Hydro_PT
Dunno where to post this, but I just loaded my GTA IV and GFWL says there is an update available. My game is patched with the latest patch (1.0.7.0), so this probably means that a new patch is out. Here's a pic of the update: http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/6829/liveupdate.jpg My GFWL client is in Portuguese, but I assure you that's the typical "update" pop-up. I loaded Colin McRae DiRT 2 (another LIVE title) just to be sure this isn't a normal GFWL update and it isn't, because DiRT 2 started without asking for the update. The same for Episodes From Liberty City, no update available. It seems it is just for GTA IV. I'll install it and report if anything changed. Rockstar didn't officially say anything yet (at least on the Social Club).
Hydro_PT
Just installed the update, it took some time to download and install. The game shut down itself and the LIVE update installer appeared. After the installation was finished, two new folders (if I'm not wrong) appeared: DirectX_Update and Config. The first is empty, the second has a 7MB .exe file called "GTAIV_CONFIG". I ran it and I think it updated the Direct X, even though my version is the latest. I loaded the game and played a bit, everything seems to be exactly as before. No new settings in the options, the performance is the same and even the few mods I have are still working. I played GTA IV yesterday, so this update is certainly something new (12th August) and not something I missed in the last days I didn't play. Let's see what Rockstar says. danjodan
Is the update for EFLC or just IV.
GTA3Freak-2001
He said just for GTA4, which is strange as both versions need or could do with a patch.

sjaak327
Me neither. I was not excpecting any patches for this game anyway, unless maybe for TBOGT to fix the lights on the TBOGT specific vehicle models.

Did you already check GTAIV.exe ? Does it say 1.0.8.0 under File version and / or 1, 0, 8, 0 under Product version ? I, too, played Grand Theft Auto IV yesterday and didn't receive an update either. I don't want to spoil it but does anyone here think R* will release another patch AND fix those lights? Honestly?
Hydro_PT
I don't know why you aren't getting the update, honestly. I tried 3 different games (DiRT 2, ELFC and GTA IV) and only IV required an update, which makes me think it is indeed a patch or some kind of fix for this game in particular. When I loaded EFLC I was also expecting to see the update window pop-up, because a new patch for EFLC is needed to fix those lights, and we only got 2 so far. For GTA IV I'm not expecting nothing else, I don't think they will bother on another patch, as their patches usually create new problems to the game lol. I don't know what was the update then. My game was patched to the latest version, I'm absolutely sure about that. @Mr.Anonymous: Yes I checked the .exe, it still appears version 1.0.7.0. @mkey82: I didn't know that. I thought those two folders were new, because I don't remember seeing them before.

Well, I don't think they will, however, it's a silly problem related to the models, all that is needed is a new vehicle.img file. (in which only the TBOGT specific vehicles need to be fixed). It annoys me to no end, that such a small problem has been allowed through their QA team. (Hint).

Hydro_PT
When I first played TBOGT I thought Tony's car didn't have reverse lights, which was weird but ok. Only when I started driving the other cars I noticed none of them had working reverse lights. It annoys me everytime I have to go backwards (which is something that happens quite often ). Also, I don't know if anyone has ever noticed, but all cars in GTA IV and TLAD have working reverse lights, however the light from these lights illuminates the front of the car and not the back. I noticed this a long time ago, but never saw this being discussed on the forums. I even searched for this problem but nothing came up. Please tell me I'm not the only one that noticed this. If you didn't notice this, grab one of the original cars, destroy the front lights (during nighttime) and put the car in reverse gear. You will notice the reverse lights illuminating the front of the car, and not the back as they are supposed to. The only vehicle where the reverse lights seem to work as they should is one of the taxis, can't remember which one though.

(Hint). lol hint of what? The whole "Games For Windows Live, is a superset of the Games For Windows requirements for quality and compatibility" business? The statement is ridiculously false it's practically impossible not to be disgusted at how blatantly they are willing to lie. I noticed that without destroying front lights, its just suspcious when area in front of your car randomly gets brighter when you press down arrow...so you start pressing it randomly and watching the screen for response... I hope GTA 5 will be free of this kind of errors. EDIT: Did anyone notice how in TLaD, when you call for a gun van, after he drives off his car illuminates a noticeable area round its rear, but its not like lights. Imagine something like, white glow from his rear lights. Looks quite funny.
gamerzworld
No prompt for an update here, on both EFIGS IV and EFLC. Could you send me the titleupdate.log and TitleUpdate-msi.log located at C:/Users/YOUR-USER-NAME-HERE/AppData/Local/Microsoft/GFWLive/Install/Logs . Those logs should contain the actions performed by the installer and also the location of the installer on your hard drive if it hasn't been deleted yet. One of them is pretty small, so I will post it here. The other is really big and the information is in Portuguese, so I don't know if you will be able to see what was modified. From what I could see, the update mainly focused on installing lots of files in the "common/shaders" folder, and it also modified the HTML that make up the fictional sites in-game. I'll send you a PM with the other file. titleupdate.log Launching Title Update: "C:\Documents and Settings\Jorge\Definições locais\Application Data\Microsoft\XLive\Updates\5454083b\Content\UpdateTitle.exe" /selflaunch /p 1f84 /r"C:\Programas\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV\LaunchGTAIV.exe" GTAIV.exe Launching: C:\Documents and Settings\Jorge\Definições locais\Application Data\Microsoft\XLive\Updates\5454083b\Content\TitleUpdate.msi ACTION=INSTALL REINSTALLMODE=amus LAUNCHEDVIASETUP=1 APPLICATIONROOTDIRECTORY="C:\Programas\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV" TRANSFORMS=:Instance1 MSINEWINSTANCE=1 Relaunch: LaunchGTAIV.exe Success
