AlfieWilRus
Ok, I've been mostly a PS3 and PS2 gamer for gta but I have been playing on PC a lot but I have never been a PC know it all. I want to get a PC that can handle gta Iv and its expansion packs and will this pc meet its requirements: http://cgi.ebay.com/AMD-Phenom-II-3-2Ghz-Q...s#ht_2272wt_907 I also learned that you need a graphics card for the PCs but it didn't say anything about a graphics card. Do I have to buy it seperately and then put it in the desktop? Sorry for these stupid questions, as I've said I was never a PC dude and I'm in a hurry anyway. NCONiall
You've got my approval, it's a bargain for that price, over here you have to spend £1000 to get a good PC And the the HD5770 is DX11 compatible so you get the most up-to-date DX it should run GTA IV maxed out(depending on that limiter that R* implemented). Yeah it's a good PC maybe wait for some other peoples opinions if you are going to buy it you should know it doesn't come with an OS, I reccomend Windows 7 because that's the only OS that supports DX11 afaik. mike752
DirectX (DX) 11 is the latest DirectX. GTA IV uses DirectX 10, so it doesn't matter (graphics cards with DirectX 11 are backwards compatible with DirectX 10). anus
Investing in DX11 is good because it would help with games which utilize DX11. Unless the OP is going to be running only IV forever, getting a card with DX11 is a good futureproofing measure. @AlfieWilRus, Your best option is to buy the parts and put it together yourself or get someone you know/a local PC store to put it together for you. Much cheaper than buying prebuilt PCs and you can get a much better PC as well. Or you could use a site that lets you choose the parts and they assemble it and send it to you. The seller of the PC Gilly posted has a service like that. If you can post up your budget, I could tell you the parts you need .

More information here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DirectX What the hell did you smoked yesterday? Acid? GTA4 nowhere uses DX10. If GTA4 had DX10, we had AA. But since the game was designed for XApe360 with old GPU, R* doesnt see a point of rewriting the engine for DX10 support or higher. So they left GTA4 with it is now: a game that supports only DX 9 and not higher.
LuKeltic
It's worth finding out how much RAM it has too, but judging by those specs I'd say probably 4GB. Make sure the OS you get is 64-bit so that you can take full advantage of the system, and I'd recommend Windows 7 Ultimate. That seems a really good buy though, I'd go for it. Rachpoil
If you want to play GTA IV maxed out from a branded PC (already built), you should expect to pay $2,000 as a minimum. If you know how to build PCs and look for parts deals, you MAY get away with it for $1,400. I heard that to play GTA IV maxed out you need a very fast quad core CPU and a fast graphic card with 2GB of memory. For the graphic card, make sure the graphic memory is not spited between multiple GPU even if it is on a single card (2GB dedicated to one GPU). Hope this help and enjoy your new machine! mkey82
1500$ is not an unlimited budget, for one. When I said there are no guarantees, that's what I meant. Nobody can vouch that the game will run like it maybe should on any configuration. There are all sorts of various issues that can surprise you behind the corner. From what I have seen from people coming here, for GTAIV the best would be * an i7 above 3GHz clock speed - GTAIV loves i7s * 4GB RAM and a 64bit OS, presumably 7 * GTX460 is a good value for the money right now, even though I don't know how well does GTAIV on it
joshuazh
Would ddr3 and ddr2 ram make a difference? If you have 1500 to spend, scroll down the page and make the cpu better for 94$, then select a better graphics card. I can run it low to medium with 8 gb ram and a weaker graphics card than 5770 at 1600*1050 but if you want a good experience customize that computer on ebay yourself. Also, i cant find the amount of ram on that ebay computer? Am i just stupid or do they not say it? EDIT: Oh, and you might want to get some better fans if you're going to overclock. EDIT2: check this out i customized it for you the link might not work right tho... PC Edited August 10, 2010 by joshuazh
