Stop closing interiors!

why the hell is rockstar closing buldings after missions? like in gta 3 donalds garden was great. or bahamas mammas in ballad. there was a shootout but it should be reopened after a few days.

and why to close cutscene interiors??? most of them are really detailed and its a waste to just throw them away after the cutscene.

Because the game would take about double the amount of time, if not more.

it would take double the amount of time to leave an interior that they already made open?

This is one of the best points brought up for GTA V.

Several issues regarding the interiors:

~ Closing/inaccessible cutscene interiors

~ Pointless interiors, no beneficial resources inside

~ Lack of unique interiors, same interior repeated over 9000! times

~ Not enough interiors

It's really getting difficult to have a fun game without any sort of action going on in buildings. I propose more missions with complex and intricate interiors, shootouts and other activities.

And/Or multiplayer modes where two teams have a whole apartment building as their bases. wink.gif Could get interesting.

The reason the cutscene interiors are closed is because none of the objects have a collision file to them; you walk through EVERYTHING. They are there for the cutscene characters to interact with them. If you glitch in to the places you will find out that you can walk through much of the things laying around in the building.

I don't know why other places (like Bahama Mama's) is closed though. Hmm.

I was really pissed when I saw that bahamas was closed. It was the most detailed club. and remember the ganton gym glitch how many unused interiors it had? even sweets house from the cutscenes (and all otther cutscene interiors) were enterable like any other interiors.

EDIT to gta dogg:

yeah but they just could make them solid. and besides most of gta 4 interiors you could enter had cutscenes too. like your first safehouse. it was also interactable for cutscene characters (roman jumping on bed ect)

But what about mission specific interiors? Like that building where you fought the Russians before having that huge motorcycle chase in Downtown, LS?

Oh, I missunderstood what he said. I thought he meant that you should be able to go in every single building in the game.

if every bulding would be open it would set new standards for police shootouts but i guess it wont happen...

instead rockstar could make more unique and interactable. like the diner in iv. you can just buy a burger. why not buy menus like in sanan? or cigarettes from vending machine? or sitting anytime you want'? or in your safehouse opening fridges and reading playboy like in mafia 2??

It really does boggle the mind why R* does this. This is a company that astounds us with amazingly intricate worlds, yet somehow they manage to do stupid things like this. They have done it for a reason because how could it be a mistake? I'd love to hear that reason direct from the horses mouth.

1. Primarily because San Andreas had RPG elements, i.e. hunger, so menus would not be purely cosmetic.

2. Why would you want cigarettes? They would be useless. This is GTA, not MGS; they would have no gameplay effect.

3. Mmm, no. People have been asking for that feature for the last ten years, but there are only a few thousand who want it and it would be completely and utterly useless for everybody else. And it would probably f*ck up shootouts, anyway.

4. One can't say what they won't include something like that; however, it'd be an unnecessary addition at best.

@jamieleng: It's not stupid. The interiors aren't optimized for interaction outside of cutscenes or the specific missions; there's nothing to do there and certain glitches might be present.

I was really pissed off to find out Bahama Mama's was only mission exclusive, it was featured in the trailer, had it's own webpage, I was really hoping it would open up at the end of the game.

I know there was a shootout and there's police investigation, but Maisonette also hosts a massacre at one point of the game, so that's not really an excuse, hell they could have just said Yusuf bought it and opened it up again.

cigarettes and all were just examples how gta 5 would be more interactable. if 5 had rpg elements cigarettes could lower your staminna ect.

EDIT to post above:

after you completed the story you can just enter it by replying the mission.

or you can glitch inside. this is kinda stupid that you have to glitch to explore some more. like the bank you had to get out immidaetly (bad english i know) the interiors are actually open (only not cutscene-exclusive ones) only the doors are closed. kinda waste.

I know, but it should have been legitimately open.

I agree, GTA V better have more interiors and the ones seen during cut-scenes better be opened. I was very disappointed that Yusuf Amir's apartment was locked because his apartment was arguably one of the best interiors in the game.

Yeah, what the hell is that all about you must have killed more then 50 guys during Party's Over but yet the club opened back up like a day later. But in Boulevard Baby you only had to kill the guards and there was only like 4-5 max.

If the next GTA title has less interiors in buildings, it would possibly leave more room for a more destructive environment, not A destructive environment, just more of a destructive environment. Thus why a game like Red Faction: Guerrilla had very limited interiors in the buildings.

But yes, more interiors would be good.

this is slightly off topic, but same argument, they do the same with vehicles, really how many vehicles were in the dlcs that were one mission exclusive? alot!!!

Prison bus= why not just have it spawn at the prison or in a police station

Regina= sh*tty but cool car, why not just have it in traffic in poorer areas?

Police maverick=why not have it spawn on one of the many police stations with roof access and helipads?

tony's schafter and the stretch E= agin normal traffic

The swift!! that was such a good chopper and you think you can have it but then it dissapears at the end! there were so many other unused helipads, the airport for example!!

on to interiors, it would be cool if they had people actually in them

for example, in gtaIV mission shadow (i think) you follw the guy into an apartment bloc and as you go up the stairs you see people out in the halls talking, swweping, eh peeing, but then you go back and its dead? couldthey not keep this? hospitals etc have peolpe spawn inside when noton missions.

My 2 cents

they Open some on Multi-player Exclusively And some Vehicles too like the Cop Bike

So things like that can be opened In game else it's Just designed for story or just use trainers to Go there if you really wanna go there.

My grip with interiors, different from those listed above, is that they do not allow you (with a few exceptions) to interact with the outside world. I want to be able to shoot out windows and blast some cops outside of my safe house, or just look out the window and watch the world go by.

Well, ask R* why they didn't make every object solid.

I just said I wasn't sure why R* closed some places off; like Bahama Mama's.

good point. a lot of enterable areas in GTA4 were very repetitive

Not as repetitive as the interiors in SA IMO. I can't count the number of times I've wanted to punch myself in the face seeing the same bloody safehouse, store interior etc in SA.

Not to mention how some didn't even match the exteriors. GTA IV was a huge improvement, but still could've been better, but atleast the few safehouses there were all had their own, unique interiors.

Dude I'm sorry but how can you compare SA with IV ? No offence but SA is a 6 year old game and considering it had a huge map i'd say it was impressive to even see so many interiors.

None taken, but just because it's 6 years old aren't I allowed to give an honest opinion about it?

This have nothing to do GTA IV highlighting a flaw I never noticed. I've always thought SA's interiors were extremely repetitive, even when it was new.

This was one of my major problems with GTA 4. The lack of explorable interiors was a big issue for me. Now I'm not saying that the player should be able to enter every building in the game, but for a city as huge as Liberty City, plus Alderney State, the amount of buildings you could enter was a disgrace.

* Every different neighbourhood should have had contained all the in-game brand name restaurants that the player could enter, like Burger Shot, Cluckin' Bell etc. There should have also been more different restaurants that the player could explore and enter eg, Chinese restaurant in Chinatown, Italian restaurant in Little Italy, Soul Food restaurant in North Holland, Latino restaurant in South Bohan etc.

* There should have been a lot more different stores that the player can enter and explore, like the 247 convenience stores, the Bean Machine coffee bars, pawn shops, at least two huge shopping malls, more clothes stores, some jewellery stores, all the banks, a lot more nightclubs, bars and strip clubs, gym etc. You could only enter the internet cafes, one laundromat and some clothes stores and that was pretty much it. Plus the option to do store hold-ups or robberies should have been there.

* There should have been access to ALL major public buildings that you can enter and explore. You could'nt enter any police stations, they should have allowed that. Some of the hospitals were accessible but not all of them were. All hospitals should have explorable interiors. The rest should have included courthouses, city halls, public offices, fire stations etc.

* Some more residential building blocks should have also allowed access and exploration. Although some do, there werent many of them in GTA 4 and you could do nothing in them or see anything apart from see people hanging out in the staircase. They should have included buildings in certain rough districts where you can enter apartments to see where drugs are being packaged and stashed, illegal gambling is taking place or prostitution is in operation. Plus you should have the option to rob these places of cash and risk a gunfight.

* They should have also made the subway trains more explorable. In GTA 4 you can only enter the train and remain in one position as the train moves. They should have allowed the player to explore the train carriage interior and even be able interact with NPCs on the train, maybe get into a brawl or gunfight on the train while its moving

* What about sports stadiums? There was none and I cant believe it! GTA 4 Liberty City + Alderney state did not even have one major sports stadium present in the game and thats a major disgrace. There was no stadium to even enter, let alone explore the interior. If there was a sports stadium included that should accessible too, maybe as a social activity to watch a game.

Finally, they should not open certain interiors and close them off again permanently. The best case for this was the Bahama Mamas nightclub in Ballad of Gay Tony. Rockstar should have kept that club open and accessible, it was a really nice looking place. There is a cheat to go back in there, but the point is you should not have to use a cheat to go back to an interior in the first place.

I just dont understand why Rockstar ignored all this stuff man. They could have so many ways to make GTA 4 really great game but they blew it.
