Ronnyboy
Basically I'm running Ubuntu, and I got a XP disc from my friend, I want to partition my ubuntu drive without deleting everything on it so I can run both in tandem. How do I go about this?
Star-Lord
You can shrink the partition and use what is left is one way. You should back up everything before trying it though, just in case something should go wrong. Here's a few links that might help you. Windows/Ubuntu Ubuntu/Windows Grub2 Good luck! I'm sure some other regs here in Tech & PC Chat, will point you in the right direction.

Ronnyboy
Ok guys, I shrunk the partition and installed linux. Only problem is that Windows doesn't recognize the other partition. How can I fix that? Also, I'm having some troubles with my sound driver. Windows was installed as f:, not c: so now it won't install. It doesn't show up in Explorer?

Ebernanut
Windows can't read a linux partition(ex3, ex4. etc.), at least not without some extra software. I don't think that windows boot loader will load a linux partition, you want to use grub to create a boot loader that will work with windows and linux. It's easier if you install linux after windows because it will automatically set it up for you, since linux is already installed you should download "super grub disk" which will allow you to create a grub boot loader.
