Kwandilibro
Now, I'm sure most of us remember the claims of Bigfoot and Leatherface in San Andreas, particularly around Whetstone and Back O Beyond(I was convinced that I saw Bigfoot on Mount Chilliad). And I'm sure at least some of us spent countless hours searching for these mythical creatures, who, in the end, turned out to be nonexistent ( ). But just think of the hours, even days of extra gameplay Something like an extremely rare creature or something could add to the game. Granted that there's a region of countryside or heavily wooded area, I think this would be a great addition to GTA. Now, by "extremely rare", I don't mean nonexistent like SA. I also don't mean common, fairly common, rare, relatively rare, or considerably rare. I mean ridiculously rare, where intentionally encountering this creature would be almost impossible. Plus, there could be some sort of ingame hunt to find the creature within a certain region. And, if photographed(with a camera, provided they return as well), a large amount of money would be awarded. And by large, I mean dogsh*tloads of money. I don't know, maybe I'm just talking sh*t. But does anybody agree with me? Any ideas maybe?

WDR
Your idea seems very similar to RDR's bounty hunting. Except with the rare part and it's creatures rather than humans.

jamieleng
Sounds like the legendary animals in RDR. Except rarer. The legendary animals in RDR were piss easy to find in single player. I found each one within 5 mins of arriving in their territory. I really hope they carry over all the animals from RDR into the next GTA. I think they just might, as I didn't see any backlash from the media & it was a game that got a lot of attention. With regards to having a really rare animal in the game, sure why not. I don't know how they would make it that rare as I don't understand how computer programming works. For online freeroam the creature could only appear when a R* employee is playing, only you would never know when that would be.
meson1
I quite like the idea of putting a mythical something (UFO, creature, etc) somewhere in GTA. But for it to work properly, it does need to be so seriously rare so when it is mentioned, no-one believes it. Now to do this properly I think you need to consider the following: there are millions of people that will be playing GTA for hundreds of hours. Sales of GTA:IV was 17 million copies (if Wikipedia is to be believed). The odds of encountering this thing need to be such that even people going looking for it are unlikely to encounter it. You need to be looking at odds of, say, with 20 million players playing 500 hours apiece, only 100 players will encounter it in that time. And then, when they do encounter it, stop the ingame video from recording it and have it run away if the player tries to use any ingame cameras. It won't stop people from using third party tools, but it will make it extremely difficult to prove. Also make it so that it can't be damaged, so you can't go shooting it, running it over or otherwise immobilising it. Thus it would be a proper myth that would cause countless hours of debate. Jabalous
I don't believe in the existence of any kind of myth in any Grand Theft Auto installment . The reasons behind my disbelief is that I haven't passed by any kind of the supposed myths in GTA SA , all the pictures that were captured by different players , claiming that they finally got the Bigfoot , are nothing more than modding or Photoshopping . The unfalsifiable evidence against the Bigfoot is that Rockstar denied the existence of it : Sasquatch WatchSome say he roams Mt. Chiliad. Others have heard a beastly roar at the San Fierro airport. Hundreds of players insist that Bigfoot lives in San Andreas, and they're flooding the Net with grainy photos that'd make real-life Sasquatch stalkers proud. "There is no Bigfoot, just like in real life," says Rockstar CEO Terry Donovan--but we desperately want to believe. In fact, we'll give a free game to anyone with real evidence (a screen, polygonal pelt, etc.) that Bigfoot stalks the state. Send it to [email protected] with the subject line "Bigfoot lives!" Source You might have found indications for mythical creatures in Grand Theft Auto , but they don't really exist in the game's world , instead it's just a parody of the popular culture . In one of the newspapers in Red Dead Redemption , you can read an article saying that some people claim that they have seen spirits and ghosts in the haunted town of Tumbleweed , but the reporter on the scene hasn't found any supporting evidence for these claims . This doesn't seem a parody since RDR doesn't serve the same purpose of GTA , and they also have different design directions , but it's just a a re-representation of the people's beliefs in the old west . A lot of players went discovering Tumbleweed in hope of meeting a ghost or a spirit , but they didn't find any ghost , neither any spirit . You can consider this as a clever way from Rockstar to enrich their worlds by mysteries so that the players spend more time roaming these worlds . Algonquin Assassin
Interesting idea. I've always loved the idea of myths/legends, but I agree they should be almost impossible to encounter. Maybe the way R* could do it is add a mythical creature to a ridiculously low number of copies of GTA Next. Lets say 10. Or better yet 2 copies per country GTA sells in. Given that millions of copies get sold with each new GTA the chances of getting a copy with the creature would be stupidly low. Even then if you got a copy it should be almost impossible to find. No set spawn spot, and no set time of showing up. It could literally pop up anywhere in the wilderness at anytime. They should be treated like true myths/legends. In real life only a handful of people in a lifetime encounter something truly extraordinary. That's the way it should be in GTA aswell. Nova69_7
Kwandilibro, I for sure remember the speculation and craziness surrounding 'Bigfoot' and the UFO's in San Andreas lol! People were utterly convinced he was in there somewhere...and I'm sure some people still are. I am almost certain that there will be myths and legends surrounding GTA:NeXt wether RockStar actually put them in there or not.
Kwandilibro
Sh*t, I was convinced that Bigfoot was in SA for a while. And then I saw that huge rock with the face of a monster on it. So of course, I went searching and searching. Now I never heard one roar, I never even bothered to look for UFO's, but I did look for Bigfoot for a while. That being said, I was thinking that for very rare mythical creatures to be in the game, they would have to be almost impossible to find intentionally. And because of RAGE's graphics, it would be dark enough for people to have false encounters with "Bigfoot", which may actually be a bear or something. And in a certain area of a heavily wooded place(way more then SA), the creature would randomly spawn in certain places. It would also have to be fast moving, deadly, and a very well camouflaged beast. And of course, the location would have to be some dark, foggy, ghastly place like Back O' Beyond/Whetstone/Shady Creeks. The type of place where the overall environment is so creepy, you might think a rock is a monster. Or perhaps a swamp if the location was VC. I also think, to aid the "hunt", there should be animals, and in the area of the beast, there would be slain deer and other animals lying around. Now, I'm hoping R* wouldn't f*ck up a feature like this. For example, it need not be too easy or common to find. It also shouldn't be so rare people don't believe it. It needs to be rare enough to be extremely hard to find, even harder to kill, and harder than that to photograph. But it needs to be there. And one more important thing, it must not be required for 100% completion.
Rede
It can be done. Perhaps a rustling in the trees behind you but nothing there when you turn around. It could be pretty spooky with the surround sound.

Is it possible to have the f*ck killed out of you? Anyways, mythical "people" would be a nice addition too(although I imagine very annoying if you encounter them). I'm thinking a werewolf or some sh*t. A dude jumps out of the woods and tears you to shreds. And it just so happens that he's half man half wolf. He's also invincible, or at least close. Typhus
Great thread! I think we should at least have another serial killer. Given that Eddie Low was so brilliantly done. And you know what? Bring back Piggsy! Sure, he died in Manhunt, but if this next game is a prequel then he could reappear. Plus, he's a lot scarier than Leatherface. Imagine hearing a pig squealing in the woods at night and then you hear his chainsaw rolling. People would sh*t bricks.

So here I go, spending hours looking for the bastard, and I Google it to see where he is. Turns out he's not real. f*ck. Now I never really bothered with those desert myths, as I found the desert to be boring in SA compared to those back woods. I am hoping that R* will add some very rare beasts, some mythical creatures, or some serial killer out in the woods somewhere for us to search for. I mean, there were animals in RDR(and tons of them). I don't see why there can't be unusually large, unidentifiable animals that are super rare. Of course, there needs to be countryside and large wooded areas.

Spaghetti Cat
^^^EDIT: Yeah right You could do it for NPC's as well. I'd like to see an Elvis or Tupac hidden in the game. Typhus
I think a Werewolf would be cool. Especially if it only appeared during a full moon, a time calculated by the computer's internal clock. Especially if it only appeared during a full moon, a time calculated by the computer's internal clock. But if you killed the ped who turns into the wolf, that would stop it for good. Well you have to account for the game loading that character at all times in the map, not to mention he might die of clumsy drivers, stopping any chance of the player knowing in the first place. One ped that has the story of being a werewolf + One Werewolf model in the game = Win. So yeah, I guess I'll add the myths I want: Bigfoot Lemmings Hidden Bodies Jetpack Well actually that is all of them.

Kwandilibro
But then..... Notice the circled areas. Look at those indicators. How the f*ck could you not think there's something out there after seeing that sh*t? That's what R* needs to bring back. Even though Bigfoot wasn't there, there was an ugly motherf*cker on a rock that sure as hell looked like him. @Unoriginal44, Although Bigfoot is best known to be in the American Northwest, thousands of people claim to have seen him all around the country. There's Bigfoot, the Skunk Ape(of the south, primarily in Florida), Louisiana Wookie(in the swamps outside of New Orleans). Plenty of Bigfoot to go around.
