Myths/Legends

Kwandilibro, what motioned your mind into a thought like trying to correct me about Myths and Ancient Legends? That's like trying to one-up Typhus with Urban Legends (inlove.gif ).

Seriously, I said Bigfoot because that is the generalised term for any of those creatures. You want a Skunk Ape? Go ahead and have one, but I am calling it a Bigfoot, because that is what it is.

Oh, and the picture is showing fossils of a humanoid by the way, but I am sure it was meant to add mystery to San Andreas.

Huh? I was just bringing up examples. No need to get all harsh and sh*t.

@Typhus, How is Bigfoot boring? A giant f*cking ape man walking around scaring the rhinoceros sh*t out of people is boring?

What's scary about an ape? They're not even carnivores, or malicious in any way, just animals wandering about.

I think a myth has to have some kind of dangerous, gruesome edge to be really interesting. And Bigfoot, unfortunately, is just a big ape who runs away a lot. Nothing scary about him whatsoever.

He is the original reason for me getting interested in Legends, so allow me to elaborate the reason why he is important. If science can prove his existence, then we might have a missing link in the evolutionary chain. A man-ape would be any genetics expert's wet dream to see.

But, he will live on in legend much like the 'Chupacabra' or 'Mothman'. If you want me to say more just PM me man, I'll be glad to discuss Urban Legends anytime.

Back to the game myths, the reason he was popular here, was a lot like the reason the serial killer in Bone County was intriguing. It was because it was something out of the normal gang and mafia day.

Speaking of which Unoriginal44 I think there should be a Monthman in the next GTA and for you to see it it should be at night any day and when you see him something bad will happen e.g. you'll get run over by a car and at full health and die or your fall off a building or something bad like that happens first and then when you respawn at the hospital it's night and for about 10secs you see him then the screen goes black then to normal and he's gone mercie_blink.gif that would be awsome

Bingo! Hit the nail on the head, mate. You know, I may not like the Bigfoot story. But I do want him in the game.

In the woods, assuming there are woods, there should be a cabin. In which you can accept a side mission that will technically be running throughout the whole game. A Bigfoot hunt. As in real life, they will offer you millions of dollars for scalping that son of a bitch. But you can then go about your business and look for him whenever you want.

Let me be clear, it's not actually important to include him in the game in a physical sense. But what I'd love to see Rockstar do is actively create the illusion that he could be. Use the update system to knock down a few trees every once in a while. Create complete disorder in the fanbase so we can at least agree that something is amiss.

Personally speaking, I would love the game to be absolutely filled with myths and weird sights, but that might not happen. But a Bigfoot-hunting side mission would please everyone. Don't you think?

I mean, what do they have to lose?

Immersion? Realism? Genre appeal? Consistency?

All boring when that's all we're given. You need more, like real life, you need the creepy stories and the sense of the unknown. Too much realism creates a boring, drab world where nothing strange ever happens and never will happen.

Liberty City was like that, it was exactly like that. The next setting should seek to rectify this and give us some interesting peculiarities.

^^^EDIT: Yeah right sarcasm.gif

You could do it for NPC's as well.  I'd like to see an Elvis or Tupac hidden in the game.  Or you could go to the theatre and see Michel Jackson in a janitor suit sweeping up.  Something like that might be nice.

I dont know if this info is right but take a look at this I copied it from a website someone made for the gta:sa myths here is what I found and heres the link

"At yet another interview, Rockstar said "There is no Bigfoot in the game, but there is a something in the woods." Some players have reported seeing a bear - like creature walking on four legs in the woods, could this be what Rockstar were talking about?"

this could be cool if they did made it into a part of the chance encounters system seen in RDR, and not just for myths what about witnessing a serial killer (thats been talked about on the news, by peds and in story diologue) going about his crimes, government black baggings/kidnappings ( a van screeches up in front of you, men quickly jump out grabbing a ped placing a black hood over their head and quickly driving off), grave robbers/illegal organ trade in the cemetary/hostpitals, suicide attempt form buildings, bridges..etc, amature masked vigilantes..etc some more urban based myths. As for the more bizzarre things maybe a ufo sighting in the sky, maybe a cult (manson family, wickerman, klu klux klan etc)ritual in the outback/countryside/woods etc, maybe a horror pastiche inbred family (with hints of cannibalism) deep in the woods (texas chainsaw, hill have eyes etc), ghost in a derelict building, if done correctly and so they werr incredibly rare then i could really add a new element to the game, if once you encountered these events side missions/story became available, and with events like the ufo/ ghost..etc setting it would trigger some diologue from the protag and would also increase slightly the chance of seeing it again , an improved chance encounters system is surely going to be part of the next gta and i hope the more surreal possibilties are taken advantage of as well as the obvious more urban/crime side of chance events/encounters because it add real life to the environment and id quite like for gta to go a bit more trippy/stylised/art house/grindhouse/surrealist(sin city, city of lost children, natural born killers, tarantino, rodriguez, david lynch,) because if done right it could be amazing

R* doesn't really make up the myths/legends.. the community does. Sure R* said something about "Ratman" living in the subway tunnels on the radio they put in IV, but the community fueled the myth and made it bigger than it was. R* never said bigfoot living in the forest in San Andreas but the community believed it so therefore fuel to keep the myth running. So R* won't put in myths/legends, us as the community will.

yeah, BUT, what about myths that are real? i know this isn't some horror game, but in a way, it might add realism having misunderstood social outcasts and half mutated creatures
