (one of the hottest peppers) was going to be the fastest vehicle from other tests, but unfortunately, the wiki states that it is not. Sorry, little orange guy.

SUV's

Landstalker= 2003 Ford Expedition: Honestly, i do not like Landstalkers. They have decent speed and all, but their handling is so good that they can tip over so easily with the flick of a joystick.

Huntley Sport= 2002 Land Rover Range Rover: This is the best vehicle in this section. Pretty decent Top Speed, Acceleration, and some pretty solid handling.

Patriot= 2004 Hummer H2: Although this car was awesome as a war machine in Vice City, it has now grown accustomed to it's more pedestrian duties. And because of this, now the Patriot is not the fastest vehicle in this section, but it does have some very decent handling.

Cavalcade= 2006 Chevy Escalade: You can tell how the two grow alike, such as the model name. This is about as fast as the Huntley Sport, and has some pretty similar handling techniques such as that. But, Be careful, the tires can sometimes skid off suddenly.

Pickup

Contender= 2003 Ford SVT Lightning Concept: I usually go for the Cavalcade FXT when racing in this class, but i guess simple names pay the bills more than so.

Cavalcade FXT= 2004 Chevy Escalade EXT: This is my car of choice, although it isn't as fast as the Contender, it makes up for its decent acceleration and handling.

Bobact= 1984 Chevy C/K: I had adored the look of this car before, but the poor acceleration and top speed kept me away from using it, so as a suggestion, please, please don't use this truck.

Rancher= 1990 Chevy K5 Blazer: Although this vehicle has the offroad potential, most of the racing is done in the streets, on the highway and in your backyard, so only use this car if the tread your racing on is made of dirt.

Vans

Burrito= 2000 Chevy Express: I had loved the optional accesories this vehicle had in Vice City, and i still love this van today. Moderately good speed, acceleration and nice handling, The Burrito is not only a delicacy, but a delight.

Speedo= 2003 Chevy Express (Has some ford qualities): I had first chosen this car as the suggestion, since it had beared the name "Speedo", but it wasn't the best choice for a race but it was a good choice nonetheless.

Moonbeam= 1987 Chevy Astro/GMC Safari: I don't really like the design of this car, nor am i a fan of the performance qualities of the car either.

Pony= 1989 Dodge Ram Van: Like all horses like a pony, they start off really slow, and end really slow. So, I'm taking any more questions as to why this car sucks so much.

(it will be edited later after checking up on the rest of the cars)

Note: Thank you for harshly discriminating my hard work. I am trying very hard to finish this whole thing, and i am still willing to take any suggestions if needed, but please, keep your inner emotions to yourself.

A lot of your cars are wrong. The Sultan RS is a Toyota Altezza, the Sabre GT is a 1970 Oldsmobile 442, the Stallion is a 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass, the Ruiner is a 1986 Chevrolet Camaro, the Coquette is a 2004 Chevrolet Corvette C5, the Dukes is a 1970 Dodge Charger, the Vigero is a 1968 Chevrolet Camaro, the Blista Compact is a Honda CRX, the Futo is a 1986 Toyota Corolla, the Fortune is a 1993 Ford Thunderbird, the Sultan is a Toyota Altezza, and the Cavalcade is a 2006 Cadillac Escalade.

Interesting. But if I may, please may I offer the following:

Dukes= 1976 Plymouth Cuda: I really don't like how bad the handling and the acceleration this car has. I would very well not suggest it to anyone who is reading this topic right now. Also, the body is so long that it can grow attached to it's environment like a magnet.

I think you will find that the Dukes' overall body shell more closely resembles that of a Dodge Charger circa 1968-1970. The only bit that's really from the cuda is the vertical piece in the nose.

Blista Compact= 1993 Ford Fiesta: I was hoping this would be the best vehicle for all 2 door cars, since it had a starkingly high acceleration and top speed back in vice city, but unfortunately, no. But, unless you like holding the silver medal, this is only the second best car for you.

The Blista Compact hasn't changed much throughout the GTA games other than improvements in the quality of the modelling. It represents, as it always has an '86 Honda CRX.

In general terms, the key to identify which cars represent which real life cars is to look at the overall shape of the body shell. With only a couple of exceptions, Rockstar tend to copy the body shell and then tweak the nose and tail just enough to avoid any lawsuits and/or licensing issues. Sometimes they will blend design elements from two or more cars together, so you end up with the front half of one real life car joined to the rear of another.

As for personal preference with regards to vehicles, my favourite is the Turismo. It is extremely nimble. I find it to be one of the quickest cars point-to-point if driven with the correct technique.

As for 4x4's, my preference is the Patriot over the Huntley. The Huntley is fast, but is very twitchy at high speed. The Patriot is more stable. Also the Patriot is better over rough ground with the suspension keeping better contact with the ground. The Patriot is also heavier and better in impacts giving it excellent durability.

Algonquin Assassin

The Vigero is definitely not based on a Dodge of any kind. It's based on the 1969 Chevy Camaro.

(it will be edited later after checking up on the rest of the cars)

Firstly you need to remember that many cars aren't based off one car in real life, they usually take inspiration from many other cars.

I've only quoted the ones which I disagree or are impartial with.

The Infernus, is fairly obviously a cross between a Murcielago LP640 w/ wing + usual Zonda rear end. I don't see any Gallardo in it, at all really.

The SuperGT isn't a "2006 Aston Martin Virage"; there is no such thing! There's an old Virage that is what, 15 years old or so, and plenty of new AM's. I personally think this is a smaller version of a DB9, DB7, with the rear end of a F 550 (rear lights give it away).

The Comet isn't a "2005 Porsche 911 Carrera GT", there is once again, no such thing. There's a Porsche 911, and a Carrera GT, two completely different models. I think what you mean is a Porsche 911 Turbo.

The Sultan RS is an odd cross of an Altezza, *possibly* with hints of Evolution (rear lights), maybe some might say Impreza WRX (hood scoop). It's really a rather odd combination of many cars, especially since it's 2-door.

The Feltzer isn't a "2006 Mercedes-Benz SLR 500", once again, there's no such thing. There's a McLaren Mercedes SLR, and a Mercedes-Benz SL-Class. I think you mean the SL. It can also be argued that the Feltzer is slightly smaller than the average SL, possibly slotting inbetween the SLK, and SL-Class models.

The muscle cars are really all over the place, like many other cars, they take inspiration from almost any of the typical, massive American cars you'd get back in the days.

The Blista... my, my, deary me. It's obviously a Honda CRX, it's almost a blatant copy, yet you think it's a Fiesta? Seriously?

How the **** is a Futo a Camry? It's obviously based on the AE86, non-fastback version of the Corolla. Once again, almost a blatant copy.

The Fortune is no way a Crown Vic, it's just a generic pile of crap. If anything, it could only be a copy of that pile of rubbish, that Ford called the Thunderbird in the early 90's period.

There was a 1998 Pontiac G6? Please enlighten us. I personally do not know of such a thing.

The Sultan is in no way a slow car, I'd imagine it's rather the opposite, as far as I know, it's just about the fastest 4-door sedan, and is preferred in races against the other cars in it's class. It's very likely based on an Altezza, with inspiration from the Evo (even then, I struggle to find anything "Evo" about it), and the Impreza WRX. The blue, tuned version however takes a lot of inspiration from the WRX due to it's spoiler and wheel colour. I could even say that the overall body shape could be based on a third-gen Subaru Legacy B4.

I can barely see any resemblance between a Feroci and a 2006 GS. That was a completely random pick by you, if anything.

Good topic, I think I'll do one like this in the GTA III section! But I think the Stallion is a good car, and I don't like the IV's Patriot, it's weird to drive it, even thought I love the III's Era Patriot. And I agree, the LANDSTALKER must be the worst car ever! My favorite cars are: Banshee (since GTA III is one of my favorite, the car is very pretty and it seems to fly), Vigero (very good to drive, it has a good speed), Stallion (It's fun to drive it), Futo (Cheap, fast, and easy to drive, I completely love it!) Cavalcade (I love SUVs, specially ESCALADE happy.gif )

I see the OP has made some corrections and added some extra.

The Sentinel is based on a BMW 3 Series (E46).

Although based on the same chassis, the Ruiner is much closer to being a 1986 Chevrolet Camaro than a Pontiac Trans-am.

Although you've changed the Blista Compact to a Honda CRX, you're still listing it as being based on the 1993 model. The model it most closely resembles is the first generation CRX that Honda produced between 1984 and 1987.

Keep going countysteak. It's a lot of work, but you're getting there.

Here is the information i can give to you about what cars you drive in GTA IV, and how they compare with the rest of the cars in that section, since i am a wizz at cars:

Note: there is no such thing as a 2004 Corvette 'C5', there has always been a C6, but thanks for the help on the muscle cars and that blista compact, i was trying to configure the right name. I'll make those changes. Also, from now on, i'll go to the wiki for all the tips on the cars.
