My system runs really hot after playing GTA 4 .

i've played other games ( Company of heroes , Alien vs predators .etc ) , but none would be as hot as gta 4 , does that means it is using up alot of power from my graphics card and Power supply when running the game?

My card temperatures shot up to 71degress . which is really hot !

whereas other games it mostly max out at 60-65 degress.

Yeah, sadly this is normal. GTA IV uses way more GPU and CPU processing power than other games because its not that well optimized for x86/x64. My GPU jumps into the 80s/90s sometimes when playing, and GTA killed my original PSU. Admittedly that was after a year of playing on it, and it was slightly underpowered. tounge2.gif

71 degress is actually very good for a video card temp under load. Video cards run hotter than CPUs and are built to handle the additional heat. It won't damage the card in any way.

70 ish is quite low as said, mines goes to around 80. most graphics cards are designed to go up to 105 or 95, depending on the make and model.

Yeah, 70-ish is low.

Mine goes up to 83C degrees with 9600M GT from NVIDIA.

A bit shoking at that heat confused.gif

I had overheating problems with that card which caused it to become damaged.

Don't let it go over 85C, thats what fried mine whilst playing Modern Warfare 2.

As others have said, 70C is actually really good for a graphics card under load. Mine gets to about 80C because it's overclocked, but you generally don't want it to get much hotter than that under any circumstances.

sh*t, then Im actually f*cked.

But atleast I removed the dust.

It was hot very fast than normal.

Fipped the notebook and I saw indeed dust wich causes the heat air cant get away.

So removed them.

Now the weather also plays a role in heats of graphic cards.

In the winter its alot cooler and cold.

I played GTA4 4-5 hours and stayed constant 76C degrees in the winter tounge.gif

And now its half August and its embarrasing, max 83C sneaky2.gif

How about the high-end cards?

Like GTX 480 and ATi 5970?

They have alot higher clock speeds so they produce more heat than older high-end cards?

And only GTA4 because of these 1000's objects and things in a screen.

No, they have much bigger coolers so usually they'd get to about 70, 75ish on load.

Ultraman1966

The GTX480 is notorious for being hot, reaching typical 90 to 95C when highly stressed!
