Tarty Knickers
Well I can barely do it myself. So you're saying that you're just spinning round on an axis going throught the helicopter with the guns spraying bullets outwards in a circle, instead of rotating round an axis going through your target with the bullets pointing inwards (does that make sense)? I think that means that you're holding down the L1 (or R1) button too much (I'm basing this on Playstation controls). I seem to find that I have to tap those buttons intermittently to achieve the desired level of balance between the aircraft circling and keeping it pointed at the target. In fact I find that the whole exercise is a constant tapping and nudging away at all the controls to try to achieve some sort of equilibrium. I think that the best you can do is just to fly and manoevre the thing around a lot (without necessarily trying to attack anyone). Then you will intuitively start to understand how to coax it into doing what you want.
Legacy-666_
I recommend the 3 P's. Practice, practice, practice. or try party mode with a few friend invites.

Then you will intuitively start to understand how to coax it into doing what you want. This. If you can't fly to save your life in the game, don't bother trying to start attacking people. Firstly get your game together and learn to fly properly, and get used to the chopper in tight situations. You will automatically get used to circling if you do this after a while. Learn to know your surroundings and your limits.
o-CESAR-Xx
http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=455424 I might make some tutorials on this on youtube on saturday, maybe and also ground tricks
mrnew
yeah, it takes a bit of practice. the controls needed are (for counterclockwise circling i think) left bumper, left analog, and right trigger. for all controls you dont hold them down, you just nudge and let go as needed. left bumper keeps you in a slight rotation so you can keep pointed at the target. left analog should be nudged forward . this keeps you pointed down at the target and also keeps your helicopter wanting to move backward (yes down is usually forward but in conjunction with the bumper it will move you backwards) rotating and pushing forward will cause you to tilt and drop also. that's what the right trigger is for, it keeps your helicopter wanting to go up and keeps you level so you can aim at the ground. if you apply to much of one button you'll go flying off or flying over the target.
