Wolf68k
For one learning to use the Pen tool to make your selections can help out big time. You can get much smoother lines. A lot of where you were surrounding area from whatever the kids where originally in it looks like you just use the erase tool which is fine, to a point, but it also looks like you didn't really zoom in on the areas you were erasing to get out those finer areas while trying to keep as much of the natural lines of the subject. I hope that made sense. What I'll also do is after I've cut out the subject and have it on it's own layer, create a new layer behind that one and fill it with a solid color (usually pure blue, but it varies to the subject), then use the eraser->pen tool and a very small size hard edge and zoom in a lot, usually 1600x some times more some times less, and take out what little there is left to remove so you don't get that white/light edge around the subject. Yours has a good bit of that still left. Most of it around the black&white kid on the right. There is also a "mystery dot" in the middle between the 2 kids in hats (one holding the phone/camera, the other wearing sunglasses) also a "mystery dot" to the left and just above the kid in green (2nd from the right). And so on. I could be mistaken but the kid with the hat and sunglasses, his right arm it looks like you color filled in what was originally missing. This is a good place to learn to use the clone stamp and healing brush but sampling the other arm. After that the hard part would be to either make them all black&white to match the kid on the far right or to use levels and curves and other color correction methods to make them all seem look the same. As for the background itself, go look for some tutorials on how to make abstract images. Follow those once you can see what each step is doing then play around with those steps and other filters and image correction settings to make something you'll like. Once took one tutorial and turned it into 5 different wallpaper images and each of those had 3-4 different colors.
