Brown Sugar Posted August 15, 2010 Share Posted August 15, 2010 First of all i'm really not sure where i should put this topic so if it's in the wrong section please move it and i also wan't sure what to name it so the title might be a bit misleading. I know that most of you probably think that the events of the III canon (GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas) did not exist in the Iv canon/era but there are a few hints in the gameplay of gta iv that suggest that they did exist in the iv era/canon. The first clue is if anyone regularly listens to integrity 2.0 on the radio like me you will probably have heard the announcer mention the previous radio shows lazlow was in includng "entertaining America" from gta san andreas and "chatterbox" from gta III. Also, i was reading the gtawiki page for claude and under the Trivia section on the 6th bullet point down it mentions that playboy x apparently murdered claude and stole his clothes this is how you are able to wear them if you kill playboy x and inherit his appartment this may not be the strongest evidence to suggest that the events of the III canon still happened in the iv canon although i believe they did Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

slyeagle Posted August 18, 2010 Share Posted August 18, 2010 all this cannon sh*t really makes me laugh, now i will say this slowly: GTA4......IS.......ANOTHER.....INSTALLMENT......TO......THE.......GRAND THEFT.........FRANCHISE. this sh*t about games being linked or not is horse-sh*t. gta4 takes place nearly 10 years after gta3, so sure there are gonna be references to older games. To illustrate: This is Liberty City. This is also Liberty City. They look nothing alike. They both have a Times Square, they both have the NYC elevated trains, they both parody and mimic New York's atmosphere and architecture, but they're not the same Liberty City. You can tell R* went out of their way to separate this game from the previous era. There are many nods to the III era but that is all they are. Though I admire and relate to your curiosity, coming into a fan-forum making baseless claims to revelations of cannon knowledge is actually a good way to "make this sound like a big deal."
