In London, you do get shootings and drive bys but they are really really rare unlike the US. You will likely get stabbed or battered than shot by a London gang.

You forgot about the little girl who got shot playing at a playground. And those guys didn't shoot from the roof, they shot from empty apartment's windows. If you board up thw indow of the 10th floor or so, then poke a hole in it, you can shoot people without ever being seen. But that rape thing, I read about that, that was vicious.

 

They don't f*ck around in Chicago.

I think R* needs to experiment around with the mafia too, make them nasty. Like, as a random event, the mafia could be seen torturing somebody or burning them, then disposing of the body.

Suprised those who killed, themselves weren't harmed by the Don's order... I think it's in the Omerta, that kidnapping, rape and brutally beating your wife is highly frowned upon, and usually followers of the Omerta are either killed for their miss-leading or brutally beaten. In Haringey the police raided an average looking suburban house that was suspected to be used by the Turkish mafia, when the police went in they found two large meat hooks on the ceiling used for hanging people by their hands. Around the room they also found machetes, knives, blow torches, chainsaws and bolt cutters.

 

And people living in Britain will have probably heard of the 13 year old boy who was stabbed to death on a crowded train station in broad day light, alot of the attackers wearing school uniform.

 

Or the boy who was shot to death right as he was leaving his school and died in the arms of his teacher.

 

Or the 16 year old girl who was shot to death in a chicken takeaway in Hackney by a guy on a bike, they suspected the attack was aimed at one of her friends rather than her.

 

Britain isnt all cups of tea and crumpets like many people think, and murders happen all the time using guns, melee weapons and fists.

I dont fully agree with you on your point about Rockstar making gang members being more easy to spot by their colours in GTA 4. That was one thing I like about GTA 4 - I really liked that the fact in certain hoods in Liberty City, you could start trouble with someone thats dressed with no typical gang colours and looking seemingly unarmed, only for them to pull a out a gun and start blasting at you. It made  causing trouble with people in the street a very risky thing to do, giving a sense of random danger.  In real-life, I'm pretty sure most gang members in New York do not walk around parading their gang's colours and advertising the fact that they belong to to this and that gang, even the East Coast Bloods. Things are a little different on the East Coast where the police and authorities have more control in city districts, even in the ghettoes, and if they do wear colours it's probably no more than a few items that can be blended into other clothing as so not to make it too obvious. I don't think they are all that stupid. In think GTA 4 got that part right. But, you still will always get a few guys that do the opposite who either young and stupid, or just guys that love the attention and infamous reputation of gang membership.

 

 

I agree with this. I can't count the number of times I've attacked someone, and then they've pulled a gun out on me in GTA IV. It really is quite hard to pick out criminals from everyday peds.

 

I guess it depends on the city. From what I've seen of gang documentaries of American gangs West Coast street gangs are more open, while the East Coast street gangs are more discrete. Organized criminal factions like the Italian Mafia, Russian Mafia, Yakuza etc do seem to be more discrete however.

Very true. While not as infamous as some foreign gangs, Britain has got some VERY nasty crooks.

The problem is, black gangs in America don't use knives much. They use guns, and they don't often think before they shoot. So to keep realism with gangs, they have to open fire on you. Although sometimes, depending on the gang, if they don't feel you're worth bullets, they just beat you.

As for gang members shooting you I say that, if you physically assault them they should attack you with melee weapons/fists to, but if you shoot at them they should shot back, for the sake of game play.

 

I mean they should start to shoot at you if in the games story your in a rival gang but only if you start sh*t first or you hang around for a long ass time, or if in the story your in a huge ongoing gang war, but they should still not shoot you on site or if your in a car going by at 120mph like in III/VC, they should just have a shorter tolerance of your presence in there hood, then say a neutral gang, or if they would before relations with them went south in the story.

 

But I hope allot of these features posted here get put into GTA neXt.
