slyeagle
To all ya'll calling for GTAV to be in rome, london, serbia, or whatever, the problem is that by the nature of the way these cities evolved most of their streets are narrow and twisty. this provides a problem when you are in an infernus, boming down the road at full speed, with the cops, and noose behind you: traffic and space, in an american city there are wide multi lane roads, lots of space to manuver, not so in europe. KEEP GTA IN THE US. *Although recreating the opening scene of team america, with civillian deaths does seem tempting, cheating french twats. P.S. the cops in france would never arrest you tho, they would just surrender! Edited August 13, 2010 by slyeagle

Nova69_7
ok Lol! I guess you should consider yourself told Username482. I see your point about the narrow streets slyeagle but there is more to GTA than cruising the streets in a fast car. For the record I firmly believe a GTA set in London or Paris could work very well...although I wouldn't like to say when a game like this would be released - think it might be a while yet. jamieleng
Yeah you are right. I live in London & all our roads are cobbled and they are only wide enough to fit one horse & carriage on. We also have no straight roads seeing as they were all built in the Roman times. In fact they don't even go anywhere & just stop in the middle of a field for no reason. Anyway I'm off to have some tea & crumpets. Maybe a little cricket or fox hunting after lunch. Tally-ho!

It's just started raining, so I guess I'll be staying in & beating the wife to keep me amused. The thing is there are many legitimate reasons why GTA might not work outside the mighty U.S. of A. Yet people insist on pointing out dumb reasons like "They drive on the left in Ingerland" or "There are no guns in the United States of Europe". Why can't people read through a few topics before starting pointless threads like this one.
meson1
Okay. Think of some of the amazing classic movie car chases that have been featured in cities around Europe. For instance, The Bourne Identity in Paris; the Transporter series of movies; The Italian Job in Turin and any number of Bond movies. Imagine recreating and/or parodying these in a GTA game. The traffic is all scripted in the GTA mission chase sequences anyway, so how is that different? If you do, say, Out Of Commission, you actually see the traffic ready spawned ahead of you and it's stationary until you get close enough whereupon it starts moving. And it's always the same with the same vehicles making the same maneuvers and spinning out in the same way.

Well, Ireland is a part of Europe, but its streets don't necessarily (spelling?) represent streets in other European countries. Here in Germany, we do have narrow and wide streets. We do have the Autobahn where there's no speed limit. I've never been to Ireland before, but Im almost sure that there are wide streets aswell... Your argument is... not even an argument. You failed hard. Im sorry.
SirPsychoSexy
You might wanna go to Paris, wider and broader Avenues have never been seen. Also, wouldn't narrow streets add a lot to GTA games? I find it boring driving on the wide streets and avenues in Algonquin all the time, love it when I come down to Little Italy or Suffolk where the streets are more interesting. Ok, as ive already said, I dont know what the streets in Ireland look like. But here in Germany we have wide inner city streets. Even in my hometown which is a rather small town with about 75.000 inhabitants. So, in my eyes, there's no problem with the streets.
BrownBear
I would love to play on windy streets in GTA it would make for a welcome change i think. And the French took over half of Europe, alot of North Africa and alot of the Caribbean.
General Goose
Frankly, it doesn't matter. I live in London, by far the best European location for GTA and the most likely, and while we do have a lot of twisty, narrow streets, but we also have plenty of longer, straight roads. Add to that and a different road pattern would make for much more interesting chases.

Nativedeem
I fail to see the problem. If anything being chased through narrow and winding streets sounds more interesting and appealing than the thought of another boring grid system if only they changed the a.i. so that they dont always know EXACTLY where you are even if they cant actually see you. that would make chases much better like say if you back into an alley and they dont see you, you watch the cops just drive past. Thats the biggest problem, If the police AI can barely pursue you on the straight wide roads of Liberty, then god help them if that AI had to try and navigate twisty back alleys!! Kwandilibro
Now, I will say that the streets in London are f*cking retarded and would be terrible for a chase. I will also say I'm not a huge fan on British accents. I might even add that the level of gun crime in London is kind of iffy, and would be awkward to me for GTA compared to the running and gunning. But most other things would be pretty irrelevant. And if R* can deal with that stuff, I see no problem with London. But seriously, how can you have a good chase on narrow, curving, tangled roads if LC cops could barely keep up with you on straight, wide open avenues? And to add to that, every car feels like it's on ice. Now try to make multiple high speed turns in small spaces on ice and see where it gets you. That's my real problem with London. I could get over the other things. But the rest of Europe just seems unrealistic for GTA. On that note, why the f*ck did somebody make another thread like this? BrownBear
They could add a feature were you can lost the cops in the winding avenues. But anyway alot of the council estates (projects) that were built in the 60's follow a more American street plan. As for gun battles Rockstar exagerates and takes inspiration from pop culture, and films like Snatch and Lock stock have gun battles aplenty.
