Dominico
Ok, I don't know if you guys noticed, so, here it goes. I had a Nintendo 64 back in '98 and one of my fav video games of that time was road rash. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Rz-_5HWkvHU/S_9Z...rofilelarge.jpg I noticed Rockstar tried to adapt that into a mini game in TLAD. Well, I think it sure has better graphics but that's just stealing. The whole concept is the same, just different characters. Have you noticed it? P.S. I miss my nintendo 64, it's broken now, somewhere in the attic
Narcis_speed6
i remember playing that game back in old days, don't care if rockstar stole it or not, is a good feature anyway... btw, take it easy with creating topics.
buzbegone
In the mission where Terry first asks you for a race, he gives a bat to Johnny and he (Johnny) says something like. "Nothing like a little road ras.h" Rockstar knew what they were doing. I just wished they added the granny.
Dominico
You mean this granny? http://media.photobucket.com/image/road%20...z187/granny.jpg
EastSideRyda187
So because Road Rash did it years ago no one else can use that idea ever again? Thats pretty stupid...
Dominico
So because Road Rash did it years ago no one else can use that idea ever again? Thats pretty stupid... So it's ok for Rockstar to steal from others, but if someone makes a video game very similar to theirs, it's war then
lord sh...t-head
WHAT THE F***K!? How can the concept of knocking someone off a bike be stolen. So a Nintendo game had it,why wold have to steel something from a game that is old as my grandma (or steal something from any newest game-not saying Road Rash is bad) It is a gta game, playin' dirty and stuff. So,what the hell are you people talking about? .................How the hell did you come to that conclusion?
Dominico
Looks like the Rockstar lawyer is among us. Welcome aboard.
Ash_735
Erm, video games take ideas from other video games all the time, Road Rash was around BEFORE Road Rash 64, it was actually around during the Mega Drive days, besides, There were other Road Rash knock offs around the time that no one remembers now, not even I remember the exact name. It's not like TLAD revolves around the entire concept of Road Rash, it's just used the bat on bikes part of it, and there hasn't been a Road Rash game in years, especially since the last one fell through. So it was nice of Rockstar to revive that awesome feature, racing in TLAD is more fun than TBOGT and IV because of it.
Dominico
Agree with that. And I did say "mini game", so it's not like they invented TLAD after it.
kudoboi
gta is not the only 1. test drive had this feature in 1 of the games too. and i few others as well. so rockstar is not stealing anything. its like saying rockstar stole the gun feature cuz there was 1 gun game earlier than them. GTA3Freak-2001
There is a thing called a Hommage guys, this being one of them. Games do it all the time, Starcraft 2 features a in game Shump reminiscent of the originals.
jamieleng
So because Road Rash did it years ago no one else can use that idea ever again? Thats pretty stupid... So it's ok for Rockstar to steal from others, but if someone makes a video game very similar to theirs, it's war then Dominico your posts usually make sense but you sound like a troll with that comment. Developers have been borrowing ideas from other games for ages. How many GTA clones were made after GTA III, do you think R* got their lawyers on the makers of those games? Anyway, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
MrcTOtheJ
It's not like the makers of road rash could copy right hitting people with a bat, while racing a motorcycle, and like other people said here, it's not like R* lawyers up every time a GTA clone comes out, good or bad. (Then again it's just a game in the same genre when it comes to GTA clones but still.) It's not like R* are the first to use other ideas from other games. Dominico
Ok, don't all get me wrong on this one. I love any GTA game, in fact I have them all, except for Chinatown Wars cause I don't own a DS, but: I think it's really great they added this feature in TLAD. But I think there is too much similarity and that's why I said it looks just like Road Rash, the concept.
Ash_735
But I think there is too much similarity and that's why I said it looks just like Road Rash, the concept. Well class it as a homage, I mean, come on, even Johnny makes a reference to Road Rash, it's not like Rockstar Games have said "LOOK AT US WE'VE INVENTED THIS TOTALLY NEW RACE METHOD TAHT'S ORIGINAL!!", they needed something to spice up the racing and took inspiration from one of the most famous Biker games out there, Road Rash. With the way things are, I doubt we'll get a new Road Rash game any time soon, so it's nice to see how it could work on this generation of consoles with ragdolls, etc.

na89340qv0n34b09q340
Hey a few years ago around christmas i remember a three game pack including ford racing 3, power drone, and some motorcycle racing game and in that game had the ability to knock people off thier bikes with weapons and a few other moto X racing games incorporated this and they also give homage to other games. Why don't you just start a topic about R* stealing from Tetris by making Cubed. Obvious waste of a topic.

CryptReaperDorian
@NoobSwagg: You're 15, and you started on a N64? Not bad at all. I'm 17, and I started with a SNES along with a copy of Super Mario World. I do believe most graphic whores in gaming have never played on a console before the sixth generation (PS2, Xbox). I so agree with you. As I said before, most kids start with a PS3 or Xbox360 and ignore everything before their generation. Man, I miss the good old days when people used to swap cassettes instead of BluRay...
