I have a feeling the Next GTA Title will be

While it Shouldnt, since the ps2 had 3 through its lifetime. But the xbox 360 and ps3 are now running on very outdated Hardware est 2006 ( for PC standards. ) and PC gamers are way ahead hardware wise, the ps3 and 360 dont even run in real 1080p its all upscaled from 720p. pc gamers were doing 720p in 2002....

 

Anyone think theres going to be a large Time gap between GTA4, and the Next Title? I think Rockstar is going to take its time.

I agree with you. It would be crazy for R* to delay a GTA release for another 6 or 7 years in order to meet with the release of next next gen consoles. They could make two to three GTAs between that period. So I doubt it.

Actually m8 some Ps3 games run at native 1080P while all XBOX games run at 720P or less and are upscaled to 1080P , also no R* will not wait that long.

If the PC gamers are ahead hardwarewise, better for PC gamers. At least when R* does the sh*tty port of the next GTA for PC, hopefully you won't have to own the most powerful machine on the world to play it conveniently.

Lets turn on brains for a moment. Rock Star invested a ton of money into a new engine for GTA IV. Now, they have two options. Option the first. Spend a bunch more money to develop a completely new engine for architecture that hasn't even been announced just for sh*ts and giggles. Option the second. They can take the engine they have now, which thanks to previous investment is years ahead of the competition, and make another GTA game on that engine to turn a relatively easy profit.

 

To help you evaluate the two options, consider the following question. How likely do you think is that Rock Star decides that they have too much money already, and they definitely don't need any more? Because that's the only way that they could possibly come up with an idea of waiting for next generation.

 

Yes, they made RDR. That probably takes place of Vice City of their III era schedule of releases. They took GTA IV engine, tweaked it, and build a new setting and story for it. But they are going to make at least one major GTA game running on the same engine as IV did. And in this case, same engine does mean same consoles.

Uh, yeah, actually no. The RAGE engine was designed as the engine of choice for ALL Rockstar games moving forward. They designed it because their former engine of choice, Renderware, was purchased by EA. There were other RAGE games before GTA, and there will be other RAGE games besides GTA. And on the next gen consoles, they will have a RAGE2 engine or something.

I can't see it happening. Microsoft and Sony are both still supporting their respective consoles by doing upgrades and releasing new features. I suspect it will be at least 4 or 5 years before either releases a new console on the market. With that being said, I think we can expect to see at least one more GTA for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

They can't start developing for next gen until they actually have the hardware in their office to start developing for. Or even an idea of what specs the hardware will have. So that would mean doing no work on GTA until then which would be unjustifiable.

 

I'd put any amount of money on there being another GTA in this generation.

Another thing to think of: 3DS, PS3 Move, and Xbox Kinect are kinda the new gen of consoles. Even though they use the same base consoles, they all do something different. Food for thought.

I don't get this, and I hate people saying this. Why the f*ck are people so eager to spent another 300$ - 600$ on a new system, when developers still managed to push the limits, and so many great games come out ever year/month. GTA IV was pretty at release, only barley good looking, theres still alot of things R*N can do with this generation, Just look at RDR.

Not a hope in hell Take-Two shareholders would stand for that. Plus the RAGE Engine would be obsolete by that time. It would be like a car manufacturer spending 3 years designing a brand new model then scrapping it two years later. When what they actually do is refine & update that model over many years to maximize profits. The more powerful consoles become the more expensive the development costs, especially for AAA titles.

 

Anyway there are games still to come for this gen that look absolutely jaw dropping like Rage & Crysis 2.

Yes but the map, most vehicles and weapons were practically the same, EFLC was an expansion pack, not a full game - which is why it cost £25 new whereas IV cost me £40 ish at launch

The next GTA will be released on this gen consoles, probably will take all advantage of the console hardware it can offer. The next GTA however; will be on next gen consoles.
