Atreyuu2003
A while back I posted that I wasn't getting the phone call from Cesar (I think that's his name)...sister's Mexican boyfriend. Someone here told me to wait and finish the Sweet and OG missions. I have finished them, and now, not only is Cesar NOT calling, but I'm not getting the call from Tenpenny either to start the C.R.A.S.H. missions. Basically, I start up the game and NOTHING is happening...no missions at all...no letters on the map of things I can do. Sure, I can run around and do a bunch of nothing, but I am trying to go for 100%, and now it seems the game doesn't want me doing anything. I am stuck big time. Can someone please help? I have the PC game.
OrionSR
Your symptoms sound somewhat similar to problems people had with older versions of the Hot Coffee mod - in particular, I believe it was version 2.0 that suffered from this problem. Actually, I believe the main problem is anything that messes with integer stat 181, which unlocks the islands as the game progresses. If you mess around with that then this type of problem can occur. If this is the problem then there is no solution. The corruption could probably be repaired by a skilled coder but I doubt anyone with the required skills are likely to help out - that's what you get for messing around with mods. Reinstall, and start over.
lil weasel
Reference to the Previous trouble posting: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=455359&hl= What we didn't ask at that time Is: Are you playing the game with the Original DVD in the Drive? You are not trying to use a No-CD program or crack. If you Downloaded your game: is it from other than Direct2Drive or SteamPower.com? What Version do you have? How many Cheats did you use? Did you Mod the game? Edited August 13, 2010 by lil weasel
Atreyuu2003
Thank you for your reply! I am using the original DVD. I don't know what version I have. I installed the Hot Coffee 2.0 that came with the purchase, and I played a good portion of the game a couple of years ago (including the phone calls) with no problems before I decided to start over and go for the 100%. This time, besides Hot Coffee, I only used the money cheat, except one time when I used the bunny hop cheat to finish the darn bike park mission. Hot Coffee isn't even that important to me. I only put it in because I wanted the game to be exactly as it was meant to be when it was first developed. Since my last post, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game, and then inserted my saved games, but still no phone calls. I have completed ALL of the jumps and tags, and I am done with the Sweet missions and OG missions. Man, it would sure suck to have to do this all over. As a matter of fact, I probably won't if there is no way to fix it. This game will just go into the closet with the rest of the deceased games like Myst and RCT2. lil weasel
The 'HC' Mod is not a part of the original playing game. Rockstar never released it, as a playable part of the game. So... I would guess that is your problem. Lose it. Lose any other mods. Presuming you have Vista: If you're on Vista, you'll need to do this: 1) Uninstall SA. 2) Delete the installation folder if it still exists. (e.g. C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas). 3) Delete the Virtual Store copy of the installation folder too. The Appdata folder might be hidden. (e.g. C:\Users\???\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas). 4) Delete the gta_sa.set file from your user files folder. 5) Reboot. 6) Reinstall SA. If you need money in the game do the Firefighting missions, even if you fail you will still make a lot of money. Same with the Taxi missions (as many consecutive as possible for bonus'). radioman
Also, if you have any game saves that were saved while the mods and/or cheats were beimg used, it would probably be best to delete them and start fresh-this time though, DO NOT use mods and Cheats. The game can be passed simple enough without cheats. If you need money, the R3 missions gets you loads of it, the Stadium and Courier missions gets you loads of it,killing drug dealers gets you $2,000 per kill from dropped money, weapons can be found easily by looking around the city/state-there are loads of them around, along with health and armor, Once you get the Collectibles out of the way(ie. Tags, Horseshoes, Photo Ops, Orysters), you will have free weapons at a safe house in LS(The Johnson house in Compton), SF(Garage in Mission), and LV(Ithe IP casino in LV). Start fresh, and let this be a lesson not to use mods/cheats on your games. Also, the Race track(betting shop) and Casinos are also great ways to make more money. So, they money cheat is not needed in SA, as money is real easy to get. Also, after a un-install/re-install, remember to delete the .set file in the User Files Folder in Documents(Vista and 7)/My Documents(XP). As for the Hot Coffee mod, it is/was NOT part of the Original game, it was created by a modder, as such is why Rockstar released V2 of the game, to disable that mod from being usuable. Just a heads up. Edited August 14, 2010 by radioman
Atreyuu2003
Thanks for your generous replies, guys! I will consider starting over, or, as I said, I may just forget about the game altogether; I really don't feel like tagging and jumping again for seven or eight straight days in my spare time. Again, my thanks.
radioman
Thanks for your generous replies, guys! I will consider starting over, or, as I said, I may just forget about the game altogether; I really don't feel like tagging and jumping again for seven or eight straight days in my spare time. Again, my thanks. To make the Collectibles easier, just grab Demerest's Pillager Code tool, it plots the locations for them on the in-game radar to make it extremely easier to find them, they are displayed one at a time-ie. all tags, then you can select the next one ie. photos, then the orysters, and then horseshoes-it is in the Pinned Downloads Database topic if you want to check it out.. The Unique Jumps ARE NOT required for 100% in SA. Just a heads up. Using Dem's Pillager code tool, you can get the collectibles out of the way in about 1 hour real time... Just a few heads up... Atreyuu2003
Just one last question. Demarest's wants to know what version I have. How do I find that out? My guess is that I have 2.0. Thanks
radioman
Just one last question. Demarest's wants to know what version I have. How do I find that out? My guess is that I have 2.0. Thanks If it says on the game box "Second Edition" it is V2, If it says nothing, it is V1, If it is the Steam/D2D version, it is V3(which V2 code tools should work on that one). OR if it says V2.00 on the in-game start up screen, it is V2-V1 says nothing on the start up screen to my knowledge. Hope this helps.
