I know there are a few topics on this already, but I put alot of time and thought into this and I don't want it to get lost on some forgooten topic or smoothered in the wishlist topic with requests for jetpacks and eyebrow customisation.

 

RIght lets begin.

 

First I would like to just mention some general changes to the police on a whole

 

1, Police should carry Tazers or pepper spray and use it on one star wanted level. It work the same as in gta4, police would run up to player and the arrest mode will start, it player breaks out, they will be shocked which would result in loss of health or blurry vision (peeper spray)

 

2, If on 1 star and player has gun, police will point guns at player and order them to drop it, if player puts away gun, police will holster their weapons and proceed to arrest player (something similiar was in San Andreas), Of course if player fire, his weapon, points it at a cop or just keeps it out after being warned a few times, you will gain another star and police will open fire.

 

3,Police should be given batons, they will use them if player begins to melee attack cops and when up close wen firearms cannot be used.

 

4, Bring back spike strips, have them on some roadblocks, simple enough.

 

5, Common complaint, improve vehicle and helicopter chase AI, i just played driver one the other day, holy crap, I had some fun chases.

This is a must.

 

6, keep noose/swat teams in a team, they have a habit of splitting up and attcking me one by one, also stop having their armoured trucks pursue the player. they are not designed for chases, they posed no threat in GTAIV. instead have them appear as roadblocks after four stars

and have them turn up if player engages in a prolonged shooutout with police on foot.

 

7, People may dissagree with this, but get rid of the noose patriots and crusiers, i found them pointless and not much better than regular police, maybe replace with proper unmarked cars or just start giving the regular police M4's.

 

8, bring back police repelling from choppers,

 

9, improve vehicle pathfinding. If im on top of a mutistor carpark, the cop cars can't get up to me, they have improved on foot Ai to the point where they can enter buildings and reach you on upper floors, so now make cars to this.

 

10, People always complain about how they get a star because police seem to be everywhere. how about making police visable on the radar even when you don't have a wanted level? so you can see if there are any cars nearby, then if you commit a minor crime, you may get a faded star, the nearest police car will go to your location to investigate, if they sees yo,u you will get a star, if not they will look around for a few mins and then leave and ur star will vanish, u could also escape the area to lose star quicker.

 

11, have more traffic on the road, it seemed to vanish wen you got a wanted level.

 

12, If i shoot the markmen out of a chooper, just have the helicopter stay and make the resawn time longer, i shoot down a chopper its replaced too quickley.

 

Now i will talk about changes to the wanted level. Im taking some ideas from CTW for this with whole destroying cop car thing, eg

each wanted level a certain amount of cop cars will give chase, if a car is disabled a replacement car will take a few moments to rejoin chase,

this will be how the player breaks line of sight because now police are very good at following and are very hard to shake even on lower stars.

 

The player can disable cop cars in 4 ways.

 

The player can outdrive the police with skillful and risky manouvers e'g running red light and driving into oncoming traafic ( not like in IV where all you had to do was turn a corner and drive KINDA fast)

 

Shooting the cars with weapons while driving, weakness to this is it can take a few rounds to disable a car and player risks crahing due to not seeing ahead

 

Shooting drivers, quick and simple yet risk of increasing wanted level if player shoots to many police drivers.

 

finally, cop cars can be outrun in high end super cars.

 

1 star, same as before, but up to one cop car will give pursuit and will be tricky enough to shake off(not like IV where they go about 5mph but it will always only be one), if player does not lose cop car in enough time, player recievs two star wnated level.

 

2 stars

similar to past games, up to two cop cars will now pursue you, they will tail you you close and on straights will attempt to box you in or get ahead. Each car will have two officers.

 

3 stars

3 cars will now pursue, cops will be armed with shotguns. cop cars become even more skillfull. police helicopter appears (not armed,) but is very hard to escape from and is constanley shining searchlights on you. Roadblock on major bridges and tunnels are set up, spike strips are deployed.

 

4 stars

5 cars will now follw, cops are armed with shoutguns and some have mp5s, helicopter now begins to shoot, news chopper appears ( for effect)

Swat vans now make up road blocks. when player is on foot and begins firing at police, swat will arrive to engage and they will enter buildings first. they will not engage in car chases unless they are in a patrol car.

 

5 stars

civillian traffic and pedstrians are practically gone off the streets. Fbi now replaces cops, they can keep up even with sport cars, are all armoured and carry shotguns, asssualt rilfes and sub machine guns. swat still remain on roadblocks and shootouts. up to six cars can pursue.

 

6 stars.

 

same as five only now they will shoot at when chasing you in a vehicle.

 

So that it. if there is anything you don't understand just ask,

It was mentioned to have special pursuit units. these could be added when player is on freeways and is in a fast car icon14.gif

i think they should make it so that you dont automatically get stars for shooting a cop when no one is around. how can they know you killed him when no one is around?

IMO, we shouldn't get stars at all for committing any crime if nobody was around. Everybody knows, "If nobody saw it, it didn't happen.".

at least you dont get the stars instantly like when you kill a cop.

To above: Yeah! I hope so.

 

 

I think I'd miss the SWAT teams if they were gone. I think they should only be in big cities though.

Pepper spray sounds like a good idea to me, cool.

i get annoyed when you step out they assassinate you they should only shoot if yo hold up your weapon.

I agree, a lot of improvements can be made. And most (if not all) of these seem plausible, and not too over-the-top.

 

1 Star should definitely be changed. I'm tired of getting chased all over town for bumping a cop car, or breaking through a toll booth.

 

The rest sound good too. I don't have a huge issue with how it is now besides the choppers coming back super fast. But those mostly all sound like steps in the right direction.

i liked CTW police system. you can knock out police cars, and it would be like this:

 

1 star: take out one police car

2 star: take out 2 police cars, then go down to 1 star and take that one out

i dont remember the 3-6 stras things, because i would always just get ina fast car and drive away or knock the police out

Yes a lot of improvements could be made to the Wanted System. I think all you guys would agree that It Is annoying when you commit a crime then all of sudden the Cops are on you arses (It does annoy me) It should take a bit longer for the Cops to get to the Crime scene or get to the protagonist. If you get away from the scene fast and nobody spots you In the Process, the Cops will search for you but they don't know you exact location. Say If you go Into a Parking lot and hide behind a car, the Cops would have a idea where but they don't know where your hiding so they search the whole Parking Lot.

 

The Cops did improve In GTA IV by knowledge I mean. In the III era they were not that smart when chasing you, In IV they got smarter and tried to block you (Make a form around you so you cant escape) But In the NeXt GTA, the Cop System definitely needs to be a bit more realistic.

I agree with all of your points but the cops having mp5's. They should have m4's instead, since only swat teams and government agencies are issued mp5's, and almost all citys by now have at least 1 in 10 patrol cops with an AR-15. Also, I think there should be a k-9 unit that will join in at 3 stars.

Exactly I feel your pain, thats why cops should always be shown on radar, then if ur in an area with no police presence and you commit a crime, you will hear a police radio report and the nearsest cop car will arrive to investigate.

Lol i actually know that, im not sure why i wrote that, as for K 9 units I love the idea, I just have no idea how they would be implemented in a fun way, any ideas??

The dogs should run after you at 3 stars, but you can escape from them by hopping over a fence, shooting them, or if they bite you, shaking them off by pressing a few buttons or shaking a game controller. Also, if the police lose sight of you, in real life they would set up a perimeter of a few blocks, call in SWAT, and the SWAT team and a k-9 unit will track you down, so maybe the dog could be used to find you.

sounds good, as long as dogs are'nt as deadly as they are in other games such as COD4.

On this specifically, I think there should be a High-Speed Unit or Highway unit, that uses the police buffaloes, that way it won't be that easy to outrun them with a supercar.

I would like to see a boxville version of an enforcer too. I have to idea why though.

 

AS for the noose patrols, they were just regular cops with m4's, I just think they should have been a bit more diff, they're not even better at chasing you.
