Custom music playing off the radio?

I was playing GTA IV a couple days ago and thought, 'Why can't we play our music on GTA..?' 6 minutes later I thought it would be a good idea if in GTA V we could request songs on the radio thats on our HDD, and the radio DJ would mention a requested song and when it ends he would say something like, 'Yo, dat was the sh*t!' Or whatever suits the radio station (Beat, LCHC, etc).

Or the character could pop a disc into the reciever and play music like that.

Just a thought, sorry if this is a repeated idea.

IMO I prefer the user track more since its easier to use and there is no adds and that you can skip to what song you want to listen. METALLICA ORION BABY! I've had that song in every gta I played since III.

yeah they need to bring this back. they had it on the xbox original for SA, i like that because they were custom radio stations actually in the game. Id like to make an all Opeth station and then an all Thrash Metal station. All i ever listen to on IV are talk shows, LCHC, Liberty Rock.

Would be complex to have the DJ announcing custom playlists - the game would be able to retrieve the song data without too much issue but you'd have to pass it through a speech converter.

It's do-able but processor intensive and you'd get some very strange pronunciations!

I wasn't talking about the DJs actually pronouncing the name. I was thinking this, "Hey, just got a request for this on the phones! I like 'dis guys taste!" And even then we don't need a DJ saying anything, like the idea I suggested of inserting a disc into the reciever.

Again don't take me litteraly, by 'inserting a disc...', I mean just flipping the station to (CUSTOM), the game would pause, and the XMB/Dashboard would pop-up and you chose the song.

Why not just custom playlists? Beats having to choose a song each time.

That works too! Maybe have playlists set-up from the pause menu and they play like a playlist... I like that, nice thinking xD

That's good too, have maybe 2-3 preset playlists that play as different radio stations, that way if you want to listen to chill out music while you drive around you choose Custom Radio 1, while if you want to listen to some metal/whatever while you cause mayhem you choose Custom Radio 2.
