I Hate EXCLUSIVES

Ok, so if anyone out there is a video game fan- and has been playing video games for a long time. This is the one thing I hate about video games- why do game companies make games "exclusively" for one system? I dont' get that. I own a 360 and I don't have a ps3- so I hate it when games get put "exclusively for PS3" or "exclusviely for Wii". It's like OK, so I chose to buy a 360 so I have to miss out on playing that game??? That's a crock of b.s. Maybe some of us don't have the money that is necessary to go out and buy all 3 consoles. So when a game is announced for one system- you immediately lose access to playing that game on your console. It's completely unfair that you choose a 360 or a ps3 or whatever it may be- and you have to lose the ability to play so many games. If it were up to me- I'd make it a law that all video game developers need to release their games for ALL 3 consoles- that way everybody can play what's out there.

who do you think pays for the exclusives? the company that makes the console. Why? So people would buy their console. If there were no exclusives there wouldnt be a point for micrsoft and sony to compete in the console gaming market.

Any exclusive sucks, I'm less concerned with exclusive games as I am with exclusive content. Pre-Order and system exclusive bullsh*t. Take for instance the whole PS3 exclusive chapter of Mafia or the otherwise unobtainable pre-order armor for Halo Reach. That's where I really see gaming's downfall originating.

To be able to emulate a PS3 is going to take a lot longer than "a few years" and a lot more cash than "500 dollars".

 

Not only does someone need to make a PS3 emulator, but for a PC to run one it has to be about 7 times more powerful than a PS3 itself, at least, that's how I understand emulation usually works.

You are exactly right, but you forget about moores law and how most console generations last around 6 to 7 years

gaming is a business just like any other. They gotta make money and if sony let any xbox lover play their games than they might as well throw money into a fire. Same if Microsoft released their games for playstation. There's a reason we're never gonna see a zelda game on the playstation. It might suck to you but its the main way 1st party developers make their money.

I don't mind first party titles, because after all they are built for their systems. I do hate however, when a game company (Bungie) becomes a whore for a game company (Microsoft) and becomes bottom bitch. Now for console exclusive DLC, it's all matter of check book fighting, I don't mind it, but for the gamer who doesn't have it all, I'd imagine it sucks.

Well the $1000 was an exaggeration but...

 

Australians bought a PS3 at launch and were in fact $1000(AUS).

 

People have payed tens of thousands for (rare) NES carts.

It's all about money these days. Big companies don't care about consumers, they only care about profit. And for some reason they think releasing a game on one system only will generate more profit then releasing it to all systems. Not only that they're greedy, they're also stupid.

There are a few wanky deals floating around. Stuff such as pre order packs which are pish - console exclusive content to non exclusive titles which are bigger pish, but on the whole the only people who are really missing out when it comes to exclusives are the mulish wankers and company fluffers who have chosen to turn their back on a particular platform and back only their chosen pony. The rest of us are enjoying some fairly decent games and gaming deals that probably wouldn't have been so fairly decent, or have even existed, had their destined platform not had a vested interest in making them so fairly decent that they could sway your peepers on to their product.

 

Its fairly grand owning all available platforms, and if your wallet is sizable enough that it allows you the liberty of feeling as if youre missing out on games which you could have bought, then you've probably got the cash to go ahead and purchase the console that these games are on. If you do that, not only do you get to enjoy the gaming experience that individual console offers- in some years time, you'll also get to watch those mulish wankers and company fluffers waste their time playing something you've already completed back when we were all driving cars that didn't float.
