GTA VC steam version wont start Win7 64

Hi, I wonder if anybody can please help me.

 

I recently purchased GTA VC from Steam, ive installed it twice now and each time I try to start the game the screen goes blank for a split second then nothing happens.

 

Here are some details about my computer...

 

CPU - Quad core AMD Phenom X4 9150e

RAM - 4GB DDR2

GFX - ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB VRAM (Latest drivers)

MotherBoard - Acer RS780HVF

Sound - ATI HDMI Output

OS - Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

 

I have searched for solutions, one of which seems to be to delete the .set file from "my documents\GTA Vice City User Files" , however when I try to run GTA VC it creates the "GTA Vice City User Files" in my documents, but it doesnt create the .set file within it, so there is nothing there for me to delete.

 

I have tried running the exe as Administrator with compatability mode (tried all of them from win 98 to xp) to no avail. I have tried disabling visual themes. I have tried disabling Aero. Nothing works.

 

Any help would be really apreciated as this is the only GTA game I have never played and I'm itching to play it.

Do you have any mods installed? If so try deleting them and playing the un-modded (original) version.

Nope no mods, I have nothing installed as I cant even get it to start.

 

Its just the standard Steam version, I checked for updates through steam and it says its up to date.

Will your PC's video card support 640 x 480 resolution??

 

VC insists on starting in this resolution and will hang if not available...

 

I rehosted 2 settings files that should get you past that check... try one or the other and see if it works... no promises... I have the PC version not the steam version so am not sure if they are compatible.... perhaps another steam version person can upload one if this does not work..
