Benzoboy
Well yeah, as the title says really, I'm looking into trying to produce some dubstep tracks, and if it goes well, then I guess I'll try take it a bit further. If anyone can help me it'd be greatly appreciated, first off though I'm after a name, I had a little conversation about this with Rhyn over MS of the N and he came up with "Fractal" and I came up with "Riddla". If this helps, here are some other well known dubstep producers names; - Cookie Monsta - Caspa - Doctor P - Flux Pavilion - Datsik - Excision - Borgore - Subscape Secondly, what software shall I use? Bearing in mind I haven't got the greatest knowledge of music (That's subject to change, and I hope it does), here's some dubstep tracks if it helps... massrcor
Music software? I suggest FLStudio. It's easy to learn and easy to obtain... (muahahaha) You can make simplistic beats or complex orchestral ensembles. ...not to mention I use it. @Meta:
Cheat
How could you possibly forget about The Widdler? If you use FL Studio (I recommend!), check out this tutorial about doing a wobble-bass with a great plugin called 3xOsc that comes with FL, it's easy yet super important when you're doing dubstep beats, also look around the net (warbeats.com for example) for some other preset packs, I got a few but can't remember where I got them from. As I helped you I'm gonna share a link to a little dubstep loop I made some time ago Check it out!
Ats.
For software, I too recommend FL Studio. It's easy and straightforward. Unlike Cubase or some other software. But Cubase is more professional and used in studios too. Yeah, go with Fruity Loops, like others said. I thought about making dubstep too, so thanks for the tut Cheat. anus
IMO, you can make just as good music with FL Studio as you can with other super expensive 'pro' software like Reason, Logic, etc. It all depends on how the program is used. FL Studio is basically a very powerful program in an easy to use interface, this interface is what seems to have given it a rep of not being able to produce 'pro' music. So I recommend FL Studio. For a name, what about Excursion? Goes along with dubstep well since it hits hard on subs (subwoofer excursion). Btw, that Bionic Commando remix is dope as hell. meta187
Btw, that Bionic Commando remix is dope as hell. Yea, I actually really liked that as well. ~ Studio: Q-13 Lounge / Q:13 Warrior Tunes / Interweb Chex Mix, yo.~
radltzx
Well if you won't get into FL Studio then I suggest trying Reason 4.0 (or 5.0 when it comes out on the 25th of August). I'm sayin this because I remember when I first wanted to try to create music, I asked my friend what would be the best app to start with, he suggested FL studio. But when I tried it I just couldn't get into it, didn't even know where to start and everything seemed so limited (and dark lol) etc. (obviously that's because I didn't know jack sh*t about how to use it ). After that I didn't even get back to it. But then my other friend showed me Reason and I really loved it. It seemed to be much simpler to use (though most of the people say it's much more difficult ). My friend then tought me some basic stuff and I've been using it ever since. So yeah, cheers and good luck.

Benzoboy
Haha, well now I know FLStudio is the way forward cheers guys @Warlord.: Excursion would be a good name, but it's pretty similar to Excision, I dunno, maybe... What do you guys reckon to the ideas in the first post already?
boxmonster
You should call yourself Doo Poo Mane Maybe you should come up with your name yourself, this is where that "only you know who you are" crap comes into play.
