Grizzly20
Okay guys, so I just recently downloaded this amazing game off of the Xbox LIVE marketplace. Sometimes I REALLY feel like using cheats to mess around, so I want to ask all of you experts this question. If I save my game after using with health, armor, money and weapons cheats, will it mess up or corrupt my file?
Landstalker
For me, I cheated many times and none of my saves got corrupted or deleted.
radioman
The only thing those affect, are your Criminal Rating-it will put you at a negative Criminal Rating. The only cheats known to screw up the game by making it next to impossible to pass missions are: The Peds Riot/Peds attack each other ones. But it is HIGHLY advised that you DO NOT save with cheats activated as to not take the chance of messing up the game. Just a heads up. Cheats are not necessary, since their are a ton, and I mean a ton, of free weapons and armor out there throughout the state that are easy to get to, plus the collectibles-tags, horseshoes, and photo ops will get you free guns at the Johnson House in Compton, the garage in Mission,SF, and the IP Casino in LV. Plus the Casinos and Betting shop will get you lots of money, as well as killing drug dealers(they get you $2,000 each), Plus the R3 missions get you loads of money, as well as useful things for missions, the stadium events get you $10,000 each, etc.-these things are required for 100% anyway, so why not get them out of the way while the benefits they provide can be useful to you..? Grizzly20
I hear you man, I remember messing up Vice City to where I couldn't play it with the Peds Riot. The only cheat I use is the health, armor, and money one. If I save after using that cheat, will it mess everything up?
Landstalker
For me, it didn't happen. I guess it'll be the same for you.
Grizzly20
I guess I should clarify haha. I'm only using the cheat that gives you health, armor, and 250,000 ONE time and ONLY ONE time. Just to help out early in the game. To purchase weapons, etc. I'm not using it again, as later one I start getting more and more money. So, will this ONE cheat I use only once affect anything? Actually, the money cheat to buy weapons is pretty useless, because Ammunations do not open until almost the end of the LA(LS) part of the story. Also, doing the R3 missions(ie. Firefighter, Vigilante, Paramedic, Pimping, etc), will get you like 200,000 dollars(plus give added benefits to help with the rest of the game), The collectibles will give you free weapon spawns at certain safe houses(as well as contribute to 100%), the stadium events and courier the same, etc. Why not play the normal game and knock these things out early-since they are required for 100%, while the benefits they provide can be of use to you.? But No, those should not affect gameplay in any way, just the negative Criminal Rating will be affected...

What he said ^^^ After beating 3 and VC with cheats, I was so impressed with SA that I realised how much I missed. I passed SA with no cheats before starting sing them for fun, and then passed 3, VC and 3 again with no cheats. Believe me, if you use the cheat once it will not give you any advantage, but once you've reached 99.4% completion of the game you'll suddenly think "What an idiot I was!". But AFAIK, this particular cheat doesn't mess the game, although R* themselves advise not to save with it.

Also, when you said, "When you reach 99.4 % complete, you'll think, "What an idiot I was!" what did you mean? Do cheats affect 100% completion? Oh, and in your guys' opinions, so far I'm at the point where I could do either the lowrider race, more Big Smoke missions, or the OG Loc missions. My oldest save is before I did any Big Smoke or Ryder missions, and it has no cheats on it. Should I reload, since right now I'm feeling kind of bad for using that cheat. lol
lil weasel
Cheats always affect something. The criminal rating is in the Stats section of the game: reference; http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=228796&hl= You don't need to cheat for anything (except learning to fly the Hydra before you have to. And saving isn't necessary.) Do the Firefighting missions for the money and CJ should be fireproof for better combat. Even if you fail the money earned stays in the Bank. Spend time looking around for the FREE weapons and Body armour. You don't have to nor need to buy anything other than Safe Houses. Which many players don't realize add to the % of game completion. Look in enterable buildings, under bridges, on roof tops, in alleys. Do the gang tags for a cache in CJ's kitchen (AK47, Sawed off shotgun, micro-smg, and molotov cocktails.) A nice map is found here: http://gta-sanandreas.com/guides/tagsmap/index.php Later you'll want to get all the photo ops (earns 100,000$ besides getting a cache of Shotgun, sniper-rifle, mini-smg, and handgrenades.) http://gta-sanandreas.com/guides/snapshotsmap/map.htm Later you'll want to get the horseshoes (earns: 100,000$ besides getting a cache of M4 Assault rifle, SMG, Sachel Charges, and Combat Shotgun.) http://gta-sanandreas.com/guides/horseshoesmap/map.htm (and you really don't need to quote large immediately previous posting.) I am not sure if the cheats affect the completion percentage, but I know that some of them do and you may be stuck at like 97%. You said you only plan to use the cheat once; I would do some firefighter missions to get more money or use weapons maps to pick up the free weapons scattered all over San Andreas. What I meant was that SA is a very long game and it is a very satisfying feeling to say (boast!) to your mates that you passed SA with no cheats. And if you only use it once in the beginning it kind of sucks, because you can't really undo it in the end. To me it is just a little "I can" thing which makes me feel cool and important As far as I know it is safe to use the cheat you are talking about, and it is your personal choice whether you want to do it. As lil weasel said it may affect the game at some point however, although it may be something you won't even notice. Good luck! Grizzly20
You see, when I used the cheat, I had just done the mission, "Cesar Vialpando" or however you spell his last name, and since then, I used the cheat once, I plan on getting rid of all the money when Ammunation is unlocked so I can have the satisfaction of earning money, and I've done the Ryder mission, Big Smoke mission, and the only ones I have available now are the OG Loc missions. Do you think I should reload, is it worth it to do all those missions again without having that one cheat used one time? Again, thanks for advice. lil weasel
This Game of all the games I've played over the years (1977 trs-80) is well worth replaying anytime. I've played to the end over 40 times (None 100%, yet). And I've done over 430 missions for others. Yes, Yes this game is worth redoing without cheating.
