Hi guys, I want 2 animated GIF avatars, first one from this video, from 3:03 to 3:15.

Second one would be

one, from 0:38 to 0:46.

If it's possible I'd like a 2px white stroke on them. icon14.gif

Unrated yours are fast as hell.

Narcis yours slow as hell. Which might be normal for me if I was on IE or Chrome, but I'm not, I use Firefox.

After looking at examples of both in Jasc Animation Shop

Unrated: 1st 2 frames have a delay of 0, frame 3's delay is 3, frame 4's delay is 4, after that it's a random collection of frames were some have 3 and others are 4

Narcis: strangely in the one I sampled the delay was 0 which had it going too fast.

Now I know Narcis is using Photoshop which too me is too much work and limited to 500 frames, which bugs the hell out of me and one of the reason I avoid it for these types of work. I'm little curious to know how you get to the point you import it to Photoshop

Unrated I have no idea what method you're using but something it wrong with it.

I'm also using photoshop to do this. I used mediaconverter.org to turn the videos into mpegs, and used VirtualDub to change them into GIFs.

I thought the first one was OK, but I f*cked up on the second one when I was deleting the frames, so thats why it was going too fast in the beginning. By the time I realized, it was too late.

I tried again, and this one looks better to me.

i usually import the file in virtual dub, set the start/end, crop it and then i save it as .avi or .gif

the other changes like stroke, speed and resolution are set using photoshop.

install the latest quick time then enter photoshop

in photoshop press import --> video frames to layers, if one of the formats is not listed (like gif)

just tipe *.* at the file name see pic, then all formats should be displayed.

Ok so you both are using VirtualDub cool. Now the problem is I don't want to jack the topic by telling how you can use it to make it an animated GIF with a border.

I'll cliff note it; sorry Cheat

Go here and downloaded the Border Control plugin http://www.thedeemon.com/VirtualDubFilters/detailed.html (only works with 32-bit version of VD)

Put it in the plugins folder for VD.

Filters: Border Control

Black Region fills in the color, never bothered with the others. Color is RGB values (note it sucks you have to use the up/down arrows instead of typing to make it faster. White=255/255/255 Black=0/0/0

File->Export->Animated GIF
