Kaj.
After waiting for 3 weeks, I finally got my car towed to my house. I've still got to get insurance, plates, and some work on the brakes done though. As far as I know, the only work that has to be done is replacing the brake lines. I was going to do it myself, but I've decided against that because I don't have access to the tools or shop I need to get sh*t done. Stuff I can do though is this rust and blistering. I figured someone here could give me some help on what I need to buy to get it done. I assume just some sandpaper to remove the paint and rust (not sure what grit(s) though) and primer and paint. Thoughts?
Illousion
Well, on my Amazon I sanded it down and put some rust-eater on it. Then got some epoxy-primer on it, sanded it untill I was satisfied and then put some paint on it. Not saying it's the right way, but it's a way. Congratulations on the car btw. Kaj.
Aye, that's the plan right now. Gonna get some 150 grit sandpaper, primer, (maybe) some bondo, and some paint tomorrow. But before that, I'm gonna call around to all the local shops and see if I can't get those f*cking brake lines fixed. I suppose that's the problem with free cars from parents, always gotta fix something.
Pat
I know it was free and all, but man, I would just get rid of that thing ASAP if I were you. I've borrowed my sister's Elantra a few times, and after driving that thing I will never trust any Hyundai product. Just so unbelievably cheap and uncomfortable, even by 90's econobox standards. I'm glad for you though. Hope you enjoy it.
Kaj.
Yeah, I know that Hyundai's from the 90's aren't the best vehicles by any means, but it's beats the hell out of a Norco. And it's my first car, so it's not like I have much to compare it to in terms of reliability or feeling safe. It'll keep me on my toes though. SR20DE
I suppose an Accent is better than going without, right? Although, any late-90s Hyundai product can in some cases be the equivalent of going without. I keed.
